It has come to my attention that many people around come out and accuse gamblers like me--yes, I am a gambler--of being unworthy to live. They are wrong! Yes, they are. Of course a gambler most of the time harms himself by losing money, and the hard thing is to keep the bad consequences of this habit for only himself and to not pass them onto the rest of his family. And most of the times he does. The right Gambler is by nature a man that will not let his own passion harm other people. A gambler most of times is a very nice person, sensitive and he knowe how to talk. The bad thing with gambling is that most of the time you lose your money. Not every time, but most times. But the gambler has also another benefit. His mind is so well trained that he can judge the opportunities of risk, and in the life we live we take risks often. The gambler cannot be a stupid man. Never. Most importantly, the gambler, the real gambler, doesn't play to earn money to live from that. He gambles 'cause it's his way of life. So, don't shoot the gambler. He's a man like you, like me. He's one of us, and maybe it's you tomorrow. There are many junkies around us in this world but we dont say anything about them, 'cause we sell them those drugs. But the casinos? The casinos don't belong to us so we accuse gamblers for going there. |

By all means gamble as long as you cover your debts and do your part for the family. The problem with the majority is that they can't draw that line where they have to gamble away everything. Countless times people have asked for loans under the cover of using it for a drug run just to eventually use it at the blackjack table. Those people deserve to be shot, whether it is for lying or for wasting family money. The gamblers' classic problem has always been self-control and it seems no different here. |

I think its just a simple case of moderation. I am a 'gambler' to the extent that I indulge in the odd bet here and there...and why not? Its entertaining, exciting and on the odd occasion worth while, but I am responsible in doing so. My gambling relys on two rules. Never bet with anyone elses money, whether it be a loan or you holding it for them. And secondly, gamble with what I have. Now what I have does not relate to my bank balance, you have to take out expenses, like kicking up to the boss, paying for a drink here and there, helping out a friend in need, savings for the future. Only after all that is deducted can you say, 'I have this amount to gamble with'. I realise this little scheme may ruin the excitment for some, those looking for that one big score and putting all their eggs in one basket, but its the sensible thing to do and maybe some people should look into applying such rules in their lives. Seriously though, gambling other peoples money and not being able to repay your debts? How pathetic are you people? |

I'm sure you mean don't shoot the good gambler, yes? If so, I agree with you. A smart gambler is an asset. A businessman. But a losing gambler is a particularly low life form. They themselves often become nothing more than a junkie. You can spot them easily, because they'll be the pale people approaching you with a perpetual three day beard, bloodshot eyes, the day's racing forms clenched tightly in their bony white-knuckled fists, asking you, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you, please, just give him a few more dollars, buddy, to see him to the end of the week, and he promises he'll pay you back, pal, as soon as he can get down to the OTB because he's got a hot tip this time, boy, and there's no way he can lose, but you better make that fifteen dollars because he had to pawn his car last week, whattayasay? The smart gambler knows that it all boils down to this: Only bet what you can afford to lose. But that hardly matters, because the smart gambler isn't a losing gambler. He knows the odds, and he knows how to work them. For every wager that doesn't pay off, there are five more that do. Every lost bet is an investment. Collateral towards a big win in the future with the knowledge he's gained from the experience. A smart gambler knows not to take anything at face value -- not a card, not a word, and not a guy with a gun. I, myself, am a compulsive gambler. I live on long odds. I just don't necessarily play cards. Oh, and Gambler (proper noun) is a pretty good guy to have around. Don't shoot him either. Thanks. |

Well I was taught from a young age "never gamble what you cant afford" but I learned the hard way and went broke anyways as I remember also hearing "if you don't make mistakes you will never learn from them" but that is beside the point. Anyways I was recently reading through my ancestors journals and came across a interesting story which is from the times when my family was new to this world and was still learning what to do and how to go about things. My relatives Sub crew leader came to him one day and asked him for a loan, Well what could he do he was just a new gangster fresh to this life of crime and although he felt it strange at the time he handed over the cash believing that the person would not ask for it unless it was necessary. As was promised the person paid back the money later that day in full so all was well. This became a regular occurrence for a long time with the person loaning different amounts of money and always paying it back. In time he learned that it was for gambling but he thought nothing of it. He could afford it and always got it back so it was no problem or so he thought. As it turns out the persons gambling habits were far greater than were ever imagined and he was millions in debt to 4 or 5 members of the family and was lending off one family member to pay another for the debts he had accumulated and each one was running out of patience with him. Of course my ancestor wanted and tried to help him, tried to tell him to stop loaning stop gambling but it was no good in the end he was a high ranking member of the family killed by the boss because he was begging for cash to help him pay off his crippling debts. Now if anyone knows me they know I love a game of poker and I would play all the time if possible but I have other things to both spend my time and money on. In short if your going to gamble treat it as a hobby enjoy it and use it as a means of relaxing after a hard day. if you make a little money donate it and get some credit for it but it can be a easy slope for people to slip down if they enjoy it just a bit too much. |

As you all know I am the reason for all of this to arise, I am the Gambler as you call it, I will tell you all how i feel. When i get money i buy drugs and sell them but then it takes an hour or more to profit again, so in that time you feel the urge to have more and more money, So you take 25k and gamble it, you win, so you go for more, or you lose and want it back so you gamble it again. Is very hard to stop, I know. In recent accounts I have had up to one million dollars and more and gambled it all away i dont know why i just wanted more and more, A friend told asked me when i got the million what more was I trying to accomplish, I said I really dont know I just needed more, So you see where Im coming from, I dont know if anuone else has the same problem that i have but it is kinda reliefing, dont know how it just is.
