In my opinion Obama should not have shut down Gitmo becasue the info learned there was valuable, we now have nowhere to store captured Terrorists and the interrogation and treatment of those detainees was not nearly as bad as The Taliban and Al-qaeda treated and would treat prisoners in the past and in the future

Hm...that's Gizmo, Rourke. But, Gitmo shouldn't have been shut down because of the terrorists. As soon as he brought those terrorists into the United States they gained the rights of an American citizen.

we should put all terrorists on old ships in the Middle East ship them to the US with a skeleton crew when they are in the middle of the ocean they should sned a sub to pick up the crew and then torpedeo the ship with the terrorists on board locked in the bottom, except for the leaders they shoudl be tortured and slowly, this would get rid of the terrorists and we wouldn't have the problem of where to put them, they could also make the ship look like it hit something and crashed , or they could use them for ship gunnery practice, countless ways to do it

The United States of America should not torture. We were founded based on certain ideals, and torture is a betrayal of those ideals. There may be a hypothetical situation in which I would torture someone, but that doesn't make it right. Besides, the people who were in Gitmo were not all terrorists. Some of there were just grabbed and dumped there for years with no due process.

And furthermore, various people who were involved in Dick Cheney and Co.'s more persuasive techniques were convinced they were not effective. When you torture someone, you're not motivating them to tell you important information- you're motivating them to tell you anything you want to hear, whether it's true or not. There are more effective methods that happen to legal.

I think Obamba should have his daughters live with the residents of Gitmo after they are released. He'll see how sweet and loving they are then.

At least two of them will get a head start on the virgins they're supposed to get in heaven after they blow themselves up.

the people held in gitmo were not charged, there was no evidence against them they were just suspected, it was right obama stopped it innocent people were getting tortued because of their ethnic group

Whether or not they are "nice people" is not the issue. I'm sure nobody would want them living next door. The issue is that they are being held indefinitely without trial. That sort of thing is against everything our country stands for. We believe a man is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. Or, at least that's the ideal we were founded upon. In reality, that belief has long since gone the way of the dodo bird.

These are not all prisoners of war. Many of them are citizens of the United States and political enemies. Most of them are merely suspects of vague conspiracies. Also, closing Gitmo does not mean they are released. It means they will be moved. Read a fucking newspaper.

I was not promoting the rape of children. I think people that prey on children should be tossed into an incinerator. I just used the most extreme example I could think of. I was promoting the proper handling of these prisoners. Process them and get them on their way. I do not think they should be brought here to gain the same rights that American citizens have because they are not American citizens.

Mr. Ox. I don't think that you needed to call me that. I don't need to read newspapers when I listen to Obama's speeches on the matter. He said, on two ocassions during his campaign, that they are harmless and misunderstood. I just happen to disagree with him.
