Bid Rigging/Construction businesses Started by: Joey-Merlino on Apr 14, '15 23:30
I was thinking maybe have the ability for individuals or crew bosses be able to open construction companies and have an admin or computer operated account called The Union or whatever sounds better haha but that account will post a forum that maybe everyday or once a week owners of constructions companies will post bids for "contracts" and by the due date that all bids stop whoever has the best price they will be given that amount of money! Just a little something extra to help the game be more realistic !
Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $100,000 Tip

Where's the yang? Admin always say if they inject more cash into the game, they need something to take it out with as well.

Report Post Tip
Well instead of giving the full value of the amount the "contract" is for could takeout maybe 5-10% fee
Report Post Tip
The original idea isn't a bad one, but like was said, a counter is needed. Unfortunately, I can't think of a good 1:1 flipside. I can't think of anything that would take just as much cash out of the game.

Worth some thought, though.
Report Post Tip
Well could increase the tax you get charged out of your company, but don't make it a cheap feature that everyone and their mother has a company haha maybe have it cost a couple of mil to start the business
Report Post Tip
Hmm, expensive to start. You are on to something there. Your numbers are a bit off in my opinion, but I see an idea.

Starting a construction business costs 25mil. Then, to upgrade it to make it more competitive (since I gather it will be a lotto as to who gets the contract), you have to spend more money like you do on forts. More money spent on upgrades = better chance of winning bid, but chance never goes above say 25% to prevent the same people from just buying all the contracts.

When the weekly contract lotto comes up, computer picks a winner, and that CL gets 10 mil or whatever.

Perhaps also make it so if a crew has a construction company they earn slightly more (5-10%, depending on upgrades) on either OCs or petties, just to entice people to use the feature.

Thoughts?
Report Post Tip
Idk since if it'll be an automated system 25mil could be steep because who knows when or for how long it'll take to finally make a kind of profit could take a day, a week, a month who knows haha I think maybe 5-10mil but yeah the upgrade system is a good idea to help boost your chances of winning a contract. And so no one person gets tons of money to give an unfair advantage maybe a portion of your profits gets sent to your crew leader or have the company have employees that you can hire people to help boost your odds and can pay them whatever they want
Report Post Tip

Really really like this maybe have permits that you have to renew every couple of weeks or so

Report Post Tip

I think EddieOHare is right about the price, 25 million is a great deal of money but you can make it back over time with a profit.

Also the "God's" want to see us put money in to make money so I think they will like the 25 million idea better then 5 or 10 million.

Report Post Tip
Well I definitely like the permits idea! Well I guess 25mil will be the best number, just can't bid too low haha so maybe have it a daily or every other day thing to recoup money a bit faster
Report Post Tip
Squishy, are we on the right track here? I don't want to spend a whole lot more time trying to figure it out until I find out if A. you're on board with the general idea, and B. we know what your concerns are.
Report Post Tip
I agree with Eddie, because as we see this is a feature that would be cool to add!
Report Post Tip

you're on board with the general idea, and B. we know what your concerns are.

Make it revenue neutral, if it puts money into the game, suggest where it we can take it out so that it doesn't disproportionally take from those who can't benefit from this feature

Would kind of percentage of the population could have access to this, what method do you suggest for limiting it

What ranks have access to this feature

How often will this feature be usable, and what actions are required by the player to use it

These are my basic questions for now

Report Post Tip
What do you mean squishy? Do you think it should just have a set amount of cash it will make the owner? And I think it should be available to anyone providing they have the money for it! But maybe instead of rank have it after 15 days or so it becomes available and for maybe everyday if it has a set value when the company has made its money maybe take a sort of tax (a percentage will need to be figured out) and to make sure more money is spent maybe have upgrades that you need to purchase to have the business make more money, and I think it should be a permanent feature after you spent the money to buy the business since 25mil seems to be an agreed price. But if you want make it so that as another requirement you need to be in a crew to be able to gain this feature
Report Post Tip
I see this slightly differently.

I think only CLs can manage it. It would be more like Forts than like OCs. It is a crew/family thing.

Money in:
When you win a job (either by bidding the lowest, or by lotto, I'm good with either), you get paid

Money Out:
Costs $25 mil to buy, plus another 15 or so in upgrades

The balance is achieved by limiting the amount earned for each successful job in some way.

How often:
Once a week

What needs to be done in game to use it:
Click on a new menu item in Profit that is only there for CLs and hands.

All of this is open to tweaking of course. Opinions welcome!
Report Post Tip
Well I'm not saying it cause I'm not a CL haha but I think others need to profit from the idea too, maybe in the profit section have the tab CONSTRUCTION and have it planned out that you can hire members in your business to get maybe a boost of some kind with titles like Vice President, management etc. and have them getting a portion of the sales but to get those spots you also need to spend money into the company
Report Post Tip

Well if the CL's end up with it which I think is a good idea it could work like this. Say the CL needs to bid on a contract, the contracts are set building jobs between 5-30M. A cl would then purchase the contract and send out invites to his crew remembers to participate in the weekly contract.

Depending on how active the crew members the CL invited are and if they click to work daily will determine your crews payout from the contract and whether or not you made a profit after the bid.

The less activey you get from members you were invited the less profit youll make. Meaning if you invite X amount of guys to help profit off a 30M contract and none of them are active to click to work then the crews potential for profit off the job decreases and you can end up in the red having not recovered you 30M investment.

So it would be a gamble. Money could be lost and taken back by the game with my layout if members slipped up.

Report Post Tip

I love this idea.  A couple of tweaks for me would be that there are different stages:

1) Felony / OC style which payout on a more regular basis, but give a substantially reduced amount of cash.

2) Bidding wars, which can be done much more rarely (once a week was suggested) but have a larger payout.

To take money out of it, excluding the costs of actually upgrading as mentioned, you could have it that you need to hire staff.  Labourers need paid, crime business or not, so you may have a daily cost to "upkeep" the books, similar to a DFP.  To make it benefit others perhaps also have it that family members can also work there, they'd get a 'wage', but any work would be towards the upkeep of the business.   This could be on a OC style timer so it couldn't be done that often.

Finally to avoid it benefitting the strongest families, perhaps the only 'workers' that are from that crew can be Wise Guy or below.  It would add a new feature to those who are below MM.

Report Post Tip
I like the interesting idea of keeping the labor for the lower ranks. That's kind of cool!
Report Post Tip

I like using workers as family members maybe people who do all of the hard labor would be people Wiseguy and below and then you have all the managers and stuff being Mademan +
