one can only take look at the Obits and noticed countless unverified emails having to be killed by the admin's so i suggest this, why not make someone verify their email address before they can complete a login into the game? create character page > confirm provided email address (click link in email admins send out) > Play game this can be an automated process much like any other game out there and would help take the load (even how minimal) off of the admins to do this and looking into sustainability it would also allow the admins access to more LEGIT emails for in game promotions or events

It actually does this (sort of). Its important to not delay the first time visitor in any capacity, so if it takes 10 minutes to get your mail, then you are long gone and moved on. So what we have is when you make an account, you are able to play, but with a nagging notice at the top letting you know features are limited until you verify, as well as a link to update your email (in case you used a fake one and actually do want to play now) or to fix a typo in it, or resend the notification. Killing off the fake email guys is literally like 3 clicks for me. I do it manually just to "get a feel of whats going on" every morning, I will probably automate it in the future, but glancing at the emails is part of my daily ritual to get a sense of possible mail problems or spam bots, or whatever... |
