So, as I sit here looking into my future I wonder a few things... How will this life play out? What are my goals, I think that is obvious world domination. Isn't that our universal goal, exchange world for city or family or neighborhood? But we all crave in our ego to dominate and be the best at what we decided our path is...
My ultimate question lies with in this simple fork in the road, do I hide my intentions and quietly straddle the shadows building up as I go and making my move at my opponents weakest time. In the process stepping on those I lined up to be used as my own human latter to the top? Or do I find those who share the same goals and show a willingness to work together with others along the way. Laying a path of less resistance along the way?
I will assume at this point most of you reading this know my goals and intentions... The questions is , are the lot strong enough and brave enough to forge your way in this world with your intentions and goals written flatly on your sleeve? As a more important side note, are you willing to work with someone such as me? Someone who is not afraid to state his agenda is and where he stands... Will you accept this as a baseline fact and work with them understanding pretty much everyone you come into contact with shares the same agenda, some are just not as forthright and honest about it?

Yes, i believe people can work together with such an honest agenda being shared. You should be able to trust them and work with them for a while but eventually if your same goals are the same goals as one another, being world domination, then i think in the end you can trust no one at all. Because your main intentions will be to get ahead of the other person. Basically in the end its everyman for them self and you should trust no one. Trusting someone could end you up in the bottom of the lake somewhere. You never know where that path of "trusting someone" will take you. Maybe it will take you to world domination or then again it will take you to your ultimate resting place, death. I guess we will see.

What Brovetsky says is true.  It's not really possible to simply "gang up" and "revolt" against the powers that be.  But, in the end, even if you managed to succeed, you would all look at each other, and dive at one another in an angry frenzy.

The truth is, to get anywhere, you have to be patient and pay your dues.  It's really pretty impressive, when you think about it.  It's rarely possible to rise to the top through ill-gotten gains.  If you are loyal and hard-working, when the time comes, you will be given the power that we all desire.

Aiee. I think its a mistake to assume that everyone wants the same thing: power. Not everyone desires power, as an end in itself. Sure, some sometimes power is necessary to achieve other things, but some of us are more interested in those other things than the power required to get them. Power, by itself, is empty. Its only when it's put to some end that it becomes any good.

Excuse me, Astray.  I may have misspoken.  But I believe that most, if not all, of us would aspire to have a crew of our own one day.  This was the power of which I was speaking.

If not for the power, as I so swiftly generalized the value of the position to be, then certainly for the experience.  I often wonder what options come available to us (and new experiences) once we secure a headquarters of our own.

Of course, it definitely requires a certain level of power to attain, or, at the very least, to maintain that position.  If nothing else, a sort of power comes from the possession of a crew and the way in which one is then allowed to surround his or herself with a collection of individuals.

Eh, you know what they say, two heads are better than one. So I try to keep at least two on hand, just in case I need to do some hard thinking. And, with two hands, I can keep them both covered, no problemo.

You know what else they say? Too many chiefs spoil the broth! Maybe everybody wants to be a part of something but that doesn't mean everybody needs to run their own crew. If we all had our own crews, then there would be nobody left to be members. So, it makes sense for at least some of us to just be members, doing our member thing. Ya don't need much power to do that. Just enough to keep ya alive.

Astray shudders at the mere thought of being surrounded by a collection of individuals looking at her, calling her ma'am and waiting to be told what she wants them to do but secretly wishing she was dead so they could have her position

Hey now, nobody's talking about a coup here.  Except maybe Metal-Storm.

What I said is that, in order to get your own crew, or city, etc., (which most people wish to experience at least once, and is what I considered to be Metal's initially expressed goal) you have to be patient, pay your dues as part of a family, and wait for someone to authorize you to do so.  I mean, the end result is that everyone spends the majority of their time living the life that you desire, Ms. Astray, but I think that you in the minority in wishing to remain there.

You would step on your own families members, betray them or whatever applies to "step", to fulfill that unreachable goal?

I say unreachable due to what I've seen so far from your brief speech. You've already started looking far ahead, not to the here and now, and proved in this case that your interests are purely selfish. There is only what your Boss says and what your Boss expects.

Unless this was a strangely worded theoretical examination into human nature...to which I can only shrug at.

Oh, I don't doubt that I'm in the minority. But, ya know what? I bet I enjoy life here as much as anyone else.

First she scratches one of her heads, and then she scratches the other one while she thinks a minute

Ya know what? I remember when I was a little girl. It was christmas eve, and my grandmother sent my uncle out to get some canolis. He let me tag along 'cause, like, ya know, it was christmas eve, a family time. When we got to the bakery, all the canolis were sold out. Ya know what I'm saying? Everybody wants canolis at christmas dinner. I was like, bummer, grandma's gonna be pissed and nobody liked to grandma mad 'cause when she got mad, everybody paid. But, my uncle wasn't worried; he just chatted a minute with the guy working the counter, and the guy brought us 'round back and gave my uncle a dozen canolis. You know why he did that? He did that because my uncle had connections; he knew people. And not just any people. He knew the right people. And the right people knew him. All my life, I never fogot those canolis.

So, yeah, some people want world domination; some people want the experience of running a crew; others want canolis at christmas dinner. They're all valid agendas.
