| Stability or Change? | Started by: Silvio on Jul 07, '09 13:05 |

Silvio steps up onto the little box and clears his throat Hello everyone, I have come here today to share some topic I have always wanted to know what you guys think about it. It has been a long while, however we still see the same people that rule and have the ultimate powers, and some of us call this stability. Stability is required for a good society, no one can disagree with that but why do we need stability in a mafia organized society? Do you think Stability and seeing the same faces that have the power in their hands for a very long while is good for our organization or we need to see more new faces having better chances? There are a few that are almost 1 year old. To be honest some of them have done a lot for us and our world and have made it better for business. To be honest I think some of them have done their best to help our world get better day after day and they deserve the gratitude that they don't get. Others may have tried that in other ways, maybe we don't understand that but not all minds agree. So in general I guess stability has helped our society much mostly because it helped people show their true colors and what they are capable of. Instead of just a war after war, as we all know wars are never good for business That's my opinion of it all and now I'd like now to listen to your opinions ladies and gentlemen. But please let's be honest, it won't cost us much. By the way I'd like to take advantage of being here in the streets to Congratulate Godmother Marietta for being one year old on July 14th. Silvio takes a seat and gets ready to listen to everyone's opinions. |

"By the way I'd like to take advantage of being here in the streets to Congratulate Godmother Marietta for being one year old on July 14th." I'm going to die tomorrow of lupus just because you said this. Just to spite you all. |

I appreciate the sentiment, but defending me from lupus might be a huge feat. And yes, I'll actually muster up a decent reply to your original speech at some point, instead of these little witty one-liners. |

stability is a good thing as you always need something to fall back on but then a new fresh face oftern brings change, to oftern do you see people get into a comfortable rut that goes from day to day, then a big change comes in and they can not handle this and crumble, change is oftern a good thing. But ow so oftern does change go for the bad as that change that was once a fresh face gets battle hardened and the rut then starts all over.... |

I don't know why we can't have both. Call me greedy, but I think we can have stability and change. The fact that change occurs doesn't mean change can't occur without stability. There has been quite a bit of "non-violent" change over the years, but we tend to forget about that type of change because we'd much prefer to think about and remember war and death, and blood. I think many people are standing about near this particular street corner and saying to themselves "stability sucks, we need change," but are too afraid to say it out of fear that the change that will happen is they will no longer exist. Honestly, I don't particularly mind change or stability. I just go with the flow. That is my nature. And I'm sure you all needed to know that, so you're welcome. Any time I can share my opinion, I'll gladly do so. |

I believe that recently we have seen both stability and change, the same people seem to be lingering around while the others seem to come and go. Not particularly anyone's fault, it's just the way things have panned out. The 'lingerers' are the ones who are stbilising our community and i do not think we thank them enough for the hard work we put in to do this. It is important we have both stability and change, it is good to have both. |

well upon listening to this debate i would like to offer my humble oppinion. For me change is inevitable in every walk of life. Its nice to vary they way in how things are run and ifact the personell that run our cities and our crews etc. We have all seen crew leaders come and go,sum have had a short shelf life, some have a little longer, some great some didnt live up to there promise. Now i think for me its pretty obvouis, lets put this into perspective, were saying Godmother Mariettahas been here for 1 year, and in this lifestyle,40% of us dont live 6 months.she has been here all this time and lived through all the wars, and done many great things for Detroit and why is this? Well because she has a STABLE set up,STABLE in the cl she has and STABLE in the rules she sets for the city. As i stated earlier change will happen, but i think that stabillity is what is needed within this thing of ours. |

Stability is the only thing that keeps this thing of ours, "La Cosa Nostra", a functioning way of life. I am old school, I may not always agree with a decision a Boss may make but "THE BOSS IS THE BOSS". That means they are too be listened to, and if need be, you die for them. We are of good fortune too have stability in our leadership. And more fortunate that we have good leadership |

In the short time I have been here, things have been rather unstable to be honest. Recently things have stabilized and I am happier for it. That is a direct result of quality leadership taking over where less qualified leadership used to be. And lets face it, that is the kind of change we all benifit from. |

Interesting subject Silvio. I personally feel that stability is crucial to survival. If there was a war every couple days, people would get tired of dying and quit. However, I also feel that there should not be the same people in power forever. Like for instance when Anita was in control. She was godmother for a very long time. If I am not mistaken, a reset finally took her out. Do not quote me on that though. Anyways, enough of my rambling, you get the point. :) |

Standing outside of the pub smoking a cigarette Absolut over hears a mafioso speaking down the street. He walks down and takes a seat on the curb until he is given the chance to speak. Stability or change? Both can be very evil but both can be very good at the same time. One can allow for so many people to grow so much that it gets to their head and could cause more damage than good. Change would involve people dying and having to rebuild. At some point so far in the journals from my ancestors there has been always a group or just some business partners that have ruled the six... now seven cities. Some journal entries show that a group known as CP ruled for sometime and business was at a record high. Before them there was Oliver_Mctavish and JohnnyAxe that practically ran the streets. Now we have Marietta, ThomasRourke, Aurora, and Premeir. All allies through many many wars. Even if change comes it will be from another group. Yes even if it's one person making it to Godfather and doing shooting all the other Godfather's and Godmother's they will have a family and group of friends to help them. It's the lesser of two evils I suppose in a situation like this. Right now the leadership is fair and just. They have been quite forgiving to those that have made mistakes. My bloodline in recent times have made mistakes, but they aren't ridden from the shores like CP once did to my ancestors. You don't have to live in the shadows of dark alleys. You just simply have to realize that this world will change when it's ready instead of forcing and forcing for the change. After the last war we have become a very very young group of crime syndicates. Another war would wipe us all off the map, again. Why put that burden on ourselves? Why not just stick to the business at hand. The world changes on it's own practically. I for one don't care to worry about changing it. I serve my family till I die. Plain and simple, any respected mafioso does. Absolut lights up a cigarette and continues back to the pub. |

In matters such as this I always refer to Aristotle. Both extremes would be detrimental. Too much stability and we might as well be dead- monotony is bad for business. Too much change and we'd never accomplish any business either, due to the never-ending power struggles. This thing of ours, in my opinion, is at its best when there is a balance. |

I think that Stability is a great thing for buisness. I have been around getting on just over 1 year properly. Aiming for something instead of just messing around and getting to goomba then dieing for going Inactive etc. Lets no blab on my life story but.. While I was around in those days I noticed that there always was a war every week or two. No one could get anywhere and you would be lucky if you lived over two months. Sometimes that can be the case in the mafia but for a organiseation to really work it has to be stable. Many mafia familes make alliances and stick together unless one double crosses the other. Much like the game Godfather 2 but.. however having alliances does come at a high price. Alliance's allow people to see who you are close to and how to get to you if they want to. If you know where im coming from. for example to get someone out of hiding then you go after their family (this is in Real life) and that will drawn them out because they love their family. Alliances can be a weakness to yourself also but as long as you keep your ground and don't let anyone take over you and try to rule your city when they are from another city then you will be able to stand your own. It takes a lot of trust to be able to form an alliance where you help each other. Wether this trust be built up in Real Life or on game. Like the old saying goes.. Its takes months and years to build up a relationship and trust, but it takes seconds to destroy it. Stability is great for buisness and to show people what you are capable of doing. Without all this stability I can garantee we wouldn't see this many Godfathers/Mothers ruleing the cities. Marietta was the first ever Godmother/Father that I even experienced in my time of playing because no one could ever live long enough to get to that prestigious rank that comes with honour and a lot of hard work. Godfather isn't given by friendship. Its given by showing you can handle yourself, hardwork and trust. Rule your own city, place rules that others have to follow and go by them yourself without having to go back over your own rules and change your mind. So I think we should all Thank Marietta, ThomasRourke for being today here to keep this place stable for us all to be able to show our true colors and show what we are capable of. They have had many Godfathers along side them but they unfortunatley they haven't made it. Thomas and Marietta have seen their fair share of bloodshed and long sleepless nights of battling to keep this stability at bay so people can conduct their business. However it isn't just those two that have allowed us to have this stability, most of us have helped along the way. Without many of us Marietta and ThomasRourke wouldn't be here either and we would mostly likley be back to square one and be waring every day and never getting anywhere. However Marietta and ThomasRourke have always been there to help us and to tighten things that have loosened. So.. Yes Stability is a good thing because we can get along and conduct our business and show what we are capable of if we have time. |

(EXCUSE THE CAPS PLEASE) WE NEED CHANGE. STABILITY MAKES IT TO WHERE THE RUNNER UPS CANT EVEN GET A CHANCE TO PROVE WHAT THEY HAVE. BECAUSE, MAYBE ONE OF THEM WOULD BE BETTER FOR US THAN OUR LEADERS! IN A WORLD WITH STABILITY ON THE OTHER HAND WE CAN COME BACK TO THE SAME OLD SAME OLD AND KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO DAY IN DAY OUT.........BUT IN MY OPINION WE WONT GET THE CHANCE TO SEE CHANGE UNLESS WE TAKE ACTION ENOUGH WITH THE FORUMS..........WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION |
