Please, I want to hear if you guys think that some of these other players take grammar and spelling to the ultimate extreme. Please feel free to express why.

What do you mean by "take grammar and spelling to the ultimate extreme"?

I don't think I've ever heard anyone get killed cause they couldn't spell that is what I would consider the ultimate extreme. Also I would like to add that this probably should have went into the ooc forum.

As in -iv noticed- That alot of players really take it offensive if you use caps, slang ect.

Considering where this discussion is taking place, I'll give you this answer.

It seems to be logical that if you have something important enough to say in public, you put an effort into presenting it correctly. Not only does this make you look more intelligent, but it also preserves clarity. Everyone makes mistakes, but shitting out words in public like a raving lunatic doesn't seem like a wise choice.

If you understand what I'm intending to communicate without grammer then our communication is succesful. Some people believe that writing must always be bound by grammer in order to be globally communicable, and they are mostly right. Grammer is absolutely necessary when your audience is broad and unfamilier with you and your style of speach or writing. However, most can agree grammer is not necessary for correct communication, but it is tool to be used in the delivery of a message.

If the miscommunication of a message due to grammer has dire implications beyond the speaker himself, then there should be action taken against the speaker for causing whatever he caused. If I poorly write a message and it takes an innocent life, then take mine. The power of communication is vast for those who master it, and grammer is a good starting point for those learning.

I agree. Alot of people get annoyed with short hand, slang, miss-spellings. Personally It really doesn't bother me. Its just how some people are.Sometimes it can be easier that way.

I believe it is pretty easy to see the difference between somebody that speaks with a heavy accent and doesn't quite master the English language while making a sincere effort in communicating respectfully and a young punk that doesn't care about the way he talks and just blabbers and makes no sense.

In the example you mention, yelling (OOC: using caps) is something that can be easily corrected whether wou are a native speaker of the English language or you don't know a single word of English. Yelling your whole speech is just plain annoying and should be avoided at all costs.

There's a lot more to it than what you think, example;My ancestors are from Holland, we've lived in New York when it was still called New Amsterdam.Heh if things had gotten the right way, you all would speak fluently Dutch.Anyway, on topic. My point is I can not spell 100% correctly but always put in effort to articulate myself in the best way possible.

If I happen to misspell no one, would call me on it. Except Jono, but hey what can I say scousers in NY....

The tea supplies I see dragged into our HQ, it's crazy.Right where was I, yes your question about spelling and grammar taken to the extreme, I think you miss the point.When one makes a lot of mistakes in his posts on the streets this is 99% due to

• - not bothering taking the time to write a proper reply

• - this is ignorance

and note that

• - ignorance in public is not accepted

• - not being taken seriously damages your reputation

• - a bad reputation makes you a higher risk

• - you can die

All I am saying is, take your time to write a reply, I always have a little notebook with me where I have notes for my speaches.I call it the notepad, this way I can manage to keep my speeches as clean as possible.I am highly against abusive usage of voice racing, repeating and correcting yourself over and over.Your message is most clearest when you speak calmly, take your time for preperations and use correct spelling and grammar.
