To be or not to be? Started by: WiggleButt on Oct 17, '15 22:17
Isn't that the question that lingers is all when to arrive to these great shores?

"Why what do you mean the Wiggle of all Wiggles? The man of many jiggling aspects? The great and wonderful beast of a man? The...

Ok that's enough but thank you for asking. Simply put, to be or not to be in a position of power. Many of us approached these shores for many different reasons of course but is it really to become a leader or a hand within a family?

Sure power, money, greed is really the main focal points that keep us pushing hard every day. To put up with being bossed around or the feeling of having to look over your should to ensure someone isn't waiting with a stringer to remove our last breathe. Does leading or the inspiration to do so motivate everyone?

If that was the case I think we would be in more trouble then we let on to be. I truly believe there are individuals who are content with being within a family and helping create history within the ranks rather being the rank. Without Indians how would the Chiefs thrive? Would they be content with bossing around their wives? Where would organization in organized crime come in if there weren't those who enjoyed doing the dirty work without ordering it to be done?

"Geez Mr. Wiggles the one of all things bold and fabulous I have never thought of it that way."

Well consider yourself taught, without spankings which is really sad because I've heard my spankings are rather enjoyable.

Now this leads me to my next point. The lack of unity within families. Now I won't mention any names nor will I point out any family specifically for i'd then be answering more questions then asking and that's not the reason I've come here. People always question what can be done within a family to improve the unity. Ready for this? Caring about your members.

"Ohhhh ahhhh. Gosh your a smart gentlemen old brave and Wiggleful. My response of excitement was actually more intense then my orgasms. But they are faked so don't tell anyone please."

Ok well you scare me so please stop talking, thanks.

As I was saying, caring about your members is the primary step to any unity. Checking in with them frequently, assisting them with one on one issues or questions they may have. Creating an atmosphere that is rewarding for those who are putting in the hard work, and just giving a shit goes a long way. I don't care how old a bloodline may be, if they enjoy who they work for then even a who knows all will have the motivation to work hard. It's no secret, it's not hard (unless it's excited), and it's really something that can be accomplished by any mafioso given the opportunity to be responsible for others and their lives they lead.

Why address this you ask? Well you know people talk, and honestly that's worse then just having people who don't like what you wear in public. That is a big time Omertá no no. If you can't trust your members to following a code of silence then you can't trust them to pro in case of war, shoot who they are suppose to shoot, mug who they are suppose to mug, share sex stories from their night on the town, or show their loyalty in any manner.

Now I have come to learn that some are first time leaders, which is exciting to see! However, given that's the case it's imperative they understand why little Johnny blew his head off, or why there may be treachery within ranks. Not to any fault of their own as its a learning experience and sometimes you have to just toss a dog into water with no safety to teach it to swim.

It always boils down too who really wants to deal with everything that comes with the position. Many think it's picking daisies and no more hard work, then when presented with the opportunity learn that it may not be the same kind of work, but the work load has quadrupled leaving them in a world of hysteria and confusion. A bit overwhelmed and feeling a bit under the weather. What does that create? A reason to hide, a reason to avoid, and a reason to smoke illegal substances resulting in nude streaking covered in paints derived from CountryBoy's feces. Trust me it may smell sweet but you don't want to go there.

My reasoning for coming out here and speaking to everyone today is not merely to cause issues but to maybe make some realize that what they do within the family is just as important and possibly more suiting for them then actually holding the reigns. It's a tough world out here, and if someone don't penile slap some knowledge on your forehead then who will?

I agree with most of what has been said here, some people aren't motivated by their desire to lead but rather to serve. Personally, I was more than happy to serve, until the moment Mibbit set up in North Side and took the rank of Godmother and asked me to set up along side her. Being a leader is something which drives so many people, sometimes they want it despite not knowing what to do with it once they do have it.

Your point in regards to leaders caring for their members is a good one. I've always felt the philosophy of having a good rapport with your members was the way to go, however I've also served under leaders who aren't as chatty and yet I felt compelled to impress them. Different leaders have different methods, some work, some don't and you often find those who care little will reap what they sow and thus a silent crew with no bond is often found in these places.

However, going back to your original point. I think the problem lies with the fact that a lot of people are driven so deeply to don that bold suit that they don't know what to do once they get it. They have no previous experience with leading and so they struggle and it's usually these people that we will see disbanding their crews because they are out of their depth. I think it's times like these we really miss the 200 man HQ's. When they were around, it was easy for us to get an idea of how someone could lead a crew by how they ran a sub crew, or how they were a capo to several sub crews. Now, we throw people in the deep end and expect them to swim and it doesn't always work out.

Despite your good intentions, I doubt that these unnamed leaders will heed your advice, or even listen to your speech. It's just the way the world is right now. People hit the required rank, they get a crew, then they bury their heads in the sand and hope all goes well.

Thank you for your kind words Sir Rusty

I must admit the days of 200 hqs that my grandfathers journals mentioned seem to have been the days when it required to learn more then hoping to get it within a speedy time frame. The days of when it took some time and effort to become Made even had a much larger impact on people that some don't realize. It was more of an honored achievement rather then, "Wow my father was right, that was easy."

A lot of that learning I think you speak of within those large families were sub crews and actual positions that had meaning whether it was Intel or hit squad leader. They were forced to actually work hard for their title and wore it with pride. Not saying that all don't these days, but those who have never experienced it feel over whelmed with such duties once the goal is acheived. Hard to train Mafiosos with such little to do.

I agree with what you say WiggleButt, some people really have no clue how much work is involved in running and growing your own family. The people who auth them should know by now and brief them carefully on this and also guide them into becoming a good leader. In whatever position my family has been in, I've always had helpful people around me who showed me the ropes and I'm grateful for that.

And like Rusty says, there's no families with 200 members anymore these days, but I'd like to think there's still tasks to be found to test someone's capabilities. Sure on a smaller scale then back in the days, but the step up is also smaller then back in the days. WiggleButt mentions that caring for your members is important, but even caring about 40 man can be quite hard. Sponsors really have a big task here that doesn't end when a recruit steps through the doors of the family Headquarters. If a sponsor can motivate and train a recruit to get to the point of becoming a part of the family with a fair amount of wealth accumulated that's great. Meanwhile having worked and improved on the strength of their character in physical and social aspects is even more great. A recruit is being cared about. A sponsor feels responsible and involved. A crewleader can see how a sponsor handles his responsibilities over small tasks and based on that can start to trust them with greater tasks.

Or let hands or high rankers publish in-family updates on the financial status. Some families do it, others don't, but it's good for people with ambition to learn that cash doesn't always come flowing in like the Mississippi. Let them think about how to improve family profits. Again responsibilities can be tested, involvement guaranteed and a sense of unity will improve. If that person ever starts running his or her own family, they'll be less surprised when the weekly income isn't a 100 million, but those forts and bodyguards do need attention.

With some creativity there's enough tasks to be found in social and operational areas to give people with ambition a bit more responsibility before they have to get out own their own and have to do it all by themselves on a much larger scale. And not only as a preparation for auth, cause there's no need for that many leaders, but just as a boost to activity and involvement. I suspect that if each family would be creating such tasks it would be very good for our society and it will affect everyone across all ranks in a positive manner.
