Honestly, Started by: Silent_but_Deadly on Jul 12, '09 15:04

Sile is walking down the street, noticing that some of the "High Ranking People" just ignoring the "Newcomers, who are poor". She then see's a newcomer trying to conversate with a "High Ranking person", but gets ignored and brushed off, as if they are worth nothing. This bothers Sile very much and she decides to take a crate on the side of the street, stand on it and say.

I know that I am a newcomer myself, and I have not yet  been given the responsibility of being someone "High Ranked". But I do notice that most of the "High Ranked" people do not even spend the time of day on someone who is not on their status level. I think that they seem to forget that they were once young, and didn't know anyone, and how intimidating is it to even talk to someone with a certain status. Are you that busy that you cannot stop and chat? I think that as a whole, we could do a better job with befriending and socializing with the newcomers, because maybe 1 out of  10 newcomers actually stay. And if we want this world of ours to grow, I think that if we socialize with them, maybe they will feel like someone cares and decides to stay. And who knows, they could probably become the next God Father or God Mother. What do you guys think about that?

Sile looks around and see's that people are starting to come, she steps down and waits to listen to what people have to say.

Sile,

There are many of high rank that enjoy a discussion with everyone, regardless of their status in this thing of ours. Personally, I almost never ignore a letter- whether it's from a Godfather or a Goomba. But this isn't a social club. It shouldn't be expected that a Made Man+ would give the time of day to someone who isn't made. If you're not made, you're really not that important. If some people choose to ignore you, that's there prerogative. We didn't get in this business to be polite conversationalists, after all.

Report Post Tip

While Kates and her breasts may have a good point, most well-established Mafiosi know that ignoring all but their own social circle isn't very good for their careers. They need us hired hands to do the dirty work and make money for them. Anyway, I think you might have had a bad experience, but that that experience is in no way indicative of the whole.

Report Post Tip

This is totally untrue I take time out of my day to introduce myself to the new mafioso that are wandering our streets. Many of them are very appreciative and are happy for any help they can get.

Helping the new generation should be all our responsibilities, because if we the "high ranked" players don't help them who will?

Report Post Tip

Thinks that what she has said, was misunderstood.

I wasn't personally singling out one particular person, there are always people who are kind and take time out of their busy schedual to talk to them, but on the other hand, I'm pretty sure some of you know people who are not like that.

Report Post Tip

With all due respect to Sile, and no respect to Matt_Haas for his unacceptable references to my breasts regarding which we will be having strong words in the pool in the HQ later, I would like to clarify. I'm not saying that a Consigliere SHOULD ignore a goomba who's trying to strike up a conversation. I'm just saying that, if they want to ignore low ranked members, there shouldn't be any question or debate about it. They've earned the right to make that decision, and shouldn't be second guessed for it.

Report Post Tip

Oh, I totally see where you are coming from....

I don't have any type of animosity against any of the "High Ranked People", which I referred to them as, [& I hope didn't offend anyone] I just wanted to see where everyones head was at.

Smiles

Report Post Tip

Have you ever considered this from another point of view? What about the "high rankers" as you have called them, are ignored after messaging a Goomba?

And Kates, I do enjoy our conversations.

Afro smiles at Kates and continues...

I honestly don't mind if people talk back to me or not, and I can guarantee you that there are as many "low rankers" that ignore people, as much as there are "high rankers".

I hope that my reply has helped in some way.

Afro smiles once more and carries on down the street

I will happily attest to this fact. AfroSamurai has ignored my messages, my fruit baskets, and the few kisses I blew his way.

smiles,

Yes, I do think that it is a 2-way street....

I worry that people think the 'high-ranked' should stop and chat with any nobody who happens to want their attention.

These people deal with the more sensitive and illegal nature of their organization's activity, if Joe Nobody wanders up to me and starts asking me about my business, which is very suspicious behaviour as far as I'm concerned, I'm going to be on my guard at the very least. This could be anyone with their own agenda, for all I know they could be an informant trying to incriminate me. I don't have to take chances like that. This is why we appoint Captains and have associates to take the risk.

Joe Nobody should not be able to get close to the higher ups in any organization. They are supposed to be completely insulated through their captains and other lower associates. Please remember where we are and what we do. I'm not here to shake you warmly by the hand and invite you to come and have coffee with me. I'm here to earn a living and look after The Northern Lights business interests in Las Vegas so I get paid.

Helping the new generation should be all our responsibility; I'm 100% with you on that. However, I would suggest we help by demonstrating the thing they've come to join actually exists and that we understand it, rather than by greeting every nothing who arrives like a prince completely forgetting who we are meant to be.

I'm firmly of the belief if more of you hadn't been handheld when you first arrived; you would have a far better understanding what the Mafia is meant to be about.

Tallien looks particularly handsome today. You notice he has an emblem on his suit. It looks like it says:

~T~

Report Post Tip

Listening and taking everything in.

It's nice to see everyone's point of view on this topic, and yes, Tallien, you are looking rather handsome today.

Laughs and waits for the next person to say something,

Report Post Tip

I like a bit of chatter. Not many people message me though. :(

Silent your coming at this from the point of view of a free citizen of a free country, your forgetting the fact that once you chose this life of ours, you left that free country behind you forever. You are now a part, and at this time a rather small part as am I, of this thing of ours. This is not a democracy it is in fact a Oligarchy, where the Familes rule the streets and the Head of each Family controlls their underlings with the power of the divine. So if a member of a Family(which you are not untill you are Made) chooses to talk to a associate you are a very lucky associate. Always remember the Family is key and the bottom of the Family is still better than a associate.

Report Post Tip

Nods her head and carefully listens...

Very good reply.

Report Post Tip

Alfie stops for a while to listen what eveybody else got to say

You make a good point there Mr. King I completely agree with you, but Mr. Silent is right too. If we don't help out the lower rank how they even consider to stay because if they decided they'll stay because they don't know anybody here and how important to become an associate of a family.

Alfie takes out his lucky coin from his coat and plays with it

well I have seen many newcomers who not know anything bout our world and decided to stay. died exactly when their -48 is up and that makes their kin don't even bother to come back

Report Post Tip

My Left Hand Man has made a perfect point on the dealings with lower ranked mafioso and higher ranked ones of this world.

As a whole if someone sends me a letter in the mail, i'm going to read it and respond regardless. If someone comes to me to ask for advice on how to get their feet on the ground, I will help them as much as I can or point them in the direction of information they can absorb.

If their letter contains disrespect or questions of sensitive matter, i'm going to let them know that it's not appropriate to be discussing certain matters that don't involve them.

I've always believed that just because you have some form of power that you should ignore everyone below you. Along with that point though, if I don't want to answer to someone I don't feel like then it's my choice not to. I also am in full support of people following the chain of command given to them in the form of their inside crew structures and familial rankings. A goomba shouldn't be going to the Godfather of their city for an answer to a trivial problem. They should be going to the person in charge of the particular area of concern. Now if it's an immediate concern or something that has put their life in danger, then they should be notifying me about it so that I can take care of it quickly.

These situations pretty much boil down to how they are directed and formed. If you are respectful in your words, then there's no reason you shouldn't get it in return. We have to remember though, the life we lead isn't all about rainbows and friendship. It's about respect and heirarchy. Some people need to understand this better.

Both good points Alfie & Aurora, but one thing Alfie, I'm a Ms., not a Mr.
