Elegance for sale! Started by: KL on Oct 12, '15 02:32

Sitting in my office I stare at the remaining few boxes as I prepare for my move to Vegas. I stand to my feet and walk around my office and down the corridor for the last time as owner.

I say my goodbye's to my staff and wish them all success. I loaded me and Lily's things into the car as we were on the way to the airport. I also spoke with Frank, my other associate who agreed to move out to Vegas as well.

Before making my departure I place a sign out front of the hotel that reads. "For Sale if interested contact KL."

As Nixe walked the streets of Chicago, he did a double take upon encountering that particular sign. While he had never gone into the grand Hotel itself, as he had no need to rent a room, he had heard tales of it's eloquent decor, and favorable reviews from those who had visited. Which was why he was so surprised to see that the hotel was up to sale.  For a few minutes the brunette stood there, outside of the hotel, his sea-green eyes thoughtfully eyeing the sign. He couldn't purchase the establishment himself, sadly, due to lack of funds, though the male did hope that Elegance Hotel went to a good owner. It would be a shame to see the Hotel fade into the background like a forgotten book.

Dub was growing weary on Kangaroo Island. He had sent his informant back to CH to check up on things. Dub was ecstatic when he found out KL was selling Elegance hotel. Dub happen to have some money tucked away from the Insurance Company when he burned down the half of the building. Dub thought to himself, "Time to move back to the Good Ol' US of A."

He caught the first plane back to Chi-Town and went straight to Elegance Hotel to meet with KL. Dub had made sure to dress his best. He had all of his money stashed in the trunk of the car during negotiations in case KL tried to pull a fast one. He looked at the sign but couldn't see a price listed. He steps through the front doors and breathes deeply through his nose bringing back memories... He looks over to the front service desk and makes eye contact with the clerk there. The clerk immediately picks up the phone and punches some numbers into the phone. Dub nods at him, picks his hat off his head and tips it towards the clerk as a small 'hello' of sorts. He ignores the quick-talking clerk calling someone to inform them of Dub's presence and continues walking up the stairs towards KL's office.

He had no idea how this would go, but he was determined to buy the hotel. He knocked on the door of the office and waited for a response.

Got word from an associate that Dub was standing In my former hotel. A lot of time had passed since we last saw each other, none the less I went to my former office to find Dub sitting inside of it. I stare with hatred as I'm sure he understood why, I took a seat with my eyes locked on him. "So you want to buy the place?... why?, I want a good owner for this place and so far you been nothing but trouble here!."

Dub stands to his feet as KL enters the room. As KL sits at his desk, Dub reaches his hand out and shakes hands with KL. Dub understood KL's hesitancy to sell his grand, elegant hotel.

"Well, Mr. KL, if it means anything, all of the terrible things I did to your hotel was in spite of you. However, we are businessmen. And this is a business. A fine establishment that you've built in spite of your competitors and myself. I can respect you for your resiliency. A true businessman. And now, word on the street is that you're moving to Las Vegas. An oasis for Hotels and Casinos. It would appear that your brightest days are still ahead of you."

Dub does a quick check of his appearance. He doesn't wanna look like a bum while trying to purchase this establishment that he knew is so near and dear to KL's heart.

"You've made great money from this grand building and, I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that I don't wanna see it come to an end."

"Appreciate the kind words Dub, like you said we are business men and as long as we put all the nonsense behind us, all is forgiven. With that said, lets discuss numbers until we agree on a price. sound fair?."

Report Post Tip

"More than fair," Dub sat back into his seat as he was now beginning to relax, "What was a number you had in mind? I noticed there wasnt a price listed on the sign out front."

Report Post Tip

I lean back and relax as well.

"Hard to put a price on all of this, 10 floors, restaurant it has it all... what's a place like this worth to you?."

Report Post Tip

Dub looks around the room inspectingly... Seemingly appraising it right there, himself.

"I am not sure, KL. How much did you put into this hotel of yours?"

Report Post Tip

Looking into Dub's eyes I respond quickly "alot!, the construction was costly. Ill shoot a number and we will go from there. 7 mill!, I would say 10 but 7 is a lucky number."

Report Post Tip

Dub chokes on his water that he was drinking.

"Good God!" he begins coughing water from his lungs, "Obviously we were very far apart!"

Dub stands to his feet and straightens himself out. "Unfortunately, I think we are just too far apart to get a deal done."

Report Post Tip

"Fair enough Dub, rather then choke to death have a seat and tell me what your thinking for a number...I'm a fair man. Sit down!."

Report Post Tip

Dub sits down unsure of where these negotiations are about to go.

"Honestly, I appraised this place at around 100k-200k. But 7 million never popped into my brain as a number I, personally, would pay. Obviously you're gonna feel lowballed after this, but hey. That's what I am willing to do."

Report Post Tip

"We are very far off!, that's a very low number. Ok 1 million!, I think its fair."

Report Post Tip

Dub looks around the room once again and sits silently for about half a minute before speaking up again...

"Alright. 1 million sounds fair. I will take good care of her while you're away." Dub stands up to shake KL's hand.
