| Mass Mailing | Started by: IvanRomanov on Mar 20, '15 15:24 |

The way the game currently does mass mailing is fine but I wanted to see if we could introduce another method. Right now you have to be a CL or a hand to do a mass mail and its to the preset organization types (entire crew, all CLs in the game, so on). I would like to propose that people who are not in a position of power, like a Made Man, to be able to mass mail people. I know they can just copy and paste something over and over again to send to people, but there should be a way to fix this with ease. And if its being abused, a CL can intervene quite easily. I just want to give some sort of ability for those not in a crew leader or hand position. Thoughts? |

It would be nice to be able to have these as changeable permissions. Either on an individual basis, or to have a group of "Crew rights" that could be assigned to individuals.

This is one of those things that I personally would be against, but I am open minded to what the users want. When I have a personal character, I am not a "log in 15 times a day" type player, some times its every few days. It's a little overwhelming when you log in and there is 18 mass mails from the upper structure - I think another 10 mass mails about "visiting a bar", "posting in a thread", "hey wanna buy mapping" and "my sisters roomates former boyfriends bestie bff jill just got knocked up" may be even more annoying/overwhelming. Right now a member can mass mail ten people, so they selectively pick the 10 people. It requires a little bit of work, a little bit of effort before you click a few buttons and disturb people. If we made it as simple as #crew in the TO: field I think it will be used... a lot more. If you feel the upper structure will keep it spam and annoying free, and the overwhelming majority of posts here are in support then I'm on board. |

I personally feel maybe the best way to do this is with FS's suggestion on making this an individual case by case basis in the crew. Just like CLs are able to make someone a sponsor, you are able to give someone the right to Mass Mail. Another thing that would be great if we were able to program groups. Like if I wanted to mass mail my own hands, I could make my group "#hand" and it would go to those two. |

The only reason we havn't moved Mass Mailing into using Contact Group Support is the spam factor - if we can nail down the details of solving that, we can merge the two. |

Best way to solve that is to let the recipients of the mass mail handle that. I mean if you spam and others cannot tolerate it, I think they'd speak up or act upon it. |

I like the idea of CLs being able to grant someone permission to do such a thing without it being a given right.
Another option could also be for users to have a list of people which they allow masses from. For example, if you're a part of a roleplay group, you could add "JohnSmith" the leader of that group to send you masses.
Or perhaps the option to turn off/on these massmails altogether (of course, you wouldn't be able to switch off the CL/Hand/District masses). |

what about limiting the feature to made+ ranks. This would put more meaning into the rank, roleplay wise it makes sense, and put's more responsibility on CL to monitor it. Plus this would stop someone from creating a account and just mass spamming people you would have to invest time into it, the game (as in players) can hold a particular city/district/crew responsible. if a person feels that a made+ is abusing the feature complain to the person who gave them the rank, quite literally this would shift the responsibility to the players, and give them the feature they want. just an idea, i remember a lot of people complaining that made+ didn't mean as much as it use to so why not give them some more features. |
