Cockles and muscles, Alive, Alive Oh Started by: Tom_Shelby on Sep 28, '15 03:08

The day was a pissy wet one and when Tom pulled into the docks he noticed no one was working. This kind of thing pissed Tom off and he was already planning to dock some pays. No doubt big Bill, called work off due to the weather. He was a dumb fuck who unloaded trucks but he was big so the other workers did as he said.

As Tom went to open the door to the main shed a tune came from inside.

"In Dublin's fair city,

Where the girls are so pretty,

I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone,

As she wheeled her barrow,

Through streets broad and narrow,

Crying "Cockles and muscles, alive alive oh,''

Tom rested his head on the door and listened to the tune spill out to the yard. Tom wanted to cry as the voice was beautiful. It reminded him of grace.

As Tom opened the door everyone turned and faced him, wide eyed and jaws dropped. So this is where the workers were. A pretty young blonde stood on a half sanded skiff and looked down at him. She continued to sing.

"Alive, Alive oh,

Alive, Alive oh,

Crying, ''Cockles and muscles Alive, Alive oh'',

She was a fishmonger,

But sure 'twas no wonder,

For so were her father and mother before,

And they wheeled their barrows,

Through streets broad and narrow,

Crying "Cockles and muscles alive, alive oh",

She died of a fever,

And no one could save her,

And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone,

But her ghost wheels her barrow,

Through streets broad and narrow,

Crying, ''Cockles and muscles, Alive, Alive oh"

The women curtsied and a loud mixture of clapping a whistling erupted in the bar. A few workers scurried off before Tom yelled but Tom only smiled.

"Go home lads. Day off courtesy of Mr Shelby" Tom shouted, the smile not slipping.

As the workers exited the building smiling and joyful Tom approached the pretty blonde in the red and black dress. She smiled nervously and looked down as Tom rested a hand on her red cheeks.

"That was..." Tom tripped on his words.

"Beautiful. Only once have I heard a voice like that''

The girl only smiled but did so perfectly.

"Thank you Mr Shelby"

She had a Dublin accent and knew Toms name. This left Tom slightly confused but right now he didn't care.

"And what might your name be miss?''

"Shelly O'Neil"

Report Post Tip
Wiggle has no idea who Shelly is, however he has heard this song before. As a matter of fact this song this sheilly lady sings is rather famous. So basically everything but maybe five lines of Toms story is actually his own. Sadly Wiggle believes this is all starting to get a little crazy in the streets. Originality has been flushed away by all folklore that has been spoken as of late.

"I guess the world has changed since my grandfather once walked these paved sidewalks. Just going to have to adjust I suppose."

Tom looked at Wigglebutt with full acceptance for what he had to say. In fact Tom had never seen those good old days so this is all Tom knew.

''Mr Wigglebutt. You been a man of the streets you must understand every story starts somewhere. And if you took the time to read the other post you would know full well who Shelly is. Now that is a slit shame there was an immersion break but now back into it''
