This thing we do. Started by: Htaed on Sep 23, '09 00:24

*Htaed steps out of the shadows of the alley and makes eye contact with the people going about their business.  Something in his eyes makes them stop and listen and he starts to speak*

I felt I should talk about what I'm feeling after my first day in this 'thing we do'.  I'm usually not a man of many words, but this has been such a life-altering experience I felt I should share it, if only to make sure this wasn't all a wonderful dream.  Before today, I had no direction in life.  I bounced from job to job and location to location, trying to fit in, like a square peg in a round hole.  After I snatched my first purse earlier today, it just felt right.  Then I found a family that took me in, trained me, accepted my loyalty, and sent me out to commit more crimes.  I flew from one side of the country to the other running drugs.  I earned my gun, and spent 50 large training at the gun range.  I even helped my Don's left-hand man heist a trucking company.  And the petty crimes?  I've committed so many crimes today it's ridiculous!  The cops must be totally incompetent or I must lead a blessed life.  I didn't even know there were that many local post offices.  And you know what?  I can't wait to do it again tomorrow.

Just know this, I have no allusions to becoming a leader; I am happy to finally be told what to do in life.  I will be fiercely loyal to my family, so if you don't want to get on my 'list' (and trust me, you don't want to be on my 'list') make sure you treat my family right.  Remember, I'm normally not a man of many words, so if I give you a side-long glance or a short nod of my head as we pass by in the street, that's my way of saying, "Hello."

*And with that, Htaed faded back into the shadows of the alley.  The people who had paused to listen to his story just shook their heads and went on about their business, glad they had done nothing to get on his 'list'*

I'm glad you found your call in life. It always a great feeling to have a direction and to be doing things that "feel right".

Just my opinion, and not trying to start trouble, it sounds a little weird hearing a Thug telling the Crime World at large to beware of your "list".

*You've been on the streets for years, you've seen hard men that make babies cry just by looking at them, but with this Htaed... there was just something in his eyes that disturbed you, even though he was just a Thug, like you were looking into the eyes of the grim reaper...*

As Tony was walking by he heard this guy and decided to listen. He liked what he heard. This was a guy who was learnin somethin and knew what is was like to start off in This Thing of ours. He nods his head at him and walks away down the street to a destination only known by himself.......................
