Part 1: https://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/645962#10826715 Part 2: http://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/648099#10826712 I haven't slept in a little more than a week. 8 days to be exact. I know that because of the dates from the papers Anthony brings up each morning. Maybe an hour here and there throughout the night and some during the day when my body could no longer handle the exhaustion. Every night, the same dream. Every night, the same result. There I'd be, on the mattress in the parlor of our apartment waking up screaming in terror. I let Anthony take the one bedroom in our apartment since he was the one doing the jobs to keep the bills paid while I laid low so the heat could die down. Anyway, back to the dream. It was the hit all over again, everything played out just as the events had happened . The gunfire, the yelling, the ringing in my ears. It was all there. It was like watching one of those moving pictures at the fancy theater downtown. I'd stand up, filled with adrenaline. I mean I don't know if it's even possibly but I still feel the adrenaline kick in, every single time I dream. I go barreling in at these guys like a wildman, except now it's like in standing outside myself watching it happen. Crazy, right? Anyways, I fire, BAM. The first one drops. As crazy as it sounds, I don't remember watching the guy die during the event taking place but as I watch it all unwind in my dream state I see it so clearly. Then, BAM. The second is fired, his body drops. It's when I dive to the ground that things get even crazier, if that's even possible. As I take flight into the air I rejoin my body. I feel myself flying through the air in slow motion and WHOP! I feel the breath leave my lungs as I hit the ground. Only, every time I open my eyes and look over to the face of my victim, I see my father. His brimmed hat and slicked black hair lined neatly above his ears. His charcoal eyes, lifeless but yet glaring. I begin trembling in terror, I can feel it. Regardless if I'm asleep I know I feel the terror writhe through my body. Then he speaks. "Tommy boy, how could you do this to me?" Over and over again as he crawls towards me. That's when j wake up, screaming. You can see now why I haven't slept and I might never again. I sat mostly alone in the apartment day after day. Anthony was out finding ways to line his pockets and keep a roof over our head, we didn't talk about it much. He hasn't been interested in speaking with me beyond a few things here and there since I had been back from the hit. I still feel as if he resents me for being chosen for the job. Like I stole the spotlight from him. Here he was, a guy made for a job like this. Not an ounce of care or remorse in his body and because my old man used to be somebody, had some friends. I get chosen instead of him. I get it, I really do. I didn't just see this as my way in though. I think that's the part he didn't understand. We were a team, had been since the day we met in Peoria. Two young guys tired of breaking their backs for nothing who just wanted a piece of the pie. In this business, sometimes you had to do things you didn't feel comfortable with and you take opportunities when they arise. I'm sure it's the same in any everyday Joe Blow company. The one thing I could still count on though was everyday he'd bring me a paper. One of the few conversations we have had in the last 8 days was the night after the hit. I felt like I could still talk to guy, get a little morale support. Instead, I got a paper the next morning and every morning since. I had told Anthony how I was told to lay low and keep my nose clean for awhile. I worried the boys in blue or worse case the government boys would be out looking for me. So Every day, either to be funny or in his own way to show he cared, I'd get a paper. Of course, day 1 was littered with events that hadn't much taken place. "A gang war breaks out in downtown hotel". "15 people killed in Mafia melee". Also extremely fabricated. The thing I most wanted to keep up with was the descriptions of the suspects. One day I was 6 foot and 3 inches. I am not 6 foot foot and 3 inches. Another day I had a hat. Neither of us had wore a hat. By this time, 8 days after the event, I mostly read just to see what I was wearing, height I had grown or new distinguishing feature I had. The idea of the ten thousand dollars I didn't have, all of the things that money could buy that I didn't have began slowly eating away at the exhaustion. Besides, as the day's went on the headlines moved further and further away from the front page. A new bloodbath to be written of a new indictment to be analyzed. Today was the day that I would finally know what it feels like to be somebody. Oh, how I would walk the streets with my head held high. I would have to get me one of those golden pocket watches to go along with the new suit that I obviously had to have if I was going to live this lifestyle. My mind began to race with the shiny things I'd be able to afford, the broads who would flock to a young Italian stud such as myself all dressed up and dapper. The best part yet, I could pay the rent, I could sleep in the room with a bed, if I could get past this whole night terror thing. It would come, it had to. How could a young guy in a city like this not be relaxed knowing he's got that kind of dough waiting on him. Anthony had left early into the morning. Early crook catches the mark i suppose. He normally didn't return to the apartment until late into the night, I didn't ask questions. I started second guessing myself. Should I leave a note? Maybe I should wait until after I have a chance to let him know I'm going to step out so he doesn't think the boys in blue got me or someone wacked me. The money though! I suppose my fear of the outside world and the repercussion of my actions were wearing heavy on me even when I was awake. Much less horrifying though. I stood up from the couch and dressed myself for the day. I had to look my best. After all, I'll start the day a common thug with no money to his name and I'll return a well dressed moderately wealthy man. I probably spent more time getting ready than a man heading to a warehouse to accept blood money should. As I made my way down the stairwell in the building I noticed myself more cautious and aware of those around me. The elderly woman dusting off her rug in the hall. The children running around on the second floor, even the old man smoking in the stairwell I normally curse at as I trip over him before making the final set of steps. I arrived at the wooden blockade of a door that stood between myself and the outside world I had secluded myself from. This was the moment of truth. My mind raced back and forth through its anxieties. Would I be like my father and open this door to find some heavies who have waited for me to appear for the first time since the hit? Or would the boys in blue be there waiting to slap some cuffs on me and escort me to a prison cell. I quickly began to recall the words Carmine had said to me in the car that day. How I couldn't think about things the way I was. Of all the things that happened that day and despite my nightmares, that was the one thing I was thankful I retained. I could either stand here in front of this door and never leave because I feared suffering the same fate as my father. Or, I could step outside of these doors, take this city by the balls and turn upside down! Oh, and make a lot of money while doing it too. Carmine was right. You can't let yourself hold yourself back. Right now, this door is all that's holding me back and from this day on, Tommy Angelo will not be held back. A sense of calm and of confidence came over me and I swung the door open and touched the city streets for the first time in 8 days. This is my city, it's time I let it know I'm here. The warehouse is three miles from the apartment but I didn't care to walk today. Not only did I not care, I have no cash and don't own a car. I guess despite my cocky new found arrogance, I didn't have much of a choice. It was good to get out and see the hustle and bustle of city life once more though. I hadn't felt the sun upon my face or heard the sounds of angry motorists trying to get to where they were going from street level in what's felt like forever. I've also missed the opportunity to be down on the ground and having the chance to see Chicago's finest. No, not the Chicago P.D. but the ones with the cute little walks and I guess they could wear blue but it really didn't matter at this point. As I strolled my way down one block and up another my mind began to reminisce of the one girl I had loved in my young life. I was rationalizing why my mind was so fixated on the fairer sex despite all of the big events transpiring in my life and it was more than just hormones. In Peoria I had been in love. She was gorgeous young neighborhood girl named Angelica Delume. The first day my mother and I had arrived in Peoria I saw her. She lived two buildings down in another tiny complex for people of Italian ethnicity. She was jumping rope with her sisters on the sidewalk in front of their building. She was fourteen at the time as I was 15. She had a smile that could melt a Chicago blizzard, I'll never forget it. It took a few months before we finally met one another. Between my grieving of the events which had transpired before we left Chicago and doing everything I could to help care for my mother while also working with my uncle. I didn't have a lot of time to go make nice with a neighbor girl. On my way home from work one afternoon as I walked the same path I day after day with heavy legs and tired mind I heard giggling coming from a window on the first floor . I peered towards the window as I stopped my sore feet from shuffling and there she was. Angelica and her two sisters trying to hide their faces while still looking out at me. I'll never forget the frustration and anger I had from being giggled at turned to warmth. I must have looked like a fool, covered in dirt, smiling at a window. It was beautiful the lay her raven hair coated her shoulders as if they weren't there. Her face was red from embarrassment but then again I imagine so was mine. I had to talk to her, you don't see a beautiful girl blushing and giggling over you and not say anything. I motioned for her to come outside. I couldn't speak and didn't want to look like a fool or some kind of pervert by going to the window. She and her sisters giggled loudly at my motion and I almost walked away. That is until she rose from her spot at the window and disappeared from view only to re-emerge from the door way that led to the building. I probably sounded like a fool trying to make small talk with this beautiful angel which stood before me. She was gorgeous and that's not an exaggeration. We talked for a while, she was in school and was being raised by her mother who spent most of her time working in an factory in town. She watched her younger sisters in the afternoons after school and cooked and cleaned so her mother could rest at night. A real piece of work I remember thinking. Her father had died in an accident at the same factory that now employed her mother. Some kind of trade off right? I don't recall how long we stood on those steps and spoke but I knew one thing. I never wanted it to end. For the next few months it became a routine to stop at the steps and talk for hours with Angelica. Her sisters ever diligently watching and giggling from the window. Sometimes in the afternoons she'd have me some bread they had left over to eat as we conversed. Even as a young man I couldn't imagine finding a woman better than this. She was the idea of perfection for a young Italian such as myself. I'll never forget the first time she allowed me to kiss her, it would have happened sooner if she hadn't always turned away. This time though, 5 months into our talks on the steps, she let me. It was the most joy I had felt since my fathers death. I asked her one day if it would be alright for me to come to her apartment while her mother was home and ask for permission to see her daughter. She was extremely hesitant and almost seemed sad when I asked her. She explained how much her mother desired she finish her education, how she depended upon her to help with her sister's. Though it took some convincing, she eventually agreed to make arrangements with her mother. It was awkward to show up on the inside of the building that next Sunday. I had worked some extra time to be able to have the money to bring flowers for Angelica to Sunday dinner as an expression of my affection and to make an impression on her mother. Sunday dinner for Italians is a big deal, I wore my best and wanted to show my intentions in a nice way. I remember knocking on the door, my body was almost numb from nervousness. Angelica's mother answered and I greeted her well. I announced I had brought flowers for Angelica and her mother quickly removed me of them and sat them on the counter. It was obvious from her body language and slight acknowledgement of my greeting to her that she was not too accepting of a boy such as me seeking courtship with her daughter. Throughout dinner she drilled me as if I was applying for a 9-5. I answered questions about where I was from, where my mother was raised. I like to think I did a pretty fair job of dancing around my father's fate. Angelica had helped her mother prepare the Sunday dinner I had learned and throughout the interrogation process all I could think about was how beautiful she looked and how the macaroni was the best I've had since my mother had completely shut down. In the parlor after dinner as we sat and talked I expressed my interest in seeing her daughter. My heart sank as she replied a stern "No". I felt as if I might melt into the sofa. Angelica hung her head as her mother began to explain the reasons I couldn't see her daughter. I don't know why we had to go through this dance of interrogation and building my hope to crush it like this. It could have been as simple as not allowing me to come to dinner and letting me know why. Easy, would have saved a lot of the heartache I was feeling. Upon finishing her list of all the reasons it wasn't acceptable for me to see her daughter, I didn't do what I wanted to do. What I wanted to do was to stand up and tell the woman what I thought and storm out the door with her daughter in my arms. Instead, I acted the way I knew my mother would want me to. I stood up and thanked her for the meal and courtesy and left. I'm not going to lie, I cried the entire walk home. Even today as I make my way to the warehouse, up one street and down another, I still remember that being the longest walk of my life. A funny thing happened the next day as I was returning home from work. Angelica still met me on the steps to her building but only this time invited me inside. She had put her sisters down for a nap, managing to time events just right to where there would be no witnesses to rat her out. I remember being blown away and a little hesitant. I wasn't raised to enter a girls house uninvited and furthermore if her mother came home, I might as well kill myself now because she'd for sure do the job if she caught me. I couldn't say no to Angelica though, she had to feel the way I did for her to risk severe punishment she would surely receive if caught. As I reluctantly entered their apartment and she snuck me to her mother's room as her sisters slept I was scared, excited and filled with the confusion only boyhood lust could bring. As she shut the door softly behind us she smiled a bashful smile and slipped the straps of her dress from off her shoulders. That day was the first day we ever made love. It definitely wasn't the last but in what gets lost amongst quanity over the next few years of our hidden relationship this was special. Now as I think back on it, not the lovesick puppy I was then I can see its funny really. I not only screwed Angelica that day but basically sent a big screw you to her mother at the same time. Of course throughout the years we spent hiding our love and making plans for the future I knew someday she would need more than me. She was beautiful and educated while I was working my way from back breaking labor into organized crime. The week Anthony and I had decided to move to Chicago and work our way up the ladder of sorts in the criminal lifestyle wasn't fully fueled by the thirst for money or the lust of how easy it seemed to make it in criminal fashion but rather, on my part, heartbreak. Angelica would be graduating from school in the spring and despite her best efforts her mother would only force us to keep our love in secret for sure wouldn't grant permission. When Anthony approached me for the idea of Chicago and the money we could make together, all I could think about was Angelica. We would escape together, I could support her like my father had supported my mother all those years. We could start our life together and eventually I'd find a legitimate job and we could have kids together like we'd always spoke of. When I told her of my plans however, she didn't share the same vision. Angelica wanted to stay in Peoria and use her education to get a steady job and help her mother as she could while still being the one to see her sisters graduated and grown. She envisioned our life together there, me finding a job like maybe the one that killed her old man and her working until her sisters were grown and her mother could stop working and live with us until she died. She had so much more planned out and so many details she had never mentioned before. She even spoke of wanting wait for children until her sisters had grown and I was well off enough from working to support her and her mother so she could stop working and have children then. I won't lie, I remember getting very angry. I never screamed at Angelica or treated her badly but I also never argued with her, until then. That was the end of Angelica and I. The love we had kept secret for so long was dead. Her mother had won and looking back on it, perhaps it was for the best. I would never want to be some working stiff busting his back for pennies on the dollar to support a wife who didn't share my dreams and her mother who would be nothing more than a leech to feed on my failure. A constant reminder of why she had refused me of seeing her daughter all those years ago. Nah, not for me. I haven't always felt like that though. My new found carefree attitude and excitement over this new lifestyle and the money it would bring has given me the clarity I've lacked for so long. I hadn't as much as flirted with another girl since Angelica. Today, however, I'm a new man. I'm a new man who's ready to make his mark on this city and with this money I'm going to have dames lined up. When women see me they're going to be clamoring to spend the night with me. No more lovesick Tommy. No more dwelling on love lost, who needs love? I'm going to be a wealthy young man. The world is going to be at my finger tips and for the taking. Look out ladies, here comes Chicago's most eligible bachelor they'll say. I can't wait to get my hands on this money! That was the last thought I had time to reflect on as I turned a corner and was within feet of the warehouse. I had to collect myself, I can't walk in to a meeting with Tony drowning in thoughts like this. I'm here to collect my cash and show I've got what it takes to be somebody. I knocked on the door of the warehouse. "Yeah, who is it?" Bellowed a voice from inside. "Tommy, Tommy Angelo". I responded back through the steel doors. The latch boomed from the inside as the door slid open. "Hey, Tommy boy!" A voice rang from the heart of the warehouse. It was Tony, he was counting out money to a guy who must've dropped off some goods. As he finished his business he turned towards me beaming and made his way towards where I stood. "I've been waiting on you kid!" He spoke as he slapped his hand onto my back. "Yeah, sorry about that, been laying low." I responded back as quiet as I could. "Hey, the Don really appreciates the thing you did." He responded loudly. "Come, sit down back here with me and let's talk". He turned and led me back to a small room towards the left side of the warehouse. "Have a seat Tommy boy, you want a drink"? He said as he poured himself a drink. "Nah, I'm good. Never touch the stuff." It was true, despite my profession of riding trucks piled high with liquor barrels and the lifestyle I lived, I had never drank any more than stealing sips of wine during holiday events at my house as a kid. "Good boy, keep your nose clean". He said as he held the glass up and downed it's content. "Listen Tommy boy, you did real good. Real good." He spoke as he walked over to the chair across from me and took a seat. "That thing you took care of, it worked out well for everyone involved. Including the Don." I'm not sure if I held my excitement at hearing this or if my face gave way to a smile. "I've got your money but I hope this isn't going to be the only job you do for me kid." He spoke before lighting up a cigar from his breast pocket. "I know a lot of guys get dough like this, think they're set for life and blow it all before they can even figure out what life's all about, ya know what I'm saying?" I didn't, but I nodded in agreement. "See kid, in this business there's a lot of money to be made. Nothing is free of course and you have to learn to kick up to the guy's who make it possible for you to earn your cash." I continued to nod. "So what I'm saying is, enjoy this kind of cash in one lump sum kid. Don't blow it all and don't get too greedy. Money's the name of the game but until you're the head of a family it's part of someone else's game" I tried to process the information as quickly as possible. "So I'm in? I'm in the family?" I asked innocently. "What? No, I mean yeah, we're going to toss some work your way for the family but you're not there yet." He continued.."See, you're like an associate of sorts. I'm going to pass down some jobs for you and you'll do the work on my turf. By proxy you'll be doing work for the Don but as far as he's concerned you're one of my guy's, capische?" I hope I wasn't looking at him puzzled but I answered. "Yeah, I think I understand. The Don needs something done, you need something done I'm a soldier on the street doing the job. I make some money through whatever and kick it up to you and you to the Don? Right?" He pulled his cigar from his mouth and slapped me on the shoulder. "You got it Tommy boy! You work for me on the streets to keep both out pockets lined, the Don will provide the direction and the order and I'll ensure he gets his piece!" I was starting to wonder if he'd ever let go of my shoulder when he stood up to retrieve something from a chest in the corner. "So, me and Anthony need to limit our jobs to what you give us or is outside work ok? As long as everyone gets their cut?" Tony closed the door to the trunk and quickly turned around. "Yes and no Tommy boy. Yes, you can do your own hustle on the side. I ask you let me know and you cut me in so I can kick up to the Don. It's like paying uncle Sam, you don't shoot straight with what you're making and you suffer the consequences. As far as your friend Anthony goes, who you associate with is your own business until you're a blood oath part of the family. However, your friend Anthony has family that works with another outfit across town. I'm not in the business of employing family of our rivals. He wants to sell his stolen goods to me or rob one of their trucks and bring me the haul that's one thing BUT I won't consider him one of my guy's or put him on any jobs, capische?". My heart sank an little, Anthony and I had came to the city together to make a name for ourselves. He had already been giving me the silent treatment for being asked to do the hit at the hotel, now I'm not allowed to work with him? How, as an adult, do you tell your only friend that you can't do criminal activities together? The stranger thing is that I had to not only think about that phrase but that I knew he would get offended by such a thing. I nodded my head in agreement although in my mind I felt confused and a little perplexed by all of the rules, regulations and childish behavior that seemed to go along with this criminal business. My thoughts soon turned to mush however, as Tony stuck out his hand to reveal the contents he had removed from the trunk. It was a burlap sack he had kept behind his back as we spoke. to harp on the childish behavior further I was instantly reminded of being a boy and my father bringing home a cake from the bakery. Hiding it behind his back to build excitement and receive a reaction. This wasn't cake though and I couldn't help be a little giddy as I took the sack from his hand. I knew what this was. My heart was pounding and my body temperature rose. "Now, Tommy boy, you're not going to just go strolling down the street with a burlap sack full of dough. For one, you'll look like a hobo and I can't have someone perceived as a hobo working for me." He chuckled. "For two, there's guys out there who are like you, like your little friend Anthony who will leave you laying in an alley and that cash the Don sent down will be in some punks hands and by assumption be put in another Don's hand and we don't want that, capische? Last, but not least. The police are cracking down on guys like us. You're young, Italian and carrying a sack of money. You'll be framed for murders you didn't even commit before you're even booked into a holding cell." He spoke as he sat down in his chair. "I've arranged for some of your new friends to walk you home. Make sure you get to your place with the cash, you aren't going to be able to walk around with this much dough in your pockets. After that you and your new friends are going to get to work. They're going to teach you the ropes and what it is we do." I nodded in understanding though curious of who I was being told would be my new friends. "These guys are my eyes and ears on the streets. They're my foot soldiers, much like I'm offering you Tommy boy. They're working their way up to become a guy like me just like I hope you want to do kid. I know your old man would be proud Tommy boy. Following in his footsteps and all. I think about your father all the time, kid. He did for me what I'm doing for you today. Took me in, gave me a purpose. I was robbing guys in alleyways at knife point and sleeping in the park." He stood up to pour another drink. "Then one afternoon, I was hungry. Didn't have a penny to my name so I walked the streets looking for someone to make a quick buck off of and I spotted your father. He was much younger back then, so was I. You weren't even thought of yet. Your old man was a big Earner back then, he made the family a lot of cash and by result he had a lot of cash. I don't know if you remember this about your old man Tommy boy but your father was never shy about showing he had money. For a guy like me at the time, meant he was an easy mark." He sat sipped on his drink and made his way back to the chair in front of me. "Here was this young guy walking around the street market in a suit handing out cash to street vendors and talking to them. What I didn't know back then was he protected that neighborhood, they paid him for his services and every now and then he liked to return the favor. He told me many years later that even though we work in an business of muscle and intimidation that sometimes giving to those we take from builds loyalty more so than holding a gun to their head. Anyways, I was watching your father flaunt his dough all over the place. People were giving him bread and fruit and kissing his hand. It really pissed me off seeing a guy my age walking around like that. So I followed him, not close but enough to keep up and waited for him to stray from the crowded streets. He cut down an alley and stopped to light up a smoke and that's when I made my move." He chuckled slightly and downed the rest of his drink. "Your old man turned around at my beckoning and I demanded he give me all his money. I'll never forget what he said Tommy boy, still I can hear it until this day. He told me I had a choice. I could continue down the path I was on and take his money, I might even be allowed to live afterwards. Or, he would give me some cash and offer me work. "You don't want to live like this forever do you?" He asked me. I was blown away. Who was this guy? What could he do for me and why did I have the urge to listen to anything he had to say? I took the money that day and well, it's obvious which way I took it by our conversation today." He stood once more and poured himself another drink before continuing. "If it hadn't been for your father, there's no telling where I'd be or if I would even still be. He was a great man Tommy boy, he gave a guy like me a chance and now I'm going to return the favor. That's enough of old sob stories." He spoke and wiped his eyes as if to erase tears I hadn't seen build up. "Let me take you to go meet the fellas, get you home so you can start earning for the family and learn the ropes." Tony led me back into the warehouse and to a table where three young guys much like myself were sitting and playing cards. "Tommy, meet the guy's. They're the best and brightest, or at least that's what I tell them." Tony chuckled as the group mumbled obscenities and cracked smiles. "In all seriousness, these are my guys. They take care of business on the streets and are good at what they do. Fellas, this is Tommy, the one I've been telling you about." The collective "Hey, how ya doin" came out amongst them. "This guy here". He pointed to the one in front of me. "This guy is Frankie. He's quiet and not afraid to throw his fists. I wouldn't recommend letting him talk you in to a boxing match, he could have been professional, I swear to God." Frankie looked up and half smiled as he drew and card from the deck. "That guy over there." He pointed to my left. "That guy is Vinny C. We call him Vinny C because he has a last name even he can't pronounce. "The collective chuckle went out from even myself. In all seriousness, Vinny is a good kid. He's a fast talker and good with a gun when you're in a pinch. He's made a name for himself with the work he's done." Vinny looked up and nodded in my direction. "Last but not least, this unfortunate looking mug right here is Paulie." Paulie stood up and took a bow before returning to his seat. "Paulie's a real character but there's no better wheel man or safecracker than him. If you can get past the fact he never takes anything seriois, he's a guy to have around when things get serious." The guys all mumbled obscenities and threw some of their poker chips at Paulie. They were a rough and tumble looking crew but in a business like this it was exactly what you needed. The only thing I could think of is how would I fit into this group? What could I bring to the table? I've been put in one serious situation and if it hadn't been for pure luck I'd had been killed. Maybe that would be my role, the idiot who was willing to put his life on the line out of lack of well thought planning. My thought process was interrupted by Tony yet again. "Fellas, Tommy boy has a lot to learn. He's proven he has the balls to be in this business and he's accustomed to making chump change. Get him involved in the rackets and show him the ropes. Once he gets his feet wet, Vinny, I want you to take Tommy around and get him on your schedule. When we expand the territory soon you're going to take the new neighborhood and Tommy's going to take yours. If of course, you knuckleheads can teach him the way I taught ya's." A collective few chuckles and "yeah, yeah's" went up before Tony pulled me to the side. "This is your chance to earn respect Tommy boy. You're going to get your nose wet and a chance to show you belong in this family just like these guys do every day. Don't let me down and don't show them weakness. I know you've got it in you kid, now it's time you show everyone else." He patted me on the back as we turned back towards the guys. "Alright, you guys know what to do. Get Tommy boy back to his place safe with the cash and start doing what you do best. Oh, and take it easy on the kid, his father was a personal friend of mine. I expect he isn't found somewhere with his throat slit." Tony patted me on the back once more. "Alright kid, now you learn this thing of ours." And with that my new "friends" stood up from the table. I wasn't sure what to expect. After the last thing Tony said to them, what was I getting myself into? Why would he have to go out of his way to ask them not to slit my throat?
