If the game were to allow this, there would have to be some pretty big caveats. I can see a reason to allow it in that fake ID can be procured and sometimes we may have to 'disappear'. But the potential for abuse would be astronomic. I borrow 500k from Curtis, buy out of his crew while he sleeps, change my name and profile, join another CL, rinse and repeat... I send a load of abusive mails to someone, change my name, then disappear. etc etc To counter this, the option would have to be countered by at least one of the following: 1) Very expensive - 10 Credits plus in price 2) Resets your rank points as you are a 'new' player once more 3) Only open to people who have never posted and never sent any mail 4) Your previous name appearing in your profile for at least 45 days similar to a married person "Sambo (Nee: Cody)" kind of thing. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this would be impossible to do as it would mess up some of the background data tables due to you name being a unique identifier. |

I think that even with the counter points by Chris_Vaughn it would still be a hard idea to implement. From a guess I'd say that the ID code we all have is tied to our current name, that name / ID is linked to everything we do. So if you PP'ed somebody, who then has a record saying that user 'X' has PP'ed them, then if that worked with the ID being a key it would simply change to your updated name. Unless the database structure is extremely fluid you'd always leave a very visible trail. |

I really would rather not go down this rode for game play reasons, and back end reasons. We can adjust someones capitalization errors, or, if they havnt done a whole lot of communication and their account is brand new, we can correct a typo, but past this it would be bad on quite a few levels (datawise, and game wise) to be able to grab a new name. One of the biggest checks and balances here is the whole "accountability" issue, which I think would be too easy to dodge if you can just change your name. |

I think people who play for too long one character they get very emotional when their character dies. And then they say very bad things, sometimes they dont even mean it. The point is not to live forever here, you are not your character. Need a fresh start? retire and start over. It resets your stats, but the point is to play the game. |
