Lana got to the peer on time. She was to deliver a message to a mobster, she didn't have a name, but she was to meet him down on the docks, at peer #3. The night was foggy and she could hear tug boats in the distance. She slowed her pace as she got closer and removed her piece from her holster tightly strapped on her right thigh. Lana held it to her side as to not be so obvious and she stopped dead in her tracks when she smelled something. She breathed in deeper to be sure then saw the lit end of a cigar in the shadows. He was standing exactly where her contact said he would be. He was tall, wearing a hat and overcoat standing near three huge crates stamped "NYC CARGO". She approached cautiously, not knowing who she was dealing with. The man stepped sideways and revealed himself beneath the dull light of a lampost. It was toto! He looked at her with a devilish smile and gave her that wink. Lana was delighted. She half turned to reholster her gun, smiled, and went to shake his hand. Toto, now this is a nice surprise...Her hand dissappeared in his, lingering there maybe a few seconds more than usual. His expression changed slowly, his eyes became serious...You probably didn't expect to see me either, did you. I came here to give you a message...She pushed him back behind the crates out of the light, just in case things went awry....That tope you were supposed to meet got shot two hours ago. Apparently, he's been giving bad information all over town. I don't know what this deal you've got here, but I was sent to caution you. Just then, a bullet ricoched and they hit the ground Toto had his gun out in half a second and Lana had hers right behind him. They were croutched down behind the crates, trying to make out where their attacker was. They waited. Not a sound could be heard. They obviously couldn't stay in place much longer and had to make a move. Suddenly another bullet exploded into the wooden crate, Toto grabbed Lana and pulled both of them to the ground and rolled them several times to a small area protected on three sides. They had no idea where it came from. Toto had a plan and Lana was staying put to seek out the shooter cover him. Toto peaked around the corner of the crate, with still no idea where the shooter was. He waited a second, took a deep breath and raced for the corner of a building near by. Another shot rang out and Toto felt the searing pain as the bullet tore through the flesh of his left shoulder. He cried out as he dove to the ground. Lana had her gun drawned around the crates and saw the shooter through the lifting fog. As the shooter was looking at Totos direction, she croutched and moved quickly. If Toto was still alive, that son of a bitch wasn't getting a second chance to get him. She had a clear shot in no time. She stood and shot once and the shooter went down. Lana started running and when she got to him, he was laying on his back with her bullet in his abdomen. He was still alive but not for long. As she put her gun to his head, she heard footsteps. She raised her gun in that direction and was releaved to see Toto. He was covered in blood but he was still alive...and he looked pissed. She stepped aside and let him deal with this asshole. Toto bent down and stared into his shooters eye's. He had no idea who he was. He didn't want to waste any time with questions so he just leaned over and put his hand around the shooters throat and put his face only an inch form the man on the ground. He glared into his eye's as he slowly choked the last breath from the shooter. Arrevaderci you bastard! Lana watched as Toto took the shooters life. He got up slowly and she was captured by his move. She walked up to the shooter, put her foot on the body and started to push him off the dock, with each roll, she sunk her heel in as far as she could. She stood there as it splashed into the water and she watched it sink lazily into the river. She turned her head towards Toto, who was slightly hunched over, but she didn't notice. She had a twinkle in her eyes...a spark that she didn't get often enough. She walked up to him swiftly, threw her arms around his neck and kissed him hard...reeling from the adrenaline rush of what went down. Toto cried out in pain. Her eyes flew opened as she remembered his wound. She came crashing down to reality. She pushed away from him and looked at his shoulder. "We have to get to my car, can you walk?" he nodded yes. She put her shoulder under his good arm wrapping his waist with the other and helped him up the path to the parking lot. She had parked far so her car wouldn't get noticed so it was a long walk. She helped him into the passenger seat and drove him to his family doctor. Her mind wondered to what went down tonight. She grined with satisfaction as she remembered the body sinking off the dock. |
