Where did all the Tailors go? Started by: ForrestBondurant on Oct 12, '15 21:10

Walking the streets of Philadelphia, Forrest looked around at the smart attire of many esteemed mobsters, wearing beautiful, hand crafted suits. Where did they come from? Forrest wondered long and hard, he remembered reading in his ancestors journals about the many, highly skilled well paid tailors that frequented almost every business district of the country. Now they were seldom seen or heard. Forrest wanted answers, but more importantly he wanted a new suit.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please lend me your ears. Our world is severely lacking high quality tailors or I’m just behind with the times. Either way I would like to propose a competition.

The criteria is simple, I need a new suit, something that turns heads and is noticeable and I am offering all you aspiring tailors out there the opportunity to make it. I’ll leave the design aspect of it down to you.

All entries may be submitted to my mail box, the winner will be paid $500,000 and you will be credited on my calling card as the designer of my suit.

The competition will close on Wednesday 14th October at 23:59. Go!

Forrest sat back and hoped that people would take interest and unleash their creative talents, once again bringing vibrancy back to the worlds business districts. More importantly though, he wanted a new suit.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $50,000 Tip

Two little dwarfs dressed in ragged brown hooded robes awkwardly waddle up to ForrestBondurant, stopping a few feet away.  They hand four neatly packaged brown paper parcels to the curious gangster.  "The boss said have a look at these!" one of the robed figures says excitedly. The other interrupts by thumping his colleague on the shoulder and takes over speaking;

"The mighty Jabba send his regards and also sends you this message.... He would like you to try these four fine suits on and if the mighty Jabba wins your bid to clothe you, he will gladly take your prize money, but only for one of these fine suits..... If however you do want to purchace the entire wardrobe your holding in your hands the great Jabba will only charge you 1.5 Million for all. Payable of course can be installments and the great one will accept credit or coin, or indeed a combination of both, if preferred. The mighty Jabba hopes you like them all and bids you well"

The little robed men bow dramatically complete with arms splayed before turning and high five each other before scurrying quickly off, gibbering happily to each other as they go.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, the contest is now closed. I was disappointed to receive only one applicant, but I was extremely lucky in the respect that Jabba is a very skilled tailor and has designed me a suit of such high quality, that I could only have dreamed of. As a result of this and the fact that he chose to participate, I upped the prize to $1,000,000 due to the excellent nature of his work and the obvious amount of effort which has gone into it.

Your accountant has made payment of $1,000,000 to Jabba.

Thankyou and congratulations, Jabba! I would also thoroughly recommend him to anyone requiring a new suit.

Forrest steps down and begins to applaud.

Report Post Tip

When he heard Forrest was running an incentive for a tailor to design and craft his new outfit he sat by and waited. Dinty was new to America and new to the world of the underground, connections weren't as good as what he had back home so he took this opportunity to see who could make him a suit.

He sat close by with an open ear, not saying anything as he knew his place in this world and only spoke when he had something worth while or when the time was right, he wasn't one of these guys who spoke just to hear his own voice. He waited only to see one entry. Things was that one entry was enough for Forrest and Dinty himself was well impressed with the presentation and delivery of the outfits. Who knew having dwarfs present the goods would have such an impact.
