The Story of Tie: Part II Started by: Tie on Jun 29, '09 02:03

Tie takes a sip of water and sits on the hood of somebody's car before starting the second part of his story.

Now that you've all had a break and have soaked in part one, I believe we are ready for part two! Where did I leave off? Oh yes, at my banishment from Toronto.

Having saved up some money, I took a train, talk about irony, down to Niagara Falls. I spent a little bit of time down there, helping out with a smuggling ring, that got Canadian whiskey down to the States, and doing a few other small-time crimes, before I decided it was about time to try to live a normal life.

I took all of my money out of the bank, chartered a small plan to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and bought a small house. I got a job at one of the local steel mills, and put the rest of the money I had saved from Toronto, towards setting up a youth hockey league, even coaching one of the teams, "The Penguins."

Living a normal life was a challenge that I embraced at first, but it got real boring, real quick. Soon I realized that I wasn't going to be able to get out of "The Life." I thought there wasn't much organized crime to speak of in Pittsburgh, but I decided to set out on my own to see what I could get into. I quickly found that if you aren't Irish, German, or Polish, you aren't worth anything to the criminals in Pittsburgh.

I started off trying to do some train jobs, but I found out those are damn near impossible on your own. I tried my hand at robbing local stores, but I found that the different nationalities were more organized that I thought, and didn't want others doing anything in their territories. The Irish were often used as the muscle for the Italian Mob, elsewhere, so robbing a "protected" store would bring hell down upon you. The Germans didn't want anybody outside of them, doing anything in their neighborhoods. If you even step foot in one of their areas without permission, you risk death. The Polish were easily the greediest of the three groups. They would do anything for money, and they would do anything TO you if you got in the way of their money. I found I could do crimes in their territories, bu I had to give them a cut of the profits, or they would take it from me.

The danger of criming in Pittsburgh didn't bother me at all, but I realized that I was getting to be famous around the city for my work with the youth hockey league and I didn't want my kids getting hurt. I had a decision to make...keep doing the league and living a boring life, or giving the league to somebody else, and pursuing the life of crime, once again.

After a week of thinking about it, I had made my decision, and it was one of the hardest I've ever made. I told my kids goodbye, and gave my team over to a friend of mine, Pennsylvania senator Jack McGregor. He had this crazy idea of making the team into an NHL team, something about an expansion draft or something. I really have no idea what he was talking about, he was always an odd one.

Anyway, Toronto was my home, but Pittsburgh became my soul. There's no other city I'd rather be in, and that made my decision all the harder. I decided to leave the city because, even though I gave up my team, people still knew that I cared abut them, and would use that against me. Risking my own life was one thing, but risking somebody else's is something I couldn't bring myself to do.

I called up a friend of mine that I met in Canada who was, at the time, Left-Hand Man to Boss Premier of New York, and he got me in with the Spanish Inquisition, and back on the track to the life of organized crime.

Glares at Tie

I think you're forgetting what an IMPORTANT role I've played in your life.  Without me, you would have had no greatness to aspire to.  I am your muse.  The Mozart to your Salieri.  Don't deny it.

Report Post Tip

takes talent to suspend ones disbelief, well done.

Report Post Tip

You are no muse of mine, Mr. Pickles! I do not aspire to live in someone else's shadow, as you do mine.
