A Talk With God Started by: Cin on Oct 17, '15 02:04

Cin looked up at the Cathedral. It was pitch black outside and she had wandered around the city until now. Now she was standing outside of the Cathedral. Her shoulders sagged and her heart beat faster but it was time. She had to keep reminding herself that it was tie. Tugging at her sweater she walked up the steps slowly. The church would be deserted at this time in the morning but Cin had a need to confess everything to God.

She was unsure if she believed but she needed something. She felt so desperate to get it off her chest. She needed to get the memories that haunted her soul off her chest. Soon she was at the door. Easing it open as it creaked just a little. Stepping into the front she allowed the door to close behind her as she tucked away her gun. She felt a little guilty at the weight of her gun but she couldn't afford in her life choices to be without one. The guilt would have to stay.

She found a pew with the wall right behind it. She sat directly in the middle and sat down on the wooden pew.

"Don't bless me father for I have sinned." She began.

She wasn't talking to anyone in particular. Her voice was low and she was looking towards the altar. Staring directly at the cross as her hands were laced together.

"I knew what I was getting into with the lifestyle I chose to live. I know it was going to be a hell of a ride on my emotions and thoughts. I knew though that this was the path I was meant to lead. But tonight as this man's eyes closed and his breath left his body I couldn't help to wonder if this was too brutal an act for me. "

Cin took a moment and rubbed her forehead. Swallowing the sadness that threatened to consume she remembered the memory and the anger flashed through her.

"But lord did he have the balls to disrespect my boss. What kind of ass would say such things when they were looking down the barrel of the gun? Only a complete fool. Dead is dead anyways. Right?"

Raising her eyes slightly upwards. She gave the impression to anyone who may have been gazing on like she was having a conversation and waiting for a reply from up above. Shaking her head she sighed.

"I am just sorry he didn't get a chance to suffer. If confessing alone will grant me some sort of heavenly gate thing then so be it. As I said don't bless me for I have sinned. I will continue to sin and I will remember the deeds for the rest of my life."

With a more steady mind she got up from the pew and made herself walk back outside. The chilly air cut through her sweater and once more she was on her way. Business never slept in her line of work.

The air outside was cold, but Gills didn't feel it anymore.  The only thing he can feel right now is cold rage, rising like some beast inside of him.  He walks faster, the cathedral is close now, he can see the woman hesitate outside, it appears even monsters can feel fear.  No more than a few hours ago he watched as his best friend was shot in cold blood, in the middle of a bar.  All for some passing comment about a don he had never met, but was too foolish to take back, everyone had that same dumbfound look on their face, as if they couldn't comprehend what they had seen.  Gills could, he felt every drop of blood that left Bernardo's body, as if it was his own.  He felt the slight tremor as the body hit the ground, and all the while he just sat there, feeling all, but doing nothing.  Bernardo deserves better, he deserves blood and smoke, and that's what he would get.

He walks faster, his legs a blur.  Reaching the door he slows, caution prevailing even over his anger, he draws his gun.  The cold steel grounds him in reality, it always has.  Gun in hand he inches towards the door, preparing to shove it open and blast every living soul inside, god or no.  He opens the door, it doesn't make a sound, there's only one person within the church, the same woman from outside, sitting on a wooden pew.  Gills lifts up the gun and lines up his shot, bracing himself, but oddly enough...he pauses.  A voice can be heard, not the voice of a cold hearted killer or psychopath, but a womans, light and lilting, like any other.

Sights lined up, Gills is still tensed to fire, with bated breath.  But he doesn't, he just stands there, thinking "this isn't a monster, this is just another human being, grieving for a lost soul, but is it her's or Bernardo's?"  The cold steel brings him back, his finger rests on the trigger "just do it, fire, she's right there, Bernardo is dead because of her.  But what about her?  Doesn't she have friends, family, where does it end?"  The breath starts to burn in his lungs, he lets it out "I can't do this, I can't shoot a person in cold blood, no matter what they did."  He lowers the gun, and steps back, quietly closing the church doors again, then walks away.  Not in any particular direction, just....somewhere.  One calm thought comes through his mind, clear as crystal "didn't a new church open up on 22nd?"
