| Immersive Durden Characters | Started by: SammyGato on Jul 12, '15 16:59 |

I've been banging on about immersion in a few places now, this one extends over the Durden spawns. I propose that Helpdesk/Helpers/Dedicated team of RP enthusiasts could have access to the inbox & personals of Tyler, Bob and Marla. With no statistical change or benefit to the players other than the immersive experience. Durdens are becoming stale now, they arrive, we shoot them all, they die. Except for the few dumb-dumbs like myself who don't know when not to shoot them, so subsequently die and get a little bit of funeral desecration, there's not much interaction involved. It's a +1 fest, pure and simple. I hope this wouldn't take much to code, the effort would come from the team monitoring mails/sending mails. Now, if this was managed by members of the community (I don't mind getting involved) there is the obvious issue of players knowing who can kill/not kill Tyler & friends. I would suggest some kind of anonymity mechanic employed, so all wack attempts are stealth with just the option of *Send MM?*, similar to the Assoc Jobs Board system. With the ability to view the big three's MM and Personals, you can see who killed each of them (Until Tyler is left of course). With these abilities in place, it protects the identity of members who want to take shots at the big three, their forts or BG's and someone behind the scenes knows that there's the option of sending a mail in response to these attacks. There would also be the option to send random MM's to other players, taunting or threatening them (Within the RP confines of appropriate threats) if the person pulling the strings of Tyler & co. found the time/desire to. All in all, this would add the ability to interact with the Durdens, if people are into the idea, we can find out if the mechanic is possible or if there is a team who are willing to do the background work of giving Tyler a little bit more bark. |

What about these classy fellas? If you are in the top VIP list, you can send taunts/receive tyler mail, but its anonymous both ways. |

This way its an incentive to be in the top list, plus also these people are very active in the forums and are more than likely to understand the line and what would be crossing it, so it would require very little policing to ensure that things stay sane. |

I love that Tyler Durden reply. XD I guess I have to get back in the top V.I.P posters! I'm more classy than that SammyGato guy. :/ |

Top VIP doesn't always favor the ''quality'' side over the ''quantity'' side, but nevertheless I'll be interested to see what comes of it. |

I have to agree with Sovereign about the quality and quantity of the VIP. I kinda think that is just going to encourage people to write a whole pile of things just because they want the top spot. Will they be of quality? Some, I doubt all of them would be though. |

Cin, Its a good thing there is a checks and balance system among all of the games upper structure to keep those cheating the system in check. People can only get away with things if their counterparts in game endorse it either through inaction or permission. |

That'll be something we can keep an eye on by the individual efforts made if/when implemented. If someone is mistreating the feature, I imagine there will be repercussions. |

Squishy, While that is very true. On one hand things like businesses can be created but leaders (as far as I am aware and I may be wrong) don't have the ability to remove them from the business district. Same for things like street threads. Although for Streets I wouldn't encourage leaders to remove those things anyways but businesses should be looked at for that option. We had someone not long ago post businesses that weren't businesses. However, they got the points from it that's for sure. So yes while I agree that leadership should be looking at the quality of what people are posting. I can also see where some might just feel like its a waste of time because whats done, cannot be undone. Unless you shoot them which may be a bit extreme at first. |

Burn the business down. Instruct the member. Put a bullet in the leaders head. Whatever level of escalation is required to get the point across. |

Personally I don't think upper structures should be responsible for keeping the streets ''clean'' above a basic level. Sub-par stuff isn't there for leaders to clean up. While you can instruct someone to improve his forum activities, that's restricting his freedom. Shooting him seems a step too far. If this is going to be implemented, I'm sure there is a way better way to actually give this privilege to people. |

I'll never understand why upper structure should embrace those that make fools out of them. You really shouldn't endorse the whole "lack of pride" mindset, its a horrible thing to support. When someone is dragging you down, making your crew look like total amateur hour, shouldn't you care enough to try to prevent it from happening again? If the crews really don't think their members activities are their responsibility then maybe we should remove the rewards they reap from it. |

I think the ability of the top 10 VIP's to send mail from the durds would be fun as hell, and add to the immersion, as well as give the VIP list a little more to it. I think giving more incentives to post and gain VIP points is overall a great idea, and the only way quality would suffer is if the community let the standards slide and don't dont take responsibility as a collective. Families should be responsible for the members posting in the forums, much in the same way members of the family reflect their crew with the way they conduct themselves. This is the mafia after all, so it makes sense that crew members actions and words will either add or subtract from how the family looks and is represented on the streets. So, naturally the mafia family will want to employ people who represent them in a certain way, and will 'take care of' those that represent them in the wrong way. The mafia runs itself and has it's own rules and etiquette and certain ways of dealing with shit, which like it or not can mean a bullet to the dome. I'm not sure how posting in the forums doesn't reflect back on a family, and in turn shouldn't be policed by the family. |
