I just bought a new game and it says I have to install steam, when I did steam asked for an update so while its updating it only goes to 10% then says steam is currently down. Has this happened to anyone and if so how did you fix it.

ps. I have already posting in the tech support forums on other websites but no one has replied, I REALLY want to play this game and can't because of the stupid update.

Try deleting your ClientRegistry.blob file and see if that works:

Program Files >> Steam >> ClientRegistry.blob

Used to fix most of the issues around the Steam client updating and logging in issues etc

I hate steam. Goes down all the time, I dont use it often but yet every single time I do there is an error loading.

I leave steam open and I almost never have a problem with it.

My steam is fine 99% of the time. It's Origin that you need to look out for really.

TyrionLannister I think the problem might be more on your end.  You can try, if you haven't already, changing your download server through your settings.   I fixed any download problems through that.

How can I make Steam Downloads go faster?

Change your download server.

1. Go into "Settings" in your main Steam window
2. Go to the "Downloads + Cloud" tab
3. Go to the middle where it says "Download Region"

You should download XCOM: Enemy Unknown on it, it's awesome :D
