I rented a movie tonight because I was bored. The movie was September Dawn (I believe), and it's about a Mormon settlement and a wagon train of Christian settlers from Arkansas and Missouri.

The movie was based on a true story which I believe most people don't know about.

On September 11th, 1865 (approximately), 120 American settlers surrendered their weapons and infant children to Mormon men, who were 'protecting' them from Native American attack.

The Mormon horsemen led the members of the wagon train to a clearing, where either a band of Indians or the angry Mormons slaughtered them. 120 men, women, and children's blood was spilled on the earth, over a simple matter of a rogue Mormon militia.

The above paragraph is all true. To this day, nobody knows who actually commited the slaughter. I have nothing against the Mormons, but I believe that this rogue sect did it, with Indian assistance.

To this day, the Mormon church denies any connection to the crimes.

Twenty years later, after the slaughter, 1 man was tried, convicted, and executed via firing line for every murder.

Think about that.

Pardon my mistake, one man was convicted for the 120 dead people, meaning he recieved 120 counts of murder.

 I blame the japanese. That sucks though, 1800's was pretty lawless. Idk if I'd trust Mormons though. Don't they have like Magic Underware? I heard this from some retired Mormon preacher on a Radio Station.

Okay, Riddle, whatever you want to believe. But the convicted man was shot by an American fireteam made up of American soldiers. In the territory (can't remember the name) and was shot once. Five men fired five shots to avenge 120 deaths.

I don't know the movie you are talking about, but I am aware of the incident from studying history. The Mormons actually have a very bloody history. During the early years of their foundation, they were subject to several skirmishes and they were practically nomadic because of persecution for their beliefs. Many times the persecution took the form of attacks involving gunfire and bloodshed. It was really ugly.

When they finally settled in Utah, they "circled the wagons" so to speak, and used their remote geographical location and their strength in numbers to enforce their right to exist. They also were pretty brutal to dissenters within their own ranks, people who questioned the church or its leaders, and those who questioned Mormon dogma.

It's a very interesting history, and unexpected given their current perceived reputation for peacefulness and tranquility.

I thought the native indians didn't belive in violence

Indians not believing in violence? French and Indian War. The War of 1812. This very event (possibly). There were hundreds of Indian vs. Indian wars.

But, the people killed were anybody old enough to speak.

Certainly an interesting subject. While Mormons certainly have the right to believe whatever they wish, it certainly seems a bit ridiculous to me. Granted, I'm Catholic, and all religions require a leap of faith in some sense. But I've found that one can make a good, rational, logical for a pared down monotheism, especially Catholicism. Many other religions, such as Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, and Hinduism (to name a few) contain a wealth of beauty and wisdom. But I'm inclined to put Mormons closer to Scientology. While it's true that the Native Americans were violent, they were hardly more or less violent than most cultures

I remember seeing something like that on history channel. Brigman Young was behind it or something, I may be talking about something else. But from what I seen, Brigman Young ordered the slaughter of a few families and thier children while they were suppose to be under protection. I have a friend who is mormon and ehh.
