Chicago weighs in on new bloodlines Started by: Sidious on Jul 13, '09 22:43

Sidious feels as if he's been walking these streets for days, trying to come up with the right way to deliver a message he's been giving quite a bit of thought to. It seems as though the topic he's about to discuss has been touched on a bit recently in a variety of different forms, so he tries to form his thoughts in a collected manner with the hopes of delivering a clear message as to what he's trying to stress.

Sidious approaches a small group of people gathered on the street corner, and whether they want to hear it or not, he begins to speak.

I've had some thoughts on my mind for the past few days, and although these topics have seemingly been beaten to death here in these streets since the beginning of time, I feel it is important to share my stance on them with the hopes of sparking some intelligent discussion on the matter.

I've come out here this evening to discuss the topic of new bloodlines, since it seems people have spent a lot of time recently voicing their opinions on the subject. This is also somewhat inspired by the -48 tattoo some of our newer bloodlines sport before having it removed after they figure out what they are doing on these shores.

First off, I'd like to state that I love working with new bloodlines here in our world. Let's be honest, we've all been there at one point or another, and without the guidance of experienced mobsters some of these bloodlines don't fulfill their maximum potential. As a leader, I'd love to have a "who's who" list of experienced bloodlines, but that isn't always a luxury you have when you're first starting out leading a new family. Many of the folks that I've welcomed into my HQ have been new, and my family has spent a great deal of time teaching the realities of this world, which is something I take great pride in.  You never know who the next great mobster could be, and the only way you'll find out is if you give someone a shot to prove themselves.

To highlight this point, I recently authed two new leaders here in Chicago, RjFuller and KingBenny. Both of these men are relatively new in this world, but displayed to me leadership qualities that I felt would benefit our world and those they come in contact with. Their bloodline reputation isn't what earned them this chance, it was the qualities they possessed that did. I think people lose sight of that sometimes, even when talking about well known bloodlines who have led families more than a few times. It is their leadership qualities that earn them the opportunity, not necessarily who they know or what their ancestors have done in the past. I know this should bring up some spirited debate, but I truly believe there is more to our leaders than what their name has meant in the past.

That takes me to the topic of the -48 tattoo which seems to be a hot debate topic here on the streets, and one that raises more than a few strong feelings. The gods have made this change here in our world for a reason, to help integrate new blood and make sure this thing of ours thrives for generations long after many of us move on. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I feel the need to try and reach out to these people, and give back to the world that has provided me with such a wonderful life thus far. I fully understand that one of these young people could one day grow up, wipe my family and I out, and take over the city I currently call home. This is a risk I take when trying make this thing of ours grow, one in which the consequences pose a very real threat to my own vitality.

With that off my chest, I'd like to announce a new rule I've adopted for Chicago: No shooting of -48 gangsters in Chicago, unless documented proof of attack or blatant disrespect is provided. If you kill them, we'll kill you. This goes for "authed shots" as well.

I know there is nothing original about this rule, but I feel it is important to share my stance on this matter, as it has been well debated recently. We're not re-inventing the wheel here, just keeping up with the changing times.

I'd like to see what the community thinks about the idea of giving back to the world we reside in, in the form of guiding new mobsters along as they first start out in this thing of ours. Are you the type of person who tries to reach these people? Or one who keeps to themselves and makes sure their own business ventures are well taken care of?

Sidious stands back and listens intently to those around him as they begin to share their views on the variety of topics the old man in the black cloak has just spoken about

[Dressed marvelously and looking handsome as ever, KingBenny applauds the speech.]

"Well put as usual, Don Sidious"

"From a leadership standpoint, I can't imagine why someone wouldn't want to take new blood under their wing. It gives leaders an opportunity to help mold people into what their vision and interpretation of La Cosa Nostra is. Of course, a well-groomed up-and-comer who grew up with ancestory in This Thing Of Ours is always a welcome addition to any crew or Family, as they often can function and earn on their own with little to no supervision. But giving somebody their start I feel can be rewarding as well, especially if that Man or Woman grows to reach great heights and achieves success for themselves and their respective Family."

"And of course it goes without saying that you will receive full cooperation from my Crew regarding the -48 Law here in our fine city of Chicago, Don Sidious."

[KingBenny returns to the crowd of people that have congregated to hear Don Sidious's speech, all of whom pale in comparison to KingBenny in terms of good looks and charisma]

Dulton steps out of the crowd and notices KingBenny and how well he is dressed and just smiles, and begins to comment.

Don Sidious if I may I would like to say a few words, because I have to agree with you on your points made out here. Personally I don't really see how this thing of ours could work without new bloodlines. Lives are lost every day in this world and when then is a war, well whole families are wiped out. Families have to replenish and grow again. I see it as the natural or of things.

One thing that has always confused me and this must be because of my youngishness among these streets is when someone of stature has been killed and there son/daughter comes to our shores, it seems as if then have been given a golden ticket to level back into their formal position while forgetting about the ones who have been working so hard to get where they are at. Personally, if you lost your position, you need to start from the ground up and work like a grunt and EARN that honor again. It shouldn't be just handed to you again because you are a friend of someone.

Sure some will say that they had to "work" to get back to that position, but I am sure that is not with out help and coaching from the upper management. Why aren't theses golden tickets passed out regulary to all mafiaso across the board. Those who deserve it of course. Lets not forget those who are working hard for the family and allow they the chance to shine, it just seems that happens.

I personally find it a joke and an insult with this whole -48 auth tattoo crap. Who the hell does that. This isn't the play ground and you get to pick who you are going to play stick ball with. If your time is up and you don't have a family. Well then time is up.

Don Sidious, thanks for listening Sir.

Shakes the Don's hand and walks over to KingBenny

Hey can I get the name of your tailor.

Timmy-Two-Toes, the on again off again left hand man of the family, stands beside Sidious as he speaks. He pays careful attention to his boss' words and decides to add his own perspective on one of his Don's main points.

After extinguishing his cigarette on the sidewalk, he walks up to the ever growing group and addresses them.

The topic of bloodlines both new and old receiving positions of importance within a family is one that is destined to be debated for as long as this life of ours exists. Those that are selected to run a family must always be the best and the brightest. No exceptions can be made here.

I want to take this opportunity to say that both KingBenny and RJFuller have proven themselves as very capable individuals that exemplify the standards of leadership set forth by former crew leaders. While they may be inexperienced, they have heart and I, along with all of the Darkside, know that they will make excellent additions to the windy city.

Congratulations guys! You have both earned this honor and I for one am happy to see the two of you receive it.

I couldn't agree with you more Timmy-Toes.
