Spring was in the air today, but a frost fell over this heart. Today was not the day she would hear birds singing their songs or the smiling faces of little kids. Today was the day the frost fell over her very soul. An ice coating over her heart. Today FrostByte truly found her name.

She awoke devastated by the blasts wafting through the city of Detroit. It was so loud that it had made her ears ring. She took her mother's words to heart and hid beneath a cabinet. Her mother had not survived the night but Frostbyte had. She would follow in her mother's footsteps into the life of crime. The problem was, would they expect her to be exactly like the small town girl they had met? Would they not allow her in because she was so different? She had grown up in the city.

She had the brunette hair like her mother but she wasn't entirely as cheery. Perhaps she got her attitude from her father. She had never met the man and her mother never spoke of him. Today she wouldn't dwell on that either. She had something much more important to do. She needed to find her way.

So she walked through the city of Detroit. Her home, her city and something she had a great passion towards. It was ruined. There were so many bodies strewn along the streets. She could see people laying their dead to rest. She hesitantly approached someone.

"Excuse me, do you happen to know where Spring was? I am looking for her body."

"No miss. Haven't seen her."

So FrostByte kept moving along the streets. Finally she recognized someone who may have seen her mother. Quickly she headed their way. It was a couple from the hotel her mother worked at.

"Excuse me, have you seen Spring?"

"A couple of blocks further you will come across her. We are sorry for your loss."

Quickly FrostByte thanked them for their kindness and set off towards the direction she was given. About three blocks later she came across her mother. Kneeling next to Spring all FrostByte could do was think. She was like her mother in the fact that she could get lost in her own thoughts. She thought of the many people that Spring helped that night. Sighing heavily she picked up her mother's lifeless body and brought it the crematory.

"She would not have wanted to take up much space. Could you cremate her and I will spread her ashes amongst the trees she loved to sit around."

"It will take some time, come back later this evening."

So FrostByte went home. She spent her time cleaning up the rooms her mother stayed in. She packed away all the belongings that she would not donate and politely declined the offer from the hotel manager. FrostByte had a home that she had worked hard for. She had been saving her money since she was sixteen. No one really knew where she lived and she wanted to keep it that way. Her mother preferred it for her protection and she would do the same.

As the evening dragged on she went back to collect her mother's ashes. Taking a stroll towards a small patch of tress in a local park next to the library. This is where Spring sat often to think over things. This is where she would be laid to rest. In her own patch of solitude that she enjoyed. Taking of the lid FrostByte decided to say a few words.

"Just like you always kept me safe. This is where you can rest comfortably." She began to spread the ashes. "Although you were kind to everyone and I have a long way to go. I know that we both carry a desire to see our home do well. I want to be apart of the rebuilding so forgive me for going against your wishes about joining this life. I loved to watch you work and maybe it can make me happy too. Rest in peace."

FrostByte scattered the last bit of ashes. Once finished she buried the urn. Only then did she sit down and really think. She needed to go somewhere. How else would she help Detroit? So she sat and thought about things further. Soon it was full on dark.

She had her answer though when she got up and brushed her knees off. She'd go looking for Fear. She would have to hope that her work would be worth more than a cheery disposition.
