I like the new pics, very cool work by a talented artist. However, as I gaze upon them I wonder if the female population of the game will ever have cool default pics such as these. I see the name Mary associated with one of those and get confused. I understand that the artwork is not cheap, however, it would help the girls feel a bit special too and would encourage the use of these images thus making the many pennies spent on them more worthwhile and give the artist more exposure. Now in regards to the question of gender identification and the anonymity some of us enjoy when playing our characters and slipping into the other gender's role for a bit. I know that gender identification in profiles has been suggested numerous times. Even I have poo-pooed it in the past. If a question in regards to the CHARACTER'S gender were added to the sign up page thus determining the set of default pictures used for that character the answers wouldn't have to be included in a character's public profile. The answer would simply be used to determine the image set used. Honestly, even if it's one of Squishy's uber sexy stick figures it would be a start. The man has talent, trust me after having been the subject of a couple of his masterpieces I say that with complete and total sincerity. I know the majority players use their own custom profile pictures so this isn't high up on the scale of importance, but I figured I'd put it out there for consideration in the future. |

In my opinion it's just not right to ask him to spend game money on more pictures just for a couple people to use. In all honesty, most won't even use the new default pictures. So the money that would go towards female pictures would definitely be better off spent on other things. I guess it's just not a big deal for me. Just like wanting female versions of the rank and wanting things to say female pronouns instead of male or neutral. It's easier and less costly just to deal with it myself.
...I always imagined that if a woman was to become Made she'd still be referred to as a Made Man, kinda like commanding officers in some places are referred to as "Sir". |

If the game had leftover man-hours that needed to be filled, I would gladly put that time towards other projects like proper gender separation in the game. If the games rainy day fund had a deeper bottom, I would fund more art. But the reality of it is I have more work getting added to the to-do list than being taken off of it, and having an incredibly difficult time finding an additional employee that fits within our budget that is capable and doesn't require hand holding that would take even more precious hours away from my work week. It's just not possible at this time :/ |
