Corpse in the bathtub. Started by: ScipitaRourke on Jul 27, '09 14:06

You walk down the streets on your way to the local pub.
You're in a hurry as the wind just started blowing trough the streets at the same moment a big cloud went in front of the sun.
In a minutes time the so sunny day had became very grim, allmost spooky.

Just before you reach the door to enter the pub you notice a pamflet hanging on a lamppost.
There's a picture on it and some text scribbled under it.

Looking for information about this person.
Name and adress wanted.
Information handled discretely.
500k reward.
SR.

You look again at the picture, yes he does look familiar..
A young guy, doesn't look like the regular gangster..
Perhaps a civilian or a cousin from that Don you ran into the other day...

Hmmm, you can't figure it out.. You decide to take the pamflet with you.. just in case you remember.

You walk through the doors of the pub and directly notice the strange atmosphere...
Looks like it's stormy weather inside too.
The bar man is sitting on his chair smoking a cigar throwing angry looks at three giggling thugs sitting near the pool table.
Scotch on the rocks please you hear yourself saying to the bar man.
The bar man grunts and with some effort gets of his chair, pooring you a drink.

Whats up with that scum over there, you ask him...
The bar man sighs, they're joking around about the incident that happend in the ScipitaRourke Mansion...

Heh? What incident? I just go back into town, bring me up to speed...

Well apparently, the bar man continues, someone dumped a dead body in her bathtub...
They're still thinking it's an inside joke, but the fact remains she doesn't know who the punk in the tub is...
And those thugs over there find this all very funny.
You should have seen ScipitaRourke earlier, pale as a ghost.. I mean sure the woman is used to some violence here and there..
But something tells me, she doesnt like dead bodies in her bathroom...

You take the pamflet out of your pocket... Who is this guy?
That 500,000 is looking pretty sweet... If only you could remember...

And then it hits you

Walking down the street Jono noticed something posted on a lamp post. It was looking for information. Offering a reward. That's when he noticed the photo. He gulped and took another look.

"Shit" He thought to himself. This is the guy that Scipita found in the bath tub this morning. What the hell?

Who is this guy?

Any ideas? Anyone...

Kates ambles up, dropping a cigarette and crushing it with her heel.

You feelin' okay, Ethan? I've seen more than one person crack up and start talking crazy about "stories"... must be the heat.

She sighs and leans against the nearby lamppost.

I'll do my best to rack my brain for you, Don Scipita.

Her eyes raise to the clouds as she ponders.

Il Siciliano nervously gulps his drink, grabs his cane and leaves the premises immediately. It seems he is either having a very bad day or something more devious that usual has happened in his life lately.

Here is a mystery we can all try to solve together, why is it that a Goomba finds it ok to speak to Don Scipita like that.

Probably another one of lifes many questions, that can't be answered.

GodFather Premier, with all due respect I was joking around. I am sorry for any feelings of wrong, and disrespect that I have shown towards Donata Scipita. If I must bow a 1,000 times to show my respect I will do it 5,000 times more.

A well-dressed man sits in the corner of the room, a map set out in front of him. Leaning over it he studies it with his permanent grin. This persona of a happy person is only skin deep, his true feelings is of frustration as he tries to figure out the best places to buy and sell product. He rests back into his seat as he takes a break sighing, "If only I could get that reward money I wouldn't need to figure out were to go."

Leroy lights a cigarette, as he looks around the room listening to the bull session the talk of a possible prank. He listens to a wise crack about the happenings, rolling his eyes a little before stopping on a familiar face. He didn't look great when we met before; in fact he seemed to have snuck out of the room. "Il Siciliano I think his name is, I wonders how he is doing." Folding up the map the drug sale is shit right at the moment anyway. He begins to fallow Il Siciliano out of the joint.

"Hey hold up I quietly call out to him..." Casually fallowing to his right so that he could see me easily, my friendly smile plastered to my face.

After listening attentively to the barman and having a few drinks, Crazy Nine starts to get annoyed after looking at the pamphlet still not being able to put his finger on who this guy was. He certainly looked familiar, but of course, this picture wasn't really flattering.

Crazy Nine paid his tab and briskly leaves the pub. He decides to walk back to the "Monkey Cage" to see if anybody remembered anything about this guy. It's not like he was really doing this for a reward. Of course he wouldn't reject it, but 500k wasn't really the amount of money that would make him engage in a mission that could potentially occupy him for more than a few days unless one of his bosses told him to, he could make more money following his usual routine.

As soon as he walks by the door of the Cage he gets struck in the back of the head by a moldy banana. He turns around grabbing his head and sees Starshine shaking her fist at him yelling something about not having washed his moldy old banana as promised and walk away. Crazy Nine decided that it wasn't the best time to ask about any corpses in bathtubs at this time.

He heads over to Deimne's desk to make sure he wasn't needed for any family business before investing time in this new mission. After finding out that there were no pressing matters for him to attend to he hands the pamphlet to his boss. Taking the pamphlet in his hand, he glances at the picture. He stares at the face, racking his brain.

"Hmmmm. Yeah, I've seen this kid. He was hanging around in one of the downtown bars the other night, shooting his mouth off if I remember right. Couldn't handle his liquor I guess."

Sips on a glass of scotch, still gazing at the picture.

"Go talk to Gino down in the cage. He has eyes and ears everywhere. He'll know the kid... and anything else worth knowing. If Gino don't know about it, then fugget about it!"

With a renowned energy he goes to find Gino only to find him passed out in the dark alley around the corner. After a few unsuccessful slaps, Crazy Nine asks his muscular security guard to take him inside and give him a cold shower. After some yelling and splashing Gino comes running out of the bathroom just to be caught by the neck by Crazy Nine.

"Whoa, there buddy! Not so fast. I need the service of your eyes and ears." He shoves him the picture while he notices a spark of fury in Gino's eyes. As Gino motions as if to rip the picture while trying to wrestle out of Crazy Nine's grip, Crazy Nine says:

"Listen, buddy. Deimne himself told me to ask you about this guy. Do you want me to tell him that you were no good?" and releases the grip as a way of letting him know that he was better off not trying to escape again.

Still with an angry look on his face, probably for having been brought out from his buzz, Gino takes a look at the picture and snickers.

"I guess the kid got what he was looking for sooner rather than later. He was having drink's at the bar next to Johnny's den the other night. He was as loud and obnoxious as a cock siren and he hadn't even had that much to drink. He was mouthing off about going to Scipita Rourke's mansion and getting laid. We all knew that this wasn't gonna end well."

Crazy Nine snaps his fingers. "So THAT's where I had seen this guy before. I couldn't make out what he was yapping about but I was there that night as well. But why is he showing up dead in Scipita's bathtub?"

Gino's eyes opened wide. "This is in HER bathtub?? Whoa! That is an interesting twist."

Crazy Nine scratches his head and decides to head off to Scipita's mansion with his newfound information. He turns to Gino once more and asks him if he remembers what was the guy's name and address.

"No. But I know who would know for sure and where he can be found. If you drop me off at the bar two blocks away from his hang out and buy me a bottle of scotch to get buzzed again, I'll take you." Crazy Nine raises an eyebrow since he didn't like people giving him conditions but realized he wasn't really asking much so took him up on the offer.

When they arrive to Gino's acquaintance's hang out, Gino steps out of the car and asks Crazy Nine to wait by the nearby square since unknown cars generated a little paranoia in this neighborhood. After just a few minutes Gino was climbing into the car and handing a piece of paper with poorly written name and address on it.

"Are you sure I can trust this? I'm not about to go embarrass myself in front of somebody like Mrs. Rourke!"

"Pfft! Just drive to the fucking bar."

When they arrive at the bar, Crazy Nine pulls out his wallet and gives Gino the money for the scotch. Gino grabs the money and hesitates for a moment weighing options. He finally speaks up.

"Can you actually wait for a minute for me?" Before giving the chance for an answer he jumps out of the car and a mere few seconds later he hops back in with a bottle of scotch under his arm. "I'll let you share this bottle with me if you take me as your assistant to Mrs. Rourke's mansion. When else will I have the fucking chance to walk in those premises?"

Crazy Nine looks at him in stupor and decides to play along and drive off just for the sake of saving himself the time of having to kick Gino out of the car.

When they arrive at Scipita's mansion they are surprised to not see as much security as they would have expected but they asked the guy at the door to announce them. The man comes back shortly and asks them to come in and wait for a few minutes.

"Well," says Gino "since we are having to wait for a few minutes, do you mind if we take a walk around the house to admire these wonderful gardens?"

Both the man and Crazy Nine looked at Gino in stupor. Reluctantly, the man granted Gino's wish. As they were walking around the house Crazy Nine noticed a piece of paper on the floor and pretended to reach down to straighten out his pants and discreetly picked it up. The contents of the note blew his mind away and thought that he was very lucky to have found it since if truthful was the missing piece of the puzzle.

By the time the finish the improvised "tour" and walk into the mansion, Scipita was coming down the stairs wearing a lovely dress that took Crazy Nine's breath for a few seconds. After asking the gentlemen to follow her to her home office he asks them to have a seat and accept a drink. She immediately asks them what the nature of their business was.

"First of all, thank you for receiving us in your lovely home, Mrs. Rourke. I am pleased to say that we have valuable information for you, or we wouldn't dare waste your time. I will not bore you with unnecessary details or even tell you the result of my findings since you are going to want to read it for yourself."

Crazy Nine stands up and slowly reaches into his pocket and takes out three pieces of paper. First the pamphlet so she would know what the information was about, secondly the piece of paper with the name and address of the dead man and finally the piece of paper he found on the floor outside her house. At first her look was of shock, followed briefly by disgust and then a look of relief and a smirk, most likely from finally having found out the answers to her questions.

The note read:

"Lovely Scipita. I have made sure to restore your honor once again. I will never let anyone slander your name like this vile punk did. I will always protect your good name.

And just like any loving cat would do, I catch and kill my prey and present it to you as a gift and a token of my unquestionable and unbreakable loyalty and devotion I feel for you.

Also I had forgotten to bring a shovel with me and I didn't really know what to do with the body so thank you for that.

With love,
(Rourkey)Rourke."

Can it be true, Scipita Rourke wondered that this person really was just a nobody...

She hand't seen the feds snooping around aswell looking for a missing person, though usually they avoid her mansion anyways as it's close to ThomasRourkes...
And ever since ForkRourke had throwing cuttlery at them, by accident ofcourse, they avoided this neighbourhood..
Didn't the news reached them yet that ForkRourke was fishfood these days?
After all his body was locked up somewhere in a basement and then transported to somewhere and well I guess the body got lost somewhere in the process..

But nevermind that, thats a missing body case.. we have a missing identity case here...

Could Rourke really be responsible for this?
The note was definately suspicious but seriously would Rourke not know she would freak out about this?
He hadn't called her for days, thats unsual...
Maybe he wasn't the guy she thought he was after all...

And where did Il_Siciliano and Leroy go?
Are they responsible perhaps?
They recently got accepted into the family after all...

No something still was missing from this puzzle...

Just a one-sheet, words, a grainy picture, some mook who found himself in the wrong place at a very inopportune moment. He turns the pamphlet over in his hands, studying it intently, a sense of familiarity. Some politicians kid or that cub reporter for the Post who disappeared a coupla Sundays ago? Didn't seem quite right, not jibing...left him with a hinky feeling as he folded it up and tucked it away in his pocket.

The tension inside the gin joint was tenable as he pushed his way through and settled in at the bar. The bar man was shooting daggers at a trio of fanooks cozyed up to the pool table carrying on and laughing it up, chewing on his cheap nickel cigar more than smoking it, jaw working overtime, paying Holden no mind. Tiring quickly of the cold-shoulder routine he pushes the heavy glass ashtray off the counter and watches it shatter on the hardwood floor, crystalline slivers flying. When the startled bar man turned to him, Holden gave him a quick up and down, stacking three fingers on his right hand together then motioning at a bottle of Glenfiddich. He had worn his tolerance for bullshit out a long time ago

He knocked back the first one in short order, simply saying "pour" to indicate a refill was necessary. That one went the way of the first, and again. He tilted his head towards the punks playing pool, eyes never leaving the bar man's and asked "What's up with the chatty Cathys?", listening up, getting the skinny on the incident that happened at the ScipitaRourke mansion. As the story unfolded he shifted his eyes to the billiard boys and back to the bar keep, rubbing his chin pensively and lost in thought.

"You know, the first thing I would do if I found some stiff in my tub and thought someone was pranking me is cut that sumbitch open and see if I could find anything inside of him. Maybe We don't have the same kind of friends but the guys I know would think nothing of leaving some sort of clue inside that John Doe...like sending you on some sort of cadaver scavenger hunt..."

Report Post Tip

After hearing CrazyNine's story ScipitaRourke was still in doubt, would Rourke really be that self centered?
Thinking she wouldn't mind a corpse in the bathub... After some long thinking she realised she allready knew the answer...

Rourke was indeed responsible for the corpse, surely he didn't mean bad.. By all means don't get me wrong.
But oh oh, some manners and clothes wouldn't be a bad thing every once in a while!

Thank you CrazyNine, I've told my accountant to wire you $500,000 for the golden tip.
