| GAME CHANGE: Sponsors ignoring jobs | Started by: Squishy on Jun 24, '15 15:09 |

A while ago we put in code so that if a sponsor ignores a possible associate who has done jobs for them for more than a certain time frame, their sponsor ability is temporarily toggled off. We then added in code so that if your sponsors had pretty bad contact rates, it would push you further down the list. This so far has not been successful. We are now working on code that if you continually get toggled off, you will be toggled of with a waiting period before you can be turned back on. If this is not enough, we will be slightly more aggressive and disable the entire crews invite ability for a time period until the matter can be resolved. It's really disheartening to see advertising money just blowing out the window because a few select individuals are content with getting shut off multiple times a day, yet just keep turning it back on and ignoring the possible associates doing job :/ |

| I wonder if these ppl are like me and playing from their phone? That is the only time mine gets toggled and is because I'm at work. I normally just keep it off though, maybe others toggle back on as soon as they see it off? I also know quite a few ppl that won't contact ppl because they assume they are an incog or don't trust them enough to give them an invite but at the same time feel they aren't in the position to mark them as do not contact. I think if the CLs gave their sponsors a set of guidelines and expectations instead of just flipping their sponsorship on it would help a lot. | |

Joey-Pastrali, Yes, when you select the option of "Yes, Send new users to me, and only me while I am active" option, and then you ignore the jobs being done, you are kind of cock-blocking the user that is waiting for your contact, cock blocking the other sponsors, and greatly hurting the advertising we are doing by locking the new users into jobs that will never result into a crew contact. If the sponsor does not want to participate, then I would hope that they would cease to keep turning the feature on multiple times a day when it shuts them off for no contact. If you do not want to take in new users, do not turn on the options to do so, it just wastes everyone's time and resources. Much like your question, it's intent is to bait and disrupt - ultimately just wasting time and resources. The next time someone pisses in your cheerios, can you please find someone with more spare time to cater to you? |

You're damn right it is our job as players to keep people on the game. Players are the blood of Mafia Returns. The more people that sign up and stay, the better the odds of expanding and creating more things. This isn't a mega franchise, its very grass roots and supported with love and respect for the game and what it provides us. If you don't understand that, I'm sorry. |

Ok, for a start calm your tits. It was an innocent enough question. Secondly, if you don't want your time or money wasted, make a crew designed to get people through the tutorial. They graduate and exit at wise guy (or early er if they choose to) and then get filtered into the game with a half tidy understanding of the game? |

Knowing how long you have played, the thought that you maybe didn't understand the sponsor system never even crossed my mind, the only thing I could come up with was that you were trolling.
We did that. the CL's flipped their shit that we were interfering in the game. |

Honestly, the job system works, and it works well. I am just fresh out of ideas on how to fix the few dragging the system down. The incentives don't seem to work, politely asking didn't seem to work, reminding them via code didn't seem to work, disabling them didn't seem to work, we now have very few things left to do other than disabling them. |

I dont understand what you mean by blocking. does the contact to a sponsor upon completion of 3 jobs only happen 1 time for a new user? So, they're not able to do jobs for other families also? thus making multiple contacts across the game? |

I must admit, I am bad for having my sponser ability toggled off, but that's not due to me not wanting to mail new people to get them interested in the game, but that's just because I have been idling, or leaving MR on my PC/phone when I am working etc, and yet I will be punished because I forgot to click on a button? I understand the thought process behind it, but I feel it is a tad bit harsh, especially when at least half of my recruitment messages are ignored, people carry on doing my jobs and then join someone else. I hope my post doesn't come through as discourteous, as it is meant to be a helpful input into this topic. |

I don't know if this helps, but may be a logo could be put against a characters name in the jobs section to indicate that it is a new master account, so that way people will know the importance of that recruitment message? |

I had honestly hoped that players who were designated sponsors would turn it off if they were unable to contact people for whatever reason. I guess I had high hopes for that ability to be used. If you feel that making it so that there is a wait before its turned back on would help then I am all for it. |

I agree with Joey and what you did before however maybe there would be a way to limit it so we are not giving them actual Crew Leaders but more of a tutorial system? We can keep new players on an Island of their own which can teach them the many ways to play, such as their own RIA's to race for but in a limited format so that they do not gain too big of an advantage over usual hitters. They can run a few free jails with a maximum of whatever you felt would be best so if you feel 3 would be enough to get them going and understanding how jails work, or higher, they can also do a few free MIA's for the same reason. I know a lot of this sounds like we are giving new players free stuff but that really is how I feel it should be for a brand new character. This game has many ways to play between earners, and hitting, and once you reach that hitting level you realize there is so much more work to hitting than just playing casually, true hitting in X amount of days requires a lot of dedication, the kind of dedication that may not reach out to a casual audience. Earning and Units would be what could reach out to a casual audience but many times they are not ever remembered for what they do, when a city dies the people thanked are the Leaders, very few every state the members that were awesome let alone by name, maybe this is something people should look to change for the future. But back to the point I definitely think giving brand new players a haven of their own to learn the basics of the game is a much better start, as I have recruited many new players and even wrote up a massive guide for them and helped them throughout it and they simply did not enjoy it and left the game. A place for them to do this without having to worry about other players may help a lot in finding out if the game is fun for you or not, especially without the ability to sign up learn a little piece of the game then get killed in a war days later. I get that people thought you were interfering with the game, but if the above I mentioned is possible with a form of lets say NPC Crew Leader and not actual players, I really don't think anyone has anything to complain about in what you mentioned. Anyways this is just my views as I was speaking on this earlier today and figured I would post it here since the discussion is being raised. |

I have never intentionally ignored anyone looking for work that has contacted me in the past. However, I recall getting messages basically saying so and so has contacted you and has not heard from me but is still not in a family... Bewildered, because I thought I was toggled off. Maybe I missed something but never intentionally. Also, I want to add there were two periods where I have been bombarded with contacts and I had to turn off because I RP with anyone who knocks on my door before I send an invite. There has been times when I felt like I needed to consult with my upper structure (CL) before a decision is made. This is and can be time consuming. Thus why I strongly feel new arrivals are not given enough time to get on a family. I thank you for caring. ;) |

Nina, Your crew has only 3 jobs in total, which means that you get notified on the 3rd job, then there are no more jobs presented by your family - the member is now doing jobs for another family. If you want more time, you need to add more jobs. When you only offer 3, unless you are super fast to respond, that member is probably already speaking with another family. If you had more jobs available, they would continue to do jobs with you, allowing you ample time notice the worker, go out for a smoke, come back and then mail if you would like. But by literally only having 3 jobs, you are intentionally creating a tiny window that passes by quickly and now they are communicating with a different family. Consider adding more jobs (They are cheap after 3) and you will find more that it results into more users. |

Zed,
In order to be toggled off, you had to have had ignored the ASSOC notification for 30 minutes +, and be active at least twice during that time to see it. (As well as being active in the beginning during their jobs to even have the jobs show up). It's not trying to punish you, its trying to create a system that puts the best match up with the best user. Being a sponsor is a lot like parenting. A sponsor who is online but just doing page loads but not reacting to the ASSOC notification really isnt a good match for a new user who needs a family now. They need someone who is online, active, and engaged. |

| Why not just disable this ability and do it like we use to by messaging noobs ourselves if we feel like it. Because im no unpaid employee. I like talking to people but i dont want to be forced to speak to ppl nor do i want my family to be punished for the one mishap | |

| Plus in another notion. Some people message these fools doing jobs for crew. And the jackass's dont respond or just do jobs for familiy to eecieve money then join a friend. Waste if peoples time and taking money from others just to join friends. Hell some these fools dont even join a family at all after jobs. | |

I don't think we should be responsible for keeping new members here to be honest. If you invest money into advertising, to bring new people in, who will spend money, so you can keep advertising. Then it's your business to make people want to stay, not ours. We play the game, spend money, have fun. Do our thing. We shouldn't be in charge of keeping your turn over turning. The tutorial systems could be way more in depth, as stated above. It would be excellent for the brand new players to have a city of their own, inaccessible to the outside world to learn in. However it may be set up, it would be far more effective than relying on the community to do it. And it would be a better protection for your investment into advertising. There shouldn't be any pressure at all when it comes to recruiting for your crew, you should be able to do as you see fit, without any kind of restrictions or concerns about the flowing community. |
