*A tall scruffy faced man with a cigar in his mouth can be seen standing on the corner talking to a few others*. I hear you crying because your boss has not given you that big promotion you have been waiting for?Ihave heard more people crying about this and i cant hold my thougts on this any longer Well let me ask you a question? Have you done anything to get promoted besides staying alive?Sure you rob a few stores and maybe you deal some drugs but thats all you have done huh,and now you expect to be promoted. *kicks the dirt and spits* Well it just dont work that way.You see there are a lot of things you can do to get yourself promoted but sitting around complaining is not one of them. Do you even know your boss?Have you talked to your boss at all?what about his RHM do you talk with him? What about the other members of your family do you talk with them?Have you ever tried to help others in the family? You have to promote yourself and until you learn to do that things wont change much. Does your boss know who you are?Will the boss see you in the street getting busy? at the funeral home when a family member dies? What about money,Does the boss know you are donating on a regular basis?It takes a lot of money to provide a Headquarters that is so freely given to you to provide you with a safeplace to stay. The only way to get promoted is to promote yourself so before you start complaining about that big promotion check yourself and make sure your doing the things that get you to the next level in this world. *looks around and waits for a few comments from the others* |

*Scratching his neck, Denny walks over to Sarfas* I gotta say I agree with you, half of these young turks wouldn't know their ass from their elbow and yet think they deserve to go up the ranks. I'd even go far as to say that they expect it from their boss the minute his books show an empty slot. But you know, I don't particularly like talking to the boss when starting out, what the hell would he want to talk to a lowly Goomba for? I'll talk to the guy above me sure but I'm not going to stick my nose in the bosses business, not my place if you ask me, leave it to the Wise Guys. That of course presents its own problems because the lower ranks of a family are filled...for the most part...well...lets just say by people I have no wish or intentions to consort with. Not because I don't like them..okay I don't like them but hey I don't like anybody really. So I'm the quiet Mafiosi, yeah yeah, I'll mail you back the drug prices seen as you asked in the shortest way possible and maybe if you have an intelligent question I will answer it...but aside from that, I'll be earning for the boss so don't bother me unless its something important. So there you have it, a Mafiosi who doesn't talk much but earns you a fair bit of cash, promote, don't promote...I leave that up to the boss, not my place to ask so I shut my trap. *Pauses and thinks for a moment before clicking his fingers* Oh yeah, getting involved in the family by applying for one of the positions on the notice board. I chose the once which involves the least conversation with others. I have been in a number of families, there is a reason I didn't take my fathers name and he didn't take his fathers...I don't want these people mailing me. In saying that, they're not all bad *Exhales, crosses his arms, looks over to Sarfas and shrugs* |

Perhaps it is apathetic/passive aggressive attitudes like that which discourage 'young turks' from making more of a contribution. Dont like being talked too? Whatd you do when you were new to the life? Dont like talking to people of a similar rank(I note that you are a civilian)-thats just elitist and those insular attitudes dog this game at times Im afraid. Is 'quietly earning' doing petty after petty really that fun? By all means a boss gets to choose on whatever means he wants but the complaints dont just come from new people. And if you feel that you should be upped thats just ambition no? *Frank takes a small step back thinking he has perhaps gone a little to far* |

I am way past my promo as you all can see,but it is my own fault for being so damn lazy. I amsure when I am ready for that promotion it will be there waiting,like my boss always says she would want nothing more than a family worthy of there promo,I agree thats why I am not bothering her about it. I will continue working my ass off until I get there,I mean it is no big deal either really. The only thing that will be different from my position and my next is I will be a stronger donkey,I will be able to transport more drugs and make me and the boss woman more cash. With that being said,I believe the key to get your promotion has alot to do with patience. RockBottom |

*Denny smirks slightly and rubs his chin* I'm all about respect Frank, that's why I keep tight lipped. I mean, if I see a high ranking Mafiosi acting like a common thug I wouldn't pass judgement, at the moment I'm only a civilian like you said, simply not my place. I'm sorry though, I don't accept "passive aggressive attitudes like that which discourage 'young turks' from making more of a contribution". Quite simply, what exactly are we doing here, organising crime in cities or taking kids to the zoo? If I was running a family, I don't want some softy Mafiosi watching my back, I'd be too afraid he'd break down and cry in the middle of a gun fight. If someone wants a nice and simple, easy going job, I suggest they leave the mafia and become a civil servant. You might have misunderstood me with the ranking thing though. It doesn't matter to me what rank someone is, I'll look and act accordingly. If a Capo walks past I'll show the due respect, a thug....maybe not so much. Its nothing personal, its just the way this thing of ours works. No I don't see petty's as that much fun, it's a means to an end. I don't see exchanging mails with complete idiots who I have absolutely nothing in common with fun either but the good thing about the latter is that I can omit it from my life quite easily. I do talk to people just in case you think I'm some sort of mute, it just so happens that I'm not all that interested in the conversations the majority of the community bring up. My ambitions are to strengthen the family I work with not personal. If I'm of better use as a wise guy and only a wise guy then a wise guy I will remain *Walks over and pats Frank on the shoulder* Don't worry about it, I'm thick skinned and don't take offence easily.
