*The Hammer stood in the rain, contemplating how nice that 7.5 million was going to feel in his hands.  Or even better, how nice the boss was going to feel in his hands, when he delivered the money to her.  He could use a smoke, but that would give his position in the shadows away.  There's be time for baccy after he'd taken out this odd little godfather.*

*As the doors of the nightclub opposite him opened, light streamed out into the streets.  A pet policeman pretended not to notice the sound of laughter and music coming from within, and continued his beat around the corner...better to be somewhere else, in case the Lieutenant showed up and started asking questions.  A small, hunched figure silhouetted against the door for a moment, flanked by two mountainous goomba bodyguards.  Only two?  This was going to be easy.*

*The Hammer walked quickly across the cobbled road, his specially comissioned leather-topped moccasins silent on the slick surface.  His hand reached under his jacket for the semi-automatic he preferred for such jobs...fast refire rate, if unreliable at a distance.  But that was no problem when you liked to kill up close, like The Hammer.  He was 20 feet behind the three men, then 15, then 10, and they still hadn't checked their rear...sloppy...deserved this, to be sure.*

*The three men stopped by a town car, and The Hammer expected one of the goombas to open the passenger door for the godfather.  Instead, to The Hammer's surprise, the little man reached for the door handle himself.  As he did so, his jacket and shirt sleaves road up, revealing a mark on his wrist.  The Hammer was immediately behind one goomba now...the second was immediately behind The Hammer...unconscious and prostrate.  The Hammer pulled out his pistol, and aimed it straight at the back of the godfather's head...*

*...and then he noticed the mark on the man's wrist again.  Surely not! But...yes, there it was!  A tattoo, reading simply 1041.*

*The Hammer continued the sweep of his arm in a shallow arc, holstering his pistol, and melting into the night.  The first goomba could be heard telling heavy number two to quit fooling around on the floor.  The godfather, however, was staring into the darkness, a strange itch causing him to scratch at the tattoo on his wrist.*
