Catching her drift, Nixe began to direct the two of them towards the door, holding it open for his companion as the two prepared to face the guttural Chicago wind. "Pizza, you say?" The male recounted, already thinking of the various spots he knew. There were quite a few jaunty shops along the streets, just full of sweet smells and delicious food. The only shop he knew who was owned by an official, Shadowy Slices, had burned down, according to his former sponsor Henri. And he probably wouldn't be a good guide if he took a girl to a trip by the ashes.
"There's plenty of Pizzarias lining these streets, I would be more than happy to treat you to one." He replied, flashing M a grin. "In fact, I think there's a small one the next street over." |

"Oh, there's really no need," M said sincerely, although touched by his offer. "It's already enough that you agreed to show me around, I think lunch should be on me." She told the young man, as she tossed her hair over her shoulder and put on her coat. She took a few steps in silence, looking around and trying to take a mental picture of the quaint city. It was unlike any city she'd visited before, and couldn't wait to see more. She turned to the brunette beside her and asked, "So, why Chicago? I mean, I know you said you were raised here, but... ever thought of leaving?" The pale girl asked with a small smile as they turned the corner. |

"Hm, but I insist," Nixe trudged on, beaming at M. "I'm the tour guide, it's my right to treat you." He simply couldn't let the subject fall so quickly, not if his male pride had anything to do with it. Still, if it went on for much longer, the brunette would likely drop it. While he was stubborn, one couldn't go as far to classify him as hardheaded.
But her next question startled Nixe, though it was perfectly acceptable for her to ask. "Well, some of it is because I grew up here, I suppose. Though you're correct - there's more to it. Chicago is an incredible city; it casts this alluring light that draws those to it's gleaming highlights. But there's also this simmering darkness beneath the streets, a call of the unknown." Breaking off, the Made Man pursed his lips. "Did that make sense?" He asked his escort, a tad worried that his ramblings were turning incoherent. |

"Fine, fine." She said, rolling her eyes as she laughed a little. The wind tousling her hair like crazy, and she shivered through her thin coat. "They really weren't joking when they said Chicago was the Windy City, huh?" M joked with a grin. "But yeah, you made perfect sense. Though now you got me curious about this darkness you speak of." She whispered with mischief in her eye. Although they never really got around to knowing each other's... job, she had a feeling he was in the same business she was trying to break into, call it a hunch, if you will. So she took a long, hard look at the man beside her and wondered if he himself was part of the darkness he mentioned. Shrugging it off as not to look weird and not to pry as well, M quickly changed the topic. Squealing, she sniffed the air and jumped up and down. "Is that... pizza I smell?" This was one of the rare moments she lets her immature side get the best of her, and for good reason-- M loves pizza. "Let's go, let's go!" |

Nixe was glad she dropped the topic of 'darkness' quickly. It was never an easy topic to talk off - how the brightest lights cast the darkest shadows. It was gloom that many were drawn into, whether willing or reluctant. He laughed when M's personality suddenly flipped at the smell of pizza. "Yup, just around the corner. It's a nice shop," Ahead of him, the male could spot the lights of the shop itself, Paddy's Pizza. It wasn't exactly well-known, but the food was quite swell, and anyways, Nixe liked the quiet. |

Practically skipping at this point, M felt her stomach grumbling and a grin splattered on her face. "Paddy's Pizza," she said, testing the name in her mouth. "I'm coming for you!" She said, as she turned another corner and set her eyes on the quaint shop. She gestured to Nixe to walk faster and dashed through the door, looking at the vast array of pizza set in front of her. She might have looked crazy but she couldn't care less, it was rare for her to have the opportunity to let loose like this anyway. She waited for Nixe to catch up before giggling, "I think I want everything." She told him, her eyes fixated on the tomato-sauced goodness. "What are you getting?" |

Truth be told, Nixe wasn't that much a fan of pizza. Sure, he ate it from time to time, usually when it was offered by someone else, but by no means would he discourage his new friend. His light eyes traveled the menu, looking for a flavor that might suit his liking. "Uhm," he responded, squinting. "I'll have the.. village special?" The special in particular was a array of vegetables; tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, peppers, topped with sausage. "What looks good to you?" |

She looked at him in disbelief, "Uhh, is that a question? Everything. Everything looks good to me." M said sincerely, eliciting a chuckle from the man behind the counter. Suddenly, M felt hyperconscious of how hyper she was acting and blushed a deep red. "I'm sorry, I must look like a nutcase to you now, it's just that... pizza really gets me excited." She apologized to Nixe as she turned to the pizza man, "And I'll have a good ol' pepperoni please." M asked sweetly as she reached into her purse for some bills. |

"It's fine," Nixe replied, jumping to assure the woman. She hadn't looked like a nutcase, exactly, just someone who was super, incredibly excited. "Everyone has their poison, you know?" His green eyes noted her hand ducking into her purse, and he reacted by covering her hand with his. "I'll pay," said the brunette, his tone firm. He had meant his promise, earlier - Nixe wasn't one to go back on what he said. |

"Is that so? So what's your poison?" She asked, her big brown eyes curious and looking straight at him, eyebrow raised. M was about to protest and insist on paying but decided against it, resolving that she'll pay him back later on. Nodding, she tucked her wallet back in her bag and raised her hands in defeat. "Alright, alright." She told him with a sweet smile. "Thank you." As they were handed their fresh slice of pizza, M started walking towards a couch-like seat towards the corner. Plopping down, she looked outside and then back to the boy. "So after lunch," She said between bites, "Where are we heading?" |

The brunette followed M, letting her to chose their seats. "I haven't found something to be addicted to yet," Nixe answered honestly. The male had never taken up smoking, wouldn't even consider the habit for it's intoxicating ending. Sure, while it was the normal to smoke, the brunette hadn't wanted that. If he was to be addicted, to be driven to a substance, he wanted it to be something that wasn't necessarily addicting off the bat. Prime example; M and her pizza. Pizza didn't hold anything unusual about it, and regardless the girl loved it to pieces. In a way, Nixe was envious, craved that connection. Even if it was over something like pizza.
"And I was thinking the Lincoln Park Zoo?" He suggested, furrowing his eyebrows. Pulling impressive pieces of Chicago out of his ass was hard, now that he thought about it. His daily schedule rarely deviated, and yet, here he was. Settling down onto the booth, the male brought his slice of pizza up to his mouth, savoring the mishmashed flavors. "I know it's not exactly interesting. But there's something about that zoo." |
