Sorrority walks into the streets with a topic that she has always wondered about. To her knowledge the topic that she will speak about is something that has not been tackled yet. Sorrority stands on top of a soap box with her bull horn and says

Hello everyone, I am new here, My name is Sorrority. First let me pay respect to my Godfather Premier and Don Gaius. I have come here today to ask a question, and see what everyone thinks about it. In this world of ours do you have to "Give Respect" to "Earn Respect" or "Earn Respect" before you "Give Respect". I know thats alot in one sentence so I am going to step back let you guys get your thoughts together and tell me what you think.

Sorrority steps off of the soap box and waits to hear what people have to say.

This is a question that has come up before, but it's certainly an important one- thank you for raising it. I consider it a 50/50 proposition. I tend to show a measure of respect to everyone, regardless of who they are, unless they've wronged me or my ideals in some way. So in that way, I suppose it is given easily. You pretty much need to be a rampant cock for me to act disrespectfully to you, since I extend the courtesy of respect to almost everyone as long as they do the same.

TRUE respect, though... the kind that lies within a person's heart... that must be earned. A man who gives out his respect to everyone is a worthless judge of character, and does no service to his true friends. But the person who selectively gives their respect to the people they truly know and admire... these people do a service to everyone.

The_Messiah stood watching for awhile at the corner of the street, smoking a large cigar. When he heard this he threw the near-finished cigar on the floor and leant thoughtfully against a wall. After a while he turned to Sorrority.

"To me, respect isn't something that you have at your discretion. Instead it's something that is used as a manner towards someone else. When someone says, "have some respect!" it tends to mean something more like, "Use a manner of respect to that person!" So to me, it doesn't matter who you are, who you are speaking to, or what you do- Anyone can and should use respect, and they will likely have it used back to them, if someone doesn't use respect then they are not useing something that is free to give and free to recieve and it says something about themselves moreso than the other person. As for your question, I think if you give respect... then you've already earnt it and if you've earnt it, then you have probably given it and not even realised. This is my view... so thanks for listening so respectfully."

With that The_Messiah backed away and leant against the wall again. He reached into his coat and produced another cigar which he lighted, and he gazed up thoughtfully.

Thanks Kates and Messiah for that. I agree. Thanks for listening and putting in your words of wisdom.

Sorrority then stands to wait what others have to say.

Rourke stepped down from his lofty throne on the roof of The Riot! HQ and noticed a tiny gathering below. People seemed to be discussing some sort of issue on the streets. Rourke noticed Kates and her ample bosoms carefully listening and responding to the topic at hand. Rourke leaned in closely and caught part of the end of her speech:

"TRUE respect, though... the kind that lies within a person's heart... that must be earned."

Rourke immediately knew that respect was something that should be accessible to all parts of the population. His feeble mind slowly began to work and within a few hours, a novel idea was formed. Rourke purchased a vacant lot on the end of the streets and began to construct a small building. As Rourke had detailed multiple times both in the headquarters and in his numerous amounts of street conversations, he was a master carpenter and could quickly make light work of heavy construction tasks. Within ten minutes, Rourke built a fancy new shop at the corner of Main and Third. He lit the sign up on top:

THE RESPECT STORE

Rourke hung a sign in the window:

Get your respect here! Rourke will respect you for a nominal fee! Contact him for rates today!

Rourke hurried back to the street discussion, shoved his way in, and prepared to give his two cents:

Ladies and gentlemen, I believe that respect might be earned or given, but it can DEFINITELY be bought! Come down to THE RESPECT STORE today to purchase respect for a low low fee! Contact me for rates!

Rourke flicked a nickel to SorroritySister.

Keep the change, kid. You'll need it out here.

Ciaran listens intently, once the crowd goes silent he gives his opinion

I believe it can be down to the individual and their distinct personality. There are people who are ignorant and rude and disrepect people all day long but do you see their name at the top of your family? We have had a few who have rose to become leaders that you think to yourself "How the fudge did they get there??". So i suppose for some its "respect for the elders but anything goes for the chumps at the same level". I myself am very courteous towards anyone as long as they are the same back. To have respect for someone, the person does need to earn it, no matter who it is i will only respect those deserving of respect. And again the criteria for that is decided on an individual bases

I agree. Sorrority catches the nickel Oh wow! A nickel! My life aspiration had been fulfilled! She says dramatically & then laughs. Sorrority then waits to hear what everyone else has to say.
