Right or wrong, whining or otherwise - I'd much rather listen to conversations like this then the stupid stories that litter 90% of the street corners.

War always provides the best conversations because the situation is entirely unique, so not sure why anyone would tell people to stop complaining and get over it.

I'd tell those people to move on if they aren't interested, morons.

Kevin, he did mass mail all of the upper structure of New York and his entire district more than once. He only stopped once he realized that nobody was coming to help. I'm not sure what you're talking about. If the message never reached you it's quite clear why.

Sammy, I don't expect your views to be any different than what they are. You stood by as your last city head was killed as well and that should have sent up red flags to Voodoo.

Memento_Mori, I apologize. I'll stay out of the streets while my name is dragged through the mud. Defending myself is silly. I'm not known to come out and bitch after situations like this but I can't just sit around while lies are spread. I held my tongue until John said Voodoo wrongfully blamed Eredin and that he deserved to lose loyalty because he never talked to anyone. Both of those points are false in the case that I've been arguing. I still don't know what he did to lose Eredin's loyalty. Perhaps I never will.

There are people who will fight and those who will stand down to save what they have. My bloodline is never given that opportunity by the attackers because there is no doubt to them which side of that fence I'm on. I'm done trying to push my own values on you here though so if when choosing between life and loyalty your decision is life and you can live with that, good for you. If I'm the bad guy here. So be it.

Indeed, I was equally as unsettled by the similarities to the situation with Cersei.

Truth is, you can't just 'have' control over a city and expect them to come running when you're in trouble. You need to develop relationships, form bonds and trust. If a person thought that already existed, any future plans for the city, ambition or progression would have been shared.

I'm not justifying the plans Voodoo had, however as a crew leader trying to build a bond with his city head, a sudden call to war because of an attack spurned by plans thought best kept from said crew leader, doesn't exactly instil trust or the desire to follow blindly into war.

I've found a leader now that I've been looking for over the course of months to commit to, that commits equally to me. With the right engagement, I'd follow that person off a cliff.

Ironically, Voodoo may blame his oversight when judging me, but if it was another Philadelphia situation I was trying to avoid, I should blame my own.

Correct it never reached me, but considering I was one of the more active members of NY and I'm pretty well known for forming my own opinions on a subject regardless of the popular choice... maybe I'd have been worth contacting. During war time you should strain every sinew and call in every favour possible, you reach out to people you probably wouldn't normally just in case there is some form of help you can get.

We can sit here and debate who didn't come to the aid of Voodoo if you like, but when said person fails to try anything else after falling at the first hurdle then what exactly are you expecting to happen? Miracles? Divine intervention?

We all have our own minds and opinions and if you're willing to probe, a few are more than willing to share.

This may get me in trouble with the powers that be, but if Voodoo had to come me that fateful night and asked for my help I would probably be 6 feet under the ground right now. Not because he didn't do anything wrong, but because he was my city head... but his persistant poor communication with anyone that wasnt inside his inner circle ultimately lead to his downfall... almost alone.

Sereno was at the fringes of the conversation. So much back and fourth chatter, yet for the most part it was civil and informative. Those involved and those in the know had come out to discuss the happenings of what transpired and lead to the downfall of one of the pillars of the community.

After a period of listening, mental note taking and piecing it all together, Antonio felt the need to confirm some details. So much was being said about the reason to the downfall, yet it was all coming from the same side of the fence. It seemed a little fluffed. Mr Abbracciavento loosened his tie before speaking.

"So just to clarify things here. The late Voodoo, rest his soul, spoke in confidence to his second in charge. His underboss. The man entrusted to have his back no matter what. Through thick, thin and come what may. Then, this information was relayed to another which sent the wheels in motion?"

"I'm hearing that he should never have spoken openly to someone he was suppose to be speaking frank with. If you can't vent your frustrations with your underboss, and sometimes these frustrations may simply be frustrations, then who can you vent to? And if this then lead to his downfall, if this is what I'm understanding, then I think the biggest fault made here was having the wrong people around him."

"No matter what was spoken, whether it was about dropping an atom bomb on the nation, some things are suppose to remain between people. You employ people to remind you not to be so frank, or to pull your head in when needed. To advise you about your business affairs and to be a readily available ear. Trust here, is the reason it seems this man got done in the end and overvaluing the relationships he had."

"You have to give it to those involved though. They played the right cards. They made the right moves to ensure they have come out on top. This is the life we live. From what I have understood, self-preservation is the name of the game in this case, along with broken lines of communication and frail loyalty."

"I know this wont sit too well with the many voices here saying it was a lack of communication that lead to Voodoo's downfall, or that he said what he did. Yet, you have to admit, if as the leader of a city you cant rely on your underboss in this thing of ours, then who can you truly rely on?"

While it's nice to think that you have someone to vent to Sereno or that you should be able to vent to said certain people, it doesn't always work like that.

Inexplicable fuckery is certainly an element of our world, and some monumentally stupid decisions of the recent past quickly spring to mind as I say that, but usually a Don and Underboss should so well entwined that these sort of things are avoidable. The relationship should be strong enough that sharing information to a third party is never even considered.

And, ProfessorChaos, SammyGato stood by on the orders of his dashingly handsome then district head during the Cersei situation. To be honest, I found his commitment to me and my district to be exemplary and if Voodoo didn't, perhaps then he needs to consider his own role in that rather than waving his red flags around.

Credits, that was a  profound statement.  However, the pendulum swings both ways. The clock ticks.

Henri shakes his head sadly at the discussion, wondering if most people around these shores were taking drugs on the sly. They babbled incessantly about "betrayal" and "loyalty", but Henri was rather convinced that the dictionaries they learned these values from were written by delusional madmen. The concept of districts seemed to float over most heads' and that was something he couldn't quite wrap his head around.

Each district is an entity to itself, Henri knew - capable of making its own decisions and living with the results of them. Though yes, the districts of each city were part of a bigger whole, Henri couldn't fathom where people felt justified calling folks like Eredin or John "rogue" and "disloyal". From his perspective, it was their fucking job to extend the lives of not only themselves, but their organizations. The structural diversity around the cities right now was one that Henri hoped would cement itself into stability before too long. It wouldn't be too long before some of the cities would see a Godfather, and that was something Henri banked on. He very much looked forward to a day, soon, where multiple Godfather's could sit and convene.

Henri had woken up to a couple mails regarding his thoughts on the situation, which concerned him. What the fuck was being dripped into the water supply to allow folks to read his mind? It's a good thing he was nothing if not loyal and honest, or he'd be a little more concerned. Maybe he'd start wearing a tinfoil hat to protect himself. Smirking at the thought, Henri decides to clarify with words as to allow an actual debate. Making his way to the corner where the conversation was happening, he takes a long sip of his coffee before clarifying.

"Right, I suppose it's only the proper thing to express my thoughts in words. How the few of you who contacted me could read my mind is beyond my comprehension capability right now, but that's not the point. While Eredin may have come from the same district as Voodoo, I still feel as if Eredin made the right call."

"Knowing that Voodoo was biding his time, waiting until it was the opportune moment to strike at his allies here in Chicago, Eredin made a judgement call. He chose to preserve the life of himself and his crew, to preserve business. Perhaps Eredin didn't want to get into a skirmish that maybe he felt would've been detrimental to New York's overall health - both physically, and fiscally."

"Perhaps Eredin himself felt betrayed by Voodoo? We do not know the inner workings of other cities, and to pretend to would be asinine. From what I've gathered, clearly the other districts in New York were not content with what Voodoo had been providing in the way of "role model/leadership" traits."

"Sure, they were loyal. Sure, they were grateful for the position that they may not have seen without Voodoo, but how far does that go? Being blindly loyal and sticking by someones side when you feel as if the road they're on is chaotic and doomed for bloodshed is quite frankly suicidal and idiotic."

"Yes, I do think you should be loyal to those who brought you to the spot you're at, but I also think that people are forgetting loyalty is NOT a one sided coin. The people who you feel loyal to now... If they stopped giving you reasons to be loyal to them, stopped giving you reasons to trust them, and stopped the communication level with them that you're used to...It would raise some serious concerns, for me anyway. There's room for a judgement call here, in my opinion."

"It's been stated before and I'll say it again just to hopefully imprint it on some impressionable brains - bloodshed is bad for business. Duplicity knows it, Eredin knows it, and so should every sensible businessman on these shores with a Button."

"And there you have it, my thoughts put into words. Now if you all could please stop reading my mind it would be most appreciated. I don't much care for the idea of wearing a tin foil hat around. And I'm also checking out of this conversation, as I didn't intend on being part of it to begin with."
