Hey guys, I know not only is this OOC but this is way outside of game, but I am participating in the Avon39 Breast Cancer walk on behalf of my mom who has breast cancer for the second time.  If she can sit through five and a half hour treatments every three weeks, I figure I can walk 39 miles to end breast cancer. 

What I still need is for people to donate or join my team.  "No Quarter for Cancer" is the team name, and we are willing to accept people from anywhere as long as you can get the 1800 dollars and make it to SF to walk.  If you can't walk, donations are appreciated as is spreading the word. 

The money is used by the Avon Foundation to fund not only cancer research but to fund food for shut-ins whose cancer treatment has made them too weak to shop.  It covers transportation costs for some who cannot drive to the hospital to get treatment.  And many other things.  It is not affiliated with Susan G Koman, nor does it donate to them.

Questions I have been getting:

Is this walk affiliated with Susan G?:  No, and for very specific reasons.  Susan G is in some trouble lately for mismanaging its funds.  Avon Foundation for Women is transparent about its use, they are audited every year and they post their documents. 

But I don't have a credit card:  That's ok.  Debit cards with a visa or mastercard logo work.  You can also give a check to Avon39 ( the information is on the donation page)  If you donate by check, let me know so it can be tallied. 

Can i show up at the walk or walk with you?  There are 'cheering stations' along the route and those are the only place that non-walkers can be.  In order to walk you must join a team and get your 1800$ in donations.

What does the money go to?:  The money goes to helping transport people to their treatment, to helping those whose treatment has made them too weak to go out and shop with food and child care.  In other words, a good cause.

So far, MR and it's people have been my biggest donors.  And I would love more contributions from here.  The minimum donation is five dollars, so think about it, please, instead of buying more credits, donate it to a good cause.

Yes, as lillian so adeptly pointed out, what I said could come off as taking shots at the game.  As that was not my intent I will appologize.  I would never want you to stop paying for this game we love, but at the same time, donations are appreciated.  Anyhow.  very long story short.  My team could use support.
