For the new blood Started by: KevinOwens on Sep 22, '15 17:57

Hi there fresh face!

Welcome to our world. I'm KevinOwens, the resident Don of South Philly.

I'm here to give you just a lil' tidbit of advice now that you've decided to enter this life of crime. We're sticklers for detail here some of us, some of our bloodlines have been around this world for too long and are very stubborn in their ways... refusing to be changed by the modern world. I'm not trying to point the finger at anyone else here (although I'm sure they all have their flaws), I'm talking about myself and my stubbornness with regards to mobsters making an effort.

You see, since becoming the leader of The New Nexus (crowd goes wild, random cheers in the background from RondaRousey and SamTh3JeremyBeadle... yeah we're popular!) I've been set the task of building my family and South Philly into the strongest we can possibly be. To do that I must recruit fresh mobsters. I NEED new blood, this family and by proxy, this district cannot function without it.

However, young man or lady. You are not the only one that is 'fresh off the boat', you are not the only person around here with potential. Please bear in this mind during your daily activities.

Why am I out here babbling about this?

Well, during my recruitment process I usually mention (as stated in my tag also) that we do not take in people who 'half ass' it. But the amount of young guns upon receiving a mail from me have used one of the following replies (or something very similar to them) to get back to me with is ridiculous...

"yer"

"yer but im low on cash can i borrow some?"

"sure"

"I'd like that"

"ok"

"oh ok then"

Now, given that I ALWAYS mention that although I'm looking to recruit, I do not want people who half ass it. Is this the type of reply you really should be coming up with?

There are plenty of other families you can join who may not be as stringent or nit-picky, if any of the above replies are something you would come up with, please throw my mail in the trash can and forget I exist.

Have a nice day.

"This is a point well made. If you can't think of a reply that is more than one word, or one syllable, than you don't really deserve to be in a grown or growing crew. If you can't put time and thought and effort into one simple reply, then the crew leader shouldn't have to put their time and effort into you. The questions that a recruiter asks are meant to spark a conversation. If you are approached by a leader that took time out of their day to say "Hey there, how are you today? Are you doing alright so far?" or any other question of that nature, think out your reply before speaking. Make sure it's worth the leader's time. Show how excited you are that they approached you in the first place!"

Jack Sparrow is sitting on the wall drinking his rum, when he notices a big fella coming to the streets carrying a belt around his shoulder. Jack jumps down from the wall and walks over and stands in the crowd listening to Kevin Owens speak. After he finished Jack Sparrow finished the rest of his rum before placing the bottle down and clearing his throat.

"I understand what your saying about wanting the best but doesn't everyone want the best? Can you not give these new blood a chance train them up ? Everyone has to start somewhere I have read journals of my bloodline and the first time they came fresh off the boat if they weren't giving a chance and trained I might not have been here right now. Am sure most of the new blood you try and recruit these day will be new bloodline as alot of the older bloodlines will be in a family at this moment."

Jack Sparrow takes a step back and opens his new bottle of rum.

I have given new mobsters chances JackSparrow, there are some in my family right now. Those mobsters had the common sense and courtesy to actually listen to what I was saying instead of skimming over it.

When someone shows some promise, like taking the time to listen to what I said properly and reply accordingly then they will get all the help they need and more. Myself and my family will happily walk them through every single day for the rest of their or our lives if that's what they need or want.

When someone shows ignorance and a lack of manners from the offset, I'm not interested.
