FrostByte had been looking for a business opportunity in Detroit. As she wandered through the streets of her beloved city she found an Italian renaissance building, It was three stories and looked unused.  Spotting a sign she went over and took down the number. She just had to see the inside of the building. So she arranged a meeting for the next day.

As she took a tour she could see an opportunity forming. She wanted to be able to help the public and even see some of them educated. Even the poorest of civilians but she could also see the possibility for her mafia lifestyle to make the place more profitable. Smiling she agreed to the terms of sale.

FrostByte put in all of her inheritance into making this library complete. The first two floors were packed with wall to wall books. The main floor would be used for the children's center. She would arrange for an assortment of books for kids. She would have a story time rug and some small chairs made at the far east of the first floor. To the west she would arrange for some toys. There was a washroom on the main floor as well as a few rooms that would be used for Literacy programs and a study room.

The second floor she would have the adult reading material. There would be fiction and non fiction alike. The East would have the fiction and the romance novels that the women just seemed to love. The west would be the non fiction works. The books would consist of Do It Yourself and self help among many other titles.

The third floor she would make only for meeting rooms. These she would rent out to Godfathers, Crewleaders and local businesses that they may need the rooms for business meetings.  Each room was made to be sound proof. No one would be able to hear and there would be keys to get in.. So they would be locked when in use.

FrostByte smiled to herself as she had friends and family arrange the shelves until they were in order. She put the final decorating touches on it. The last thing to be added was the sign as you walked through the doors.

It was a sunny morning in the Detroit business streets. Zakiza was on his way to the public library that had just opened up. He was wearing his normal everyday attire, but today he added a hat he had bought a long time ago. The steps he made were relaxed and slow like a man that had no worries in his life. Today was his day off. Even though the bosses could call him and say that he had a job to do, he had no worries that something like that would happen.
Zakiza was really trying hard.

When he came over to the library, Frostbyte who sat behind the customer service desk greeted him. With his right hand, Zakiza bend down his hat and greeted Frostbyte back.

Zakiza walked up to the second floor.  There were books all over the place. They were in many different colors. Red, blue, pink, white, rosa, green, black, light blue, yellow, orange, some dark blue and some very dark blue and purple. There were so many books that Zakiza had no idea were he could find the one he was looking for. However, after scraping his hat a few times he looked up and saw a sign “Non-fiction –> West”. Zakiza walked over to the west side. He began to point his finger at the books side titles.
“D… Do it yourself for dummies. E… Everyday stuff to do. F…. Fight off bad habits.  G…. Go out, and do it. Oh, here it is H! Okay” Zakiza proceeded to try to find what he was looking for.
” Ha… Hawaii milkshake maker, make milkshake like never before. He… Height is no problem, when you can make stairways. Here it is Ho. How to manage your anger.”

Zakiza went down in the study room and began to read the book he had picked out.

FrostByte had watched the young man expecting to be needed for help. When he passed by her she smiled to herself and set about her paper work. FrostByte had papers to file away and get in order at the front desk.

So she sat filing papers away. She even had a smaller cabinet for information sheets around the city. Public places worth visiting and what not. She kept brochures for local businesses panned across the desk.

FrostByte finally got around to making the cards for books to be taken out. She felt prepared in her duties and role of looking after the library.

It had been a couple days since Britney had been back in Detroit, she decided to go walk around make sure everything was still where she remembered it being. She strolled down the sidewalk singing a song in her head yet again oblivious to the people around her. In mid song she accidentally walked into one of the light posts bumping her should quite hard. She stood there rubbing it until the pain slowly subsided, she was just about to start walking again when she gave the light post a closer look. There was a small round hole in it, and it went straight through to the other side. She got down a tiny bit and looked through the hole.

She saw something that she hadn't seen before along this strip in Detroit. Britney stood up looking around the light post. "Hmm A Library, I wonder when that opened up." She thought to herself. Knowing she had to go check it out, she looked both ways before crossing the busy streets of Detroit. Once she got to the building she was astounded how big this place was from the outside, she couldn't even imagine how awesome it looked in the inside.

She opened the doors and to her amazement the inside was even more gorgeous then the outside. Looking straight ahead of her she noticed someone quite familiar sitting at the Customer Service Desk.

" Frostbyte, what are you doing here? This place is amazing, I know I was out of town for a little while but I didn't think it was that long for them to build this place."

FrostByte had noticed the door open. She watched as Britney-Spears walked through them. Keeping her eye on her she realized she was coming her way. She wasn't entirely sure if she had just come to check out the library or to see her but she smiled. An actual, genuine smile as she recognized that she was heading directly towards her.

"Well you see I had a brilliant idea of a good place for kids but somewhere with amazing sound proof meeting rooms for the more business minded people. Seemed like a great idea at the time."

She chuckled and took a look around.

"Someone is making use of the study room so that is nice to see. What brings you about? Haven't seen you in the city for a few days I was wondering how long business would keep you."

Jaded found herself at the Detroit Library. She sighed in relief that it was empty except for her. She was glad for the peace and quiet as her mind raced. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do.

Slowly she ran her hands across the books on the lower floor. She read titles as she went along. Reaching the stairs she went up. And did the same on the second floor. She was always enthralled by books and felt some comfort from them as she wandered around the empty place.

On her last run through of the second floor she went upstairs. Trying the first door it was locked. The second was locked as well but it seemed the third was left open. She let herself in and locked the door. She needed some peace and quiet.

Jaded got lost in her own head and fell asleep on the floor.

"Hail Vongola! I am in need of scrolls that would provide me with entertainment, I seek adventure. what would thou recommend?"

Jaded had woken up to a bunch of noises. Silently she crept out of the room she was in and watched the commotions on the first floor.

Sighing she looked at the useless knife and wondered who really brought a knife to a gun fight anymore. She simply shrugged. Clearly they hadn't noticed that the librarian was long dead and that they would have to find what they were looking for on their own.

With an exasperated sigh she turned and headed back to the room she was currently using to sleep in.

Chiron walked up the steps of the Detroit Public Library and pushed open the doors. He was in need of certain information regarding the Michigan river, particularly the river delta near Ludington. The library was quite, not many people were around. This was to be expected as it was around noon and people were busy with work and other businesses. The librarian was an old lady with spectacles and as he approached her she looked up from her book.

"Hi, where may I find geographical information about Detroit. Mainly the Michigan river and its surrounding areas," he asked her quietly and she pointed to the right side which had many aisles. "Thank you," he walked towards where she pointed and went into one of the aisles. The musty smell of old books and dust filled his nostrils and he held back a sneeze. After scanning through rows and rows of books he finally found something. 'Michigan River Myths and Legends', the title read and he carried the book to a table in the corner.

Chiron turned the pages looking for something he might find useful. Finally he came upon something interesting. 'The river delta near Ludington is an eerie and mystical place. There have been accounts of people seeing ghosts in the region. Some have also claimed to see a dinosaur like creature emerge from the lakes. One thing common about all their accounts was the noise. A screaming howl like sound could be heard coming out of nowhere.' Chiron turned the pages to learn more. ' A few fishing boats tried to survey the water but those ships sunk near the delta claiming the lives of many men. Those who survived recalled feeling dizzy when they heard the howling noise. They even said that their compasses went crazy and other machines malfunctioned because of that noise.

Chiron put the book down and scratched his head. Was there actual ghosts or supernatural beings at play here. He got up walked back to the aisle and noticed that he was in the fiction section so he tried the next row. Here he found a few other book about the river. He took that book back to the desk and poured through it. 'The delta near Ludington is formed when the fast flowing Michigan river meets the stagnant lakes. There are areas where the fast moving currents come to an abrupt halt, as it lashes against the rocks and this might produce a loud whistling noise. The rocks in the area are Ferrite based and have magnetic properties. These rocks are said to interfere with electronic or magnetic machinery.' Chiron figured that this was the reason for all the myths he read earlier.

The next book had more information about the land. 'Marshy swamps surround the delta. Alligators and snakes are found aplenty in the region. Adding to the danger are regions of quicksand. It is not advisable to traverse the area alone. Boats are said to get stuck in the low lying mud and marsh areas.' It was almost lunchtime by the time Chiron finished reading all the books. Now he knew what he would find in Ludington, but he wasn't sure if he would find the hermit there. He thanked the librarian and made his way out of the building.

Not much was known about the book or even its origin, that type of mystery is what brought Figment to looking for it. His search would span through every single library in the United States and the best place to start would be close to the hearth in his very own city of Detroit which had one of the larger Public Libraries in the area. Taking his first steps inside he took note that most people there seemed to be the legalized type, those who wouldn't even know who he was by looking at him but had maybe seen him in a few papers; which is why he was surprised when two people scurried out of the place while talking about him beneath their breath.

Thinking nothing of the slight incident the enigmatic man shuffled deeper into the place and took note of all of the rustic smells coming from each and every one of the shelves in the area. It was the type of smell that he wasn't exactly used to and threw off the hunt a little at first, but refusing to give up was the name of the game and exactly how he planned to approach his search; it was only a few moments of crawling up a small flight of stairs when he noticed the section that read Non-Fiction and that seemed as good of a place to start as any.

Figs walked up and down many of the aisles but each time he was met with failure and soon the stark realization set in that he may never find what he was looking for, but it was too early to dwell on such negativity and after taking a seat at one of the many reading desks in the area he reinvigorated his will for searching.

Calling up one of his friends in the field of books and whatnot, he decided to make use of the meeting rooms on the 3rd floor and waited for the man to arrive. If anyone would be able to tell him where to find what he was seeking, it was the fabled professor who had helped him many times before, and only a few of those times was he held at gunpoint-- in fact, the two seemed to become slightly inseparable which may just be a minor bout of Stockholm Syndrome, but neither of the two seemed to mind.

When the professor arrived, Figment opened the meeting room door for the man and smiled profusely. He was sure that now he would be able to get to the bottom of this all! "Yes, yes. Come in.", he ushered towards one of the tables in the room and placed down upon it a piece of paper and on this slip were the words of a single book; upon reading these words, the professional's eyes glazed over and he seemed to be stricken with a panic that confused Figment completely.

"Did I say something wrong?"

"You're in the wrong place for this, my boy... I'm afraid you'll only be able to find this bo-"

The words danced in his mouth before completely reverting back inside and down his throat as if they were unable to be uttered and then without any form of warning, he fell to his knees. Unsure of what was happening, Fig stepped a bit back and watched everything unfold within those seconds; the professor was dead and now all Figment knew was that the book was not in Detroit, but where? This was such bad timing on the old man's part, he thought to himself before stepping over the body and making his way back down to the first floor.

Stepping outside he looked back at the Library and sighed. This was just the first of many stops to these buildings, he was sure this wouldn't get any easier from here.

Devante, Carlos, Oscar and Manny met at the Detroit Public Library.  It was the safest place to meet until they can get a ride to get them out of the city.  Less then a block away there was the ninth precinct police station and the boys knew the area.  Devante was thinking if this was Florida or Colombia he could dispatch a small army to stop this madness.  But he was not and he was for the first time powerless.  He was part of the Chicago Outfit but he still had business in Detroit's lower eastside.

She wasn't really looking for anything in particular, except for some peace and quiet. The library was notorious for not allowing noise and chatter, and honestly, that's the exactly what she was looking for. She slowly made her around the stacks, stopping now and again when something piqued her interest. She found her favorite author and ran her finger down the spine of each book until she found one that she hadn't read yet. She pulled the leather bound book from the shelf and find a quiet corner with no one around. She settled  in  a comfy looking chair and glanced around to see if anyone she knew was around. She saw Kinky_Roger and gave a quick wave, before opening the cover of the book that looked promising to read.

She read for several hours before she stood and stretched. She also had to pee. So she took a quick break, used the restroom and grabbed a sandwich. She settled back in, munching on her ham and swiss and reading at the same time.

Lil Peep had spent all day stumbling through the streets of Detroit in search of some kind of public park for him to sit down at, his head was cloudy from the Xanax bars he popped when he woke up this morning.. the streets looked all the same to him as he walked slowly in his half awakened trance, his bodyguard Tracy the only thing really steering him anywhere.. that man could take so many of these motherfuckers.. I only popped ten today and he was still functioning better than me..

The two stopped outside the large building, surprised, it was the library.. well it was somewhere public but still not secluded enough, but Tracy spotted some benches to the side of the building and began to giggle and stumble his way over, Peep slowly following behind as he stopped and rubbed his eyes to try and keep himself awake until he plopped himself down onto the bench next to Tracy..

"You still got that bottle right?" Peep heard Tracy mumble as he started to feel himself nod off a little bit as he closed his eyes..

"Yo Peep man you got that bottle..."

Tracy repeated himself before Peep woke up from his trance and nodded as he pulled the orange prescription bottle from his pocket and handed them to Tracy, the loud pop of the bottle echoed as he opened it and the light jingle of pills came as he tossed a few out into his hand and then popped them into his mouth and offered some more to Peep who shook his head.. Tracy laughed and capped them and handed them pack.

"Aite then man, maybe your already feeling too good.."

Peep took them and slowly stuck them back in his pocket before standing up slowly and stumbling around in his light headed daze.. he was having a hard time keeping his eyes open, but it was the piercing pain in his stomach that was starting to bother him.. the nausea was a little to much he quickly walked over to the public trash can and held his head over it before feeling his insides come up and into the trash as he puked from the nausea and slowly took a few steps back and leaned against the wall as he let out a deep sigh, the wave of nausea was gone but now he was even feeling more high then before.. he slowly fell down to the floor and placed his head on his arms as he crossed them over his knees and rested his head against them as he started to drift off into his drug sleep..

Report Post Tip

He awoken to find it was pitch black outside, Tracy had nodded off himself on the bench nearby and as Peep stumbled to his feet he could feel the sharp pain run down his back from the awkward position he awoke from.. His hand carefully rubbed the back of his neck as he let off a soft yawn and tried to take in his surroundings, it was hard due to the darkness, but he quickly remembered he was outside the Public Library before rubbing the bit of sleep from his eyes and approaching the bench pushing on Tracy who was snoring up a storm..

"Yo man, wake up we should get the hell out of here before someone shows up.."

Peeps words were a bit stuttered as he still felt the sleepy light headed high from the xanax he passed out on earlier that day.. He attempted to brush Tracy awake again before letting off a deep sigh and sitting on the floor next to the bench and pulling a small baggie from it filled with a powdered white substance and smirking at it before taking his finger and sticking his nail into it before shoveling it into his nose and taking a prolonged sniff and leaned his head back against the wall as he felt his mind start to come alive again..

"Sixteen lines of blow and I'm fine....

He continued to sniffle as the began to feel the cocaine drip down the back of his nose and into he esophagus as his mind began to race, he couldn't help himself from thinking about her when he got like this, feeling his life was only about the drugs, it was always her picture he found himself pulling from his pocket as he stared into it knowing he needed to give up the lifestyle for her as he brushed it with his finger and got lost in the moment.. until he was startled when Tracy woke up and began to groan as he sat himself up on the bench..

"Damn dog i can hear you sniffling in my sleep, you best give me a line of that shit I need to get out of this slump I'm feeling... and we gotta get to the airport dog, you got a show coming up tomorrow in Chicago we need to catch a plane.."

Peep gave Tracy some shit about trying to wake him up before handing him the small bag of coke and quickly hopped to his feet as the cocaine had gave him his new found alertness and quickly took the bag back from Tracy and took another small bump before putting it in his pocket as they left the premise' and headed off to find some taxi or way to the Airport, Peep really had no clue where he was going he just followed Tracy.. seems like he wasn't the bodyguard after all...
