Personally, I think BG prices are out of hand. Sure, they are important, but 3 mil and up?! I think that all BGs should cost 1 mil. That is a fair price. Post with your thoughts. |

The price increases with each rank which is fair because the higher mobster you are the more the BG is gonna expect to recive if you hire him as they know you have more money :D |

That would make them easily accessible, which in turn would create a increase in protection amongst all mobster. Which in the end, would create a world of untouchables.

Hahahhaa, ok... Yeah, maybe leaders who have been alive forever and a day. Trust me, money isn't easy to come by when you are just starting out. Sure we can tax the fuck out of you guys, demand tributes, some do that. Some do not. Some are considering it.
Bodyguards are expensive because that is their lifetime wage. The upkeep we pay is for their health.. Medical expenses and such. |

I guess you were not around back when they cost TWICE as much as they do now. Bodyguards are cheap. If they were any cheaper, everybody would have them. As it is, just about everyone has at least one or two.
In the mafia, not every pissant associate had bodyguards. Only the head guys had them. Why should it be any different here? |

Since they're so helpful, you have to feel the sting somewhere. Hence, the cost and the maintenance. It's fair, considering how many avenues of profit we have now adays.
It's an uphill battle with bodyguards, but eventually you can turn enough profit to manage them. When I was authed as a crew leader I started with one bodyguard. Through hard work and a dedicated crew, I managed to get well past Extremely Well Protected within my first month. One of my current associates has bought most of his BGs himself, and has done well in the purchasing and maintaining department.
If you work hard enough, anything is possible. |

Out of interest... is this a question, a statement or a guess?
I'm not sure if you're saying that a bg adds more defence as the owner ranks up, or if you're suggesting that a bg purchased at a higher rank adds more defence. |

I still think something needs to be done about BGs. With lengthy leaderships, every man and his dog has a bunch of them, ranging from VWP to OWP. Whilst that is fine for CLs/GFs (or upper structure that CLs/GFs are spoiling), I don't really agree with Thugs being bought shit loads of BGs.
It might be too late now, given the saturation to this point, so I'm not sure what the solution is. |

There are many ways to make money.
Drug runs, petty crimes, felony crimes, selling services, and running drug fronts.
You can also take a chance with gambling, however you may lose more than you win.
With the new drug system the harder you work the more units you can carry, it is no longer based on rank alone. |

It's really not an issue of how much they cost. If they were cheaper everybody would have hundreds more and if they were more expensive we would have less but the proportion would still be the same: if I am making twice as much money as my neighbor is, I will be twice as protected.
This conversation was started by a new player that couldn't understand why they were so expensive and I think he got some good answers. |
