Though it is really none of my business to ask such, even though it isn't a personal "thing". I just wanted to see what the general consensus of Mafia-Returns political beliefs were.

Though I am of no age to join any political party, I can state that I previously(Until Obama) sided with the Democratic party. However, seeing as there have been a lot of mistakes made, as well as lack of common sense in the White House; I've lately been looking more towards the Independent-Republican parties.

At the risk of turning this into a political debate, exactly what mistakes have been made by the White House thus far? I don't think our President has been in office long enough to make so many mistakes to turn you away from the party. Even if he has, how could it turn you towards the Republican party after the laundry list of (intentional) "mistakes" from the previous executive administration?

I second Butt_Ox.  It's going to take at least 2-3 years to even get thing back on a level playing field after how the last regime left things.  Gotta understand people, things are fucked up and you can't expect one man to come in and change things over night.

If you want to see some positives, just look at how our relationships with other countries are being mended back together.  That's a start. Just takes times.

And Noah, if you would've been able to comprehend my question, then you would know that the only information I was interested in knowing was ones political affiliation. It sounds like you are only interested in taking a poll. What is the point in that? It's boring and basically spam, although that does seem to be the standard fare for this forum. It is also basically impossible to have any meaningful dialogue on political affiliation without politics being at issue. It's practically an oxymoron, which was the point Noah seemed to be alluding to.

On a side note, were you criticizing Noah's grammar? If you were, that is pretty laughable. Critizing Noah's grammar, combined with your profile quote, make me believe that you perceive yourself to be a linguistic savant. You might want to take a step back, because I could pick apart everything you have written here. The content of your writing is far from impeccable grammar and word usage. Don't be an ass. If you understand someone's point, that should be good enough.

This is a slippery slope, I believe the old saying is you never discuss politics or religion in polite company. Since Butt_Ox is here though I believe that's gone out the window. :P

In other news, I'm a registered republican but I'm more of a libertarian. Fiscally conservative but socially liberal. I don't give a damn what people do in their own lives as long as they don't get my money to do it.

PR_Rep, funny you should say that, because The Libertarian Party is technically the Republican Party in it's purest form, even though they are different (see how I just talked in one big circle? Maybe I should be a politician!). Many Republicans tend to share Libertarian views.

Theoretically, the Libertarian Party is conservative politics in its purest form, but the Republican Party has not been traditional Republicans in over 30 years. Republicans traditionally stood for small government and fiscal conservatism. Those are the things touted by Libertarians. Ever since Reagan and the neoconservative movement, Republican executives have amassed huge deficit spending policies and expansion of federal bureaucracy...the antithesis of their traditional identifying characteristics.

It's difficult to say just what they DO stand for these days. As far as I can tell, their biggest talking points are anything that is anti-gay, promotes the integration of church and state,  and twisting the ideology of liberals to make their agenda sound anti-American or evil. What they do behind closed doors while spouting "feel-good" rhetorical buzzwords like "Family", "God", "American", "Patriotic", and who could forget "Family Values" is subsidize big business while opposing the labor movement. What annoys the shit out of me is the deception involved. Instead of explaining their economic philosophy of supply-side economics as their campaign platform, they hide behind the demagoguery to bluff uneducated people into voting against their political and economic interests.

These diversion tactics are nothing more than a distraction akin to "Hey, your shoelace is untied" to get the voter to look away to avoid seeing what is really going on. Also, spouting these buzzwords like "Family" imply that the opposition is opposed to these concepts. It's pretty ridiculous, and I can't help but think that the people who fall for it are morons. The old, fat, white, male Republican (who will be caught in a gay sex scandal in two years) states that he is a candidate for the family. Just what does that mean? Is he suggesting that the opposition is anti-family? Are there really people out there who are anti-family? And just what does that mean, anyhow?

What it means is: "I won't get elected if I tell you what I really plan to do once in office, so I'm going to throw around meaningless buzzwords that make me seem like a good guy. Meanwhile, I will point out all the potential shortcomings of my opponent's proposed policies. You know, that other guy who actually IS stating what he will do if elected. I will do this without suggesting any alternatives of my own. But hey, family family family, patriot patriot patriot, God Bless America."

By mistakes made in the white house, I decided to look into what I initially believed were mistakes made by Obama; only to find that I had forgotten about the time lapse between Election and Inauguration. So honestly, all attempts made by Obama so far have just been him trying his hardest to fix Bush's mistakes.

I am a Republican but I will listen to the Demacrats and I will listen and then I will talk to them and hope they listen too

Our whole frickin government is screwing up all the time. And trying to change tons of stuff. It doesnt matter if we hav a republican or a democratic president. It just doesnt matter. Our government sucks most of the time
