As you stroll down the street, July 14th appears to be just like any other day. But it isn't, for today is the day of Marietta's Top Secret Birthday Spectacular. She had been around for so long, it was hard to remember what the world was like before her. The members of the Detroit crime syndicates, knowing how much their boss appreciated a good bash, made the wise business decision to throw her a celebration for the ages. She had taken Detroit from it's infancy as a city, when its borders were first opened to organized crime. Now a parade marched over these borders. A large crowd of Detroit mafiosi make their way down the streets. The ranks of the Rampage, Reckless Hearts, Revival, Retribution, and Reprobates fill the streets, with several members of the Riot! Castle carrying Marietta on a chair. Leading them is Matt_Haas, wearing a green and purple jester suit and singing. Kates, who had been giving shots of vodka to the normally conservative Haas and teaching him lyrics all day, followed closely behind amidst the crowd of those carrying Marietta. Matt_Haas twirled his baton as he sang.

Hey! Clear the way in the public street. Hey you! Let her through 'cause she's so elite. Oh Come! Be the first in your crew to be her pal! Make way! Here she walks! Raise your fists and your glocks. Oh you're gonna love this gal!

As Haas finishes his song, the Detroit family reaches a stage that's been erected in the central park. WillieRourke and EdwardRossi place Marietta's chair in the center of the stage, as the crowd gathers around. Several people anxiously await the chance to step up immediately, while others wait to speak later. But a hush fell over a crowd as an expensive black car rolled up to the festivities. The honored first speaker, undoubtedly, had arrived.

Stepping out of the car her driver took her by the hand and led her over to the celebration that was about to take place. Aurora had thought all day about the words she would say to describe Marietta, a woman who has stood by her for as long as she can remember. This was it, there was no more time to contemplate just what to say. Aurora walked up the steps and over to the microphone where many people looked back up at her wondering what she was going to say.

Good evening everyone. It's good to see such a turnout at this time to celebrate the birth of Marietta. It's so rare that people in this business live to see their next birthday. We all know of the risks involved in the life we lead, and that every decision we make will either take us to the next level, or send us to the bottom of the nearest ocean or river. What Marietta has accomplished in her life is beyond commendable. She has set a great example for the leaders of tomorrow.

I have had the privilege of knowing her my whole life. My grandmother and mother had also worked closely with her during their lifetime and always had good things to say about this woman we are celebrating today. She's always brought something fresh to the table. Magazines, papers, contests, and giveaways are not the beginning or the end of what Marietta has accomplished or will accomplish. People look up to her and aspire to follow in her footsteps. I know I did as her long time Right Hand in The Riot!. That is before she sent me packing for a city halfway across the United States. Even now, I'm proud to know her and call her a friend still. I visit her often and we meet up for lunch at least once a week. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thank you Marietta. Thank you for being a friend, an inspiration to all, and a strong woman in this world. I know there are times where you just want to relax and have 'Marietta' time, yet you put that aside when someone needs something. What some don't realize is that you can't be everywhere at once, yet you do your very best to try. That is something that most people would toss aside if they were tired and just wanted to relax.

I'm glad that I can stand here today along with the many others and wish you a Happy Birthday. You deserve to have the biggest party with lots of cake. I know that some of the others here have crazy things in store for you today. I am honored to be a part of the show.

Aurora steps down from the stage and hugs Marietta tightly. She whispers in her ear

'If any of these freaks scare you, today, we can get outta here and go shopping for shoes'

She knew that would give Marietta something to look forward to. Aurora walked over to a table where BrianRourke and a few others were sitting. She had a cocktail waiting for her, and couldn't wait to see what else was in store.

After a moment, Naomi steps up onto the stage and, taking the microphone, begins to speak.

"Marietta is a woman of conviction, strength, honour and pride and many people will talk about those virtues. But I'd like to talk about a trait that some would claim as a weakness but in truth, is her greatest asset.

Marietta is a mother hen.

She can fold her protective wings over her city, her crews and her family and do anything she needs to in order to protect them. She'll take raw talent that others dismissed as too immature, incapable of change and with a little shove and a smile of encouragement, she can hone it into something truly amazing.

Marietta hasn't just taken care of "her own" but has often been seen nurturing anyone who needed a hand and ultimately watching many of the people she helped go on to become role models in the community.

There is so much I could say about this amazing woman but the thing I find the most amazing, the thing I cherish, is that this woman, with all of her responsibilities and work, let's me call her mother."

Naomi smiles wide at her mother, who can't help but return her grin, as she leaves the stage.

Jumping up and seizing the opportunity, EdwardRossi gives a few remarks.

What else can I say about my siscousauntie that hasn't already been said? You've taught me more in the short time I've been here than I could possibly learn from anyone else. You are a lady who knows how to handle any situation, whether it be with your gun or your brain. Not everyone loves you, but they sure as hell respect you and what you've done for Detroit.

I hope that you live for another year and continue to show how great Detroit is and has been since you've been at the helm.

As many of the gathered men and women joined Edward in his toast, Kates steps forward for a moment.

"I will do my best to keep this brief, although that's something that I often struggle with. The simple truth is that many of us, when we arrive at these shores, look to others for guidance. We find certain beacons that guide us along our way. Models fit to imitate, that embody the qualities we value the most. Marietta you were there for me when I first came to Detroit. When my father died I was left with nothing, and you've given me everything.

I'm not sure how history will measure your accomplishments, Mom. But of all the things that can cause one to stand apart in this thing of ours... a gun... a street presence... it is your true leadership that sets you apart. The ability to take a wealth of different pieces and put them together to form a single perfect union. You will be remembered for many things. But I will always remember you for the dedication you show to each member of your family, and the loyalty that you inspire. Loyalty that is more vibrant and strong than I've seen with any other leader, and whose wealth is truly worth its weight in gold.

In short, you're the best... around... nothing's gonna ever keep you down!

Standing and watching the procession, I can't help but grin, it appears the whole world has turned out to witness this great occasion. I make my way to the front, hold out my hand to shake Marietta's with a grin. She looks at my hand and moves to shake it, I sidestep her hand and embrace her in a hug.

"You are a Godmother and you are a year old, wisened lady but you're not beyond a hug every now and then, Congratulations and have a great day, Happy Birthday Marietta!"

I take a step back so the others can shower her with praise.
