Henri was planning to go on a date, which was something he hadn't allowed himself to do in quite some time. Most of the women he'd ever gotten "involved" with were not quite...mentally equipped enough to handle the kind of work he was involved with. Deciding that he would like to make a nice impression, he makes plans to go get some flowers. Henri took one last look in the mirror before heading out. The walk down the hall to the elevator was mostly uneventful. The ride in the elevator itself was a little more interesting... He witnessed some young no-name Goomba reaching into the pockets of the elevator operator, but Henri merely suppressed a grin and said nothing. He knew for a fact Gregg made enough money anyway, seeing as his father owned the hotel that Henri was currently staying at. With a pleasant ding, the elevator creaked to a halt as Gregg reached forward to open the doors. Gesturing to the young man who had just pilfered Gregg's pockets to exit first, Henri smiled slightly. After letting the man get a few steps ahead of him, Henri cracked his knuckles and picked up the pace of his casual stroll to one of a much faster caliber. He was now only inches behind the young man, who was completely oblivious to his surroundings. Just as the gentleman was about to reach for the door to exit onto the Street, Henri stepped in front of him to hold the door. "Please, allow me to get that for you." Henri said in a polite voice, smiling. The young man raised an eyebrow curiously, but did not reply verbally. As the Goomba stepped through the doorway, Henri very carefully and very skillfully reached into his pockets, unnoticed. Letting the door shut, Henri counted his haul. $5,000 that he hadn't expected to run into... He could have a nice night at the casino with that, but he decided against it. Knowing that Gregg didn't make this much money, Henri walked back to the elevator where Gregg was still milling about. Gregg wasn't paying much attention, seemingly entirely too preoccupied trying to snatch a fly out of the air with his hands. Henri sighed internally. Gregg would NEVER make it in the life Henri was accustomed to, but perhaps he could still serve a useful purpose. Henri coughed slightly, hoping to get Gregg's attention. Somehow, it wasn't heard. Coughing again - loudly, Gregg snaps his attention to Henri. With a befuddled look upon his face, Gregg timidly spoke. "Didn't you just leave, sir?" Henri smirked reaching into his pocket for the money. Gregg flinched slightly, which amused Henri. Slowly removing his hand from his pocket Henri raises his hands into the air in a gesture of innocence. "Jumpy much, fella? No worries... I'm not here to hurt you. If I were, you would have never seen it coming." Henri stated, calmly. He wasn't threatening, or boasting - he was speaking with such a confidence that he knew Gregg had no doubt as to his statements validity. Slowly extending his hand out with a wad of cash in it, Henri nodded, indicating for Gregg to take it. Unsure of himself, Gregg reached out with a shaky hand. Nodding in reassurance, Henri hands off the cash. "Remember the other fellow who was in the elevator on the way down? Some of this cash belonged to you originally, he saw fit to relieve you of it. You seem like a decent enough guy, therefore I saw fit to relieve him of his cash. And now I'm returning your money with some extra... All I have is one simple request. Keep an ear out around here for me. If you think anything sounds suspicious or beneficial...pass it along to me, understood?" Gregg stood there for a moment, his jaw wide open. Regaining his composure Gregg nodded furiously, stuffing the cash into his front pocket. Wise decision Henri thought, it was much harder to have your money stolen when it resided in the front pocket(s). Henri extended his hand to shake Gregg's and turned around swiftly, finally heading for the Business District. Henri walked calmly out of the building, glad that he'd made a new... friend. You never knew when ears like that would come in handy. Deciding the day was entirely too nice to take a cab, Henri takes his time strolling down to the Business District. Perusing the business fronts, he gets a little upset. It didn't seem like many of the owners were around much. With a slight sigh, he turns around and heads back towards the hotel. His date would have to wait until a night he could arrange an actual reservation at one of the restaurants around - he didn't want to sit there and make idle chat without the promise of a delectable dinner following. Walking back into the hotel, Henri grins and laughs tremendously - the moment Gregg spotted him, the elevator attendant snapped to attention. Chuckling under his breath and wiping a tear of laughter away from his eye, he nods in Gregg's direction before taking the stairs back up to where he was staying. |
