Ezio examines his watch and looks at the eager crowds gathering before him Ladies and Gentlemen i am Ezio a writer of many talents today i shall read out to you part one of my story Love and War i do hope you enjoy. Ricardo Giovanni was a well known and respected wine maker in his home town of Naples a place where everybody knew that nothing could even come close to Ricardo's wines and that made Ricardo and his wife Rosaline very wealthy and happy. Today they were even happier Rosaline had gave birth to their first born. Ricardo eagerly made his last delivery for he had to do his deliveries before he could even think about visiting the hospital. Many thought ravaged Ricardo's mind whilst he drove through Naples headed for the hospital. Is it a Boy? Is it a Girl? What will we call him or her for that matter ? As Ricardo cruised through the side alleys of Naples he noticed something strange lying in the road it looked like a human,Ricardo suddenly pulled over and exited his van quickly he rushed to the body. It was a young boy he was covered in blood and barely breathing,Ricardo carefully lifted the boy into the back of his van and drive rapidly to the hospital which was about four miles away. When he finally arrived at the hospital the first thing Ricardo did was carry the boy inside and onto a nearby stretcher, immediately three doctors rushed the boy into intensive care. Ricardo was asked where and how he found the boy and so told the doctor the whole story. With the boy safe as can be Ricardo's main object was now to find his wife and bambino and so started with reception, who guided him into the ward. Ricardo looked around the ward and three beds down lay his wife with their child in her arms,Ricardo edged closer and looked at his wife and then at his bambino "Is it a boy?" asked Ricardo quiveringly. Rosaline smiled and nodded, Ricardo glanced at his son just then he looked back at his father his dark chocolate eyes sparkling. Five whole days had passed and still Ricardo could not think of a name for his son. whilst stacking some crates he began to remember the boy in the road and whether he survived and if his parents knew but these thoughts we're short lived when Ricardo checked his watch and realized it was time to visit his family. Upon entering Ricardo was approached by a doctor his face was familiar and then it struck him like a bullet to the chest this was the doctor who had quizzed him the other day when he brought in the boy. Eagerly Ricardo asked "how is the boy i brought in a few days ago ?" fearing the worst Ricardo braced himself but to his surprise the news was good they boy had lived and wanted to see Ricardo to thank him for saving him. Ricardo peeped his head around the curtain to the boys bed while the doctor gently tapped the boy on his shoulder and whispered in his ear. The boys eyes light up as he looked towards Ricardo, for a hour they talked and Ricardo got to know him a bit,Ricardo eventually had to leave to visit his wife but before he left he said "What is your name?" The young boy replied with "Aldo". Ricardo smiled and vanished to his wife's ward. Ricardo greeted his wife Rosaline with flowers and his bambino with a vest with a picture of a formaggio on it. Rosaline looked at Ricardo and said to him "Do you have a name for our bambino?" "Yes i do we shall call him Aldo" replied Ricardo and together they hugged and stroked Aldo's stomach. Three years had now passed and Little Aldo had started walking and talking. Ricardo was having his doubts about Italy and was interested in moving to America or England in a country with a real government and a safer environment for Little Aldo and so after convincing Rosaline to leave Naples Ricardo gave the family business to Aldo and his family and packed up for England after being refused entry to the US. When Ricardo and Rosaline arrived it was to their shock that England was just like Italy with crooks and slums but not as many as Naples. And so Ricardo opened a bakery in London which brought in a steady wage. Severn years more had passed and Little Aldo was now ten and speaking with a London accent ready for secondary school whilst Ricardo and Rosaline retreated to their rooftops and gardens. Ricardo's story was over now he had accomplished all he had wanted but Aldo's story was just beginning. Secondary school would turn his world around but that is a story for another time so for now good bye and farewell. |
