Stepping back into his apartment after meeting with Iris, Dick pulled a Baggie out of his pocket. She handed it too Dick as a gift before giving him a slight stroke and a tickle below the shaft, of his neck as a good bye gesture. She was always kind to Dick and Dick was always kind to her. She's a good friend that Iris is, she pleases Dick every visit. Putting a smile on his face after every wonderful contact, and hand to hand gestures. She has wonderful hand skills, every time they shake hands you know she's sincere. First let's start off with getting your mind out of the gutter people.
Ok now we have that cleared let's move on. Sitting limp in his chair...... Ok fine this just isn't going to work, the giggles is interrupting my ability to be a good narrative.
Richard holding the bag in his hand and sitting in his comfy chair, flipped on his lamp the see what it contained. As it opened he noticed she had slipped him a bag of schrooms.
"Ah Iris you know me too well!"
Richard walks to the fridge to grab a beer to wash them down. Crunching on a about an ounce and swallowing, Rich laid back staring at the ceiling in his chair. Suddenly he had a sick feeling in his stomach, he wanted to vomit but in an instant he started to chuckle. For absolutely no reason at all Rich just couldn't hold it back, he dropped his head toward his lap and clinched his belly as an effort not to have his insides burst through his gut from his sudden eruption of laughter.
He continues to do this for about 30 minutes until something from his peripheral vision shot across the carpet. The laughter stopped and curiosity set it. Was it a mouse? No it looked more like a rabbit he thought to himself. So he dropped to his knees to crawl to the corner in which this bunny scampered, when the carpet began to melt around him. Heart racing with panic setting in Rich had to save himself from drowning in the colors of his carpet. Clawing, scratching and attempting to grab whatever he could he begun sinking quicker. As the colors surrounded him, he took one last swipe at the radio Power cord when suddenly disappearing into darkness.
As he opened his eyes, he was in a new world, a world where he had a young daughter, a wife, and a Lincoln aviator sitting under his garage. What is this futuristic world he is living in?
He stepped outside to get a view of the people around. It was odd, kids these days seem to dress like a lady at the local speakeasy trying to find some action for the night, adults seem to be too busy on what look to be bill folds but they call them tablets.
As he stepped back into his apartment he saw a what he called a monitor sitting at his desk where his radio normally stands. As he sits down at this odd device he see's what seems to be a profile on his own life. Even had some of his most used quotes amongst his friends.
"What the fuck is going on here?"
In the left corner of this odd television monitor, a envelope sat there blinking. Interested Dick clicked the icon.
"Message from Johnny boy," it read.
Who is Johnny boy he thought. As he read it he had an eerie feeling. You see, Dick had some business last week that a friend of his didn't so much agree with. He explained the decision had to be made, he explained more then he needed to explain being the Right hand of a crime family but he explained regardless. The man who didn't agree ended up throwing himself from an apartment complex in Brooklyn. Why the eerie feeling you may ask? As he read the message it became clear.
"You are my friend, a friend that I consider friendly, a friend that knows where you live and what you do. Why would you do this too me? Why would your loyalties to your family be more important to our friendship? It's been years! Ok this is it, I will never talk to you again Dick. Actually you know what? I'm going to bring myself back and I will shoot you down the very first chance I get. I will threaten every aspect in which you grasp onto as a means to survive or exist within this world. Never talk to me again. Years gone down the drain. Fuck you and with a lmfao in your face."
"Johnny is tommy? How can this be true? What world is this?" Dick yells out loud. When suddenly his wife walks into the room.
"Jim why were you up all damn night again staring at that screen? You have a family here, and this is what's important to you. Come here baby give me a hug."
As his wife, this stranger approaches him and leans down to give Dick a hug he closes his eyes and then reopens to be staring back at his ceiling. Sitting up quickly he rubs his carpet and looks at his radio sitting in the corner.
"I'm home!!!" Dick yelled with excitement.
The following day, Dick goes to the streets to share his powerful evening which he described vividly to everyone. He has to have questions answered which seemed to bother him, as unrealistic as it may have been he was curious as to what the thoughts of others may be.
"So I have shared my wild trip and I come to everyone for their own opinion because it's something that's been nagging me. Whether the ghost of tommy comes to me one night and shares these displeasures or not, do you feel that some of us within this other world have a hard time differentiating friend loyalties over family loyalty. I know how I handle it, but in the case of ghosts why is it you feel they have a hard time understanding the difference between loyalty to the code and loyalty as good friends? Better yet, does the afterlife have a hard time moving on from this world? Does it really do any justice to haunt those for a choice that had to be made? Why do you feel it's hard to keep the two worlds separate so those who parish can go peacefully into the light?"
"Whatever your answers may be, I suggest to never eat the mushrooms Iris grow."

Dub had a tremendous headache...
"Tell you what, Tricky Dick, your... hallucinations, are tearing me up and I didn't even experience it." Dub was rubbing his temples to try and relieve his pain. He, then, started rubbing his face to try and regain his thinking process from the invaders of 'ShroomLand. "I believe it's probably just split right down the middle. However, I do think that, if these people could be considered friends, they should be okay with your decisions and understand it's something you had to do. Until that is the case, they aren't friends. Merely acquaintances... When someone can put your loyalty to a family ahead of your loyalty to them personally, that's a friend." "I have a lot of friends who I met in LA back when I was there; after our fall, we all split. Some went to New York, some went to Las Vegas, some went to Chicago. But push comes to shove, I know that none of them would ever put me into a situation where I'd be forced to choose between my responsibilities/loyalty to my family or my loyalty to them... And I appreciate that." Dub took off his golfer cap and patted it on his leg to clean it off just a bit.
"As far as Ghosts go, they often spit bad views on the living to their family members. Their sense of betrayal haunts their family members for ages... Some people, however, can accept something no matter what happens to them, and can immediately move on from it ONLY if it's a decision made by a friend. It varies from person to person. Some people are laid to rest, some stay restless." Dub puts the cap back on and looks at Dick "No matter what, though. I know what I'd do. Judging from your story there, I think I know what you'd do/did. And I think you're doing the right thing." |

"Thank you for your input as it is always highly respected coming someone who is willing to put in the time to do so." Dick pulls out a rolled smoke from his shirt pocket. "I must agree with all points and I'm grateful for your example that is personally directed toward events within you past or present. Cheers my friend, or should I even say that? Seems like past friends haunt me as of late. I can't even get a good nights rest." |

Word of Dick's Sticky Trip reached Sereno. He couldn't fully comprehend what the man had experienced, as he himself had only dabbled in liquor. His business practices meant he was moving stuff much more potent, and he assumed much more trippy, yet he didn't get high on his own supply. It was all business. As Sereno walked out into the common streets, he saw the man himself, -R-ichard-W-ad. Sereno figured he was doing the same thing, meeting contacts and sources and conversing with acquaintances. Sereno also noticed another familiar face in DublinerFM. The two had crossed paths on a few occasions, and he enjoyed the mans input in the discussions they had been in to date. The story still had Sereno's attention and as he approached he overheard the two speaking. Standing at the side till they finished, Sereno decided to approach and join the conversation. Noticing a smoke in Dick's hand, it triggered Sereno to remove his own packet and begin to light one himself. He enjoyed a tobacco stick nearly as much as talking business. "Trippy, Dick, just trippy. I'd like to know more about your out of body experience. Did you return with a sense of knowing something, like others have spoken about?" The Lucky Strikes cigarette was finally lit. A quick puff was taken, then just as Richard Wad was about to answer Sereno interrupted. "What I... Sorry, Dick." Sereno waited for approval to continue then did so. "What I wanted to say on this topic of ghosts though was that it's rarely our fault, the ones living that is, for the deceased to haunt us. I mean sure we may do some things. Who in our community is really going to the place in the clouds, right? But what keeps them attached and haunting us, and I remember reading about this, is their own desires and unresolved issues. If they were to simply forgive and release their burdens then they would be able to move on and not be so stuck to situations, people and even places." "They would be free to maybe even re-incarnate and have a fulfilling life. But the sad thing is, they are attached to something that happened in their past life and this doesn't just have them haunting others, but really, it has them haunting themselves." Sereno stopped, looked at the men before him with a surprised look on his face, then looked at his cigarette with even more of a puzzled look. He seemed to be shocked by what he was saying, and figured the cigarette had something to do with it. He didn't usually speak about the spiritual side of life, and even though he'd read a book here and there he rarely, if ever, engaged in the topic. Sereno cautiously took another puff then looked at the others, waiting for someone else to continue the conversation. |
