Oops... I seem to have messed that up.. Anyway, the title was goin to read 'Yet another suggestion about bodyguards'

I know everyone has been banging on about them recently. Well since as far back as I can remember those who wernt connected enough to find themselfs with any have moaned that the ones with the power are too well protected etc etc

Ive had a thought which is much like a bodyguard but not quite...

So..We bring in a new feature for protection shooting. Seperate to wack but exactly the same in that its an Ajax box that you hammar away at to try to get a Pro shot in before the baddies get a Wack shot in.

If the protector wins the 'race' then instead of shooting at his own leader (which has always seemed a bit of a strange thing to do) to protect him, the poor guy infact leaps in front of the baddies bullet and takes the hit for his leader. Thats seems alot more realistic even if alot more complex.

The attacker has shot so his wack timer is put to an hour. The protector has died :( and perhaps the original target an hours protection? Not sure about that last bit.

Anyone else follow what im on about?

I think actualy that the protector has to be in the same family as the guy he is trying to save becuase why would he feel such loyalty to a different crew right?

Ive no idea how this might upset the ballance of wars and the lives of younger players by the way. This idea does test the loyalty of your members though. Just how far are they willing to go for their leader?

i agree, although will rank affect the chance of protecting someone?

Yeah I guess...I havnt really thought too much about that side of it, just the concept. Maybe it could be a skill or it could be linked to a skill that already exists that is trainable and can be put to use...

I think it's a very interesting way to implement a user-bodyguard system. They'd obviously have to be in the same city, and online, but on top of that, must be available to defend their leader. Which wouldn't happen if they're robbing a 7-11.

Although, it shouldn't be a certain death, as you seem to have suggested. It should act as if the attacker had shot the would-be saviour. They have a chance for survival as well, which takes into account the bodyguard's rank, defence stats, etc.

This is a good point. The way I had thought of it before was that the low rankers would be sacrificing their lives at an almost certain level.

If what your saying is put into consideration, accounts with more effort can be used which would certainly make wars a whole lot more interesting!

Maybe I'm just really stuck in the mud, but I just don't like this suggestion. For me, as has been said numerous times, the beauty is the simplicity. You shoot someone, you either miss, hit or it backfires. Once you get into the realms of shooting someone else instead, and they die; but the other guy gets pro? Does the 'protector' get pro if the hitter misses him? What about the high ranker, does he get pro if his protector is missed on or what? I just think it would massively overcomplicate things.

And if you're talking about low rankers giving up their accounts, that will not do anything for the userbase. Low rankers are now removed from the Leaders and communicate more (if not exclusively) with their MM + Sponsor. Expect a new player to give up his account for someone he's probably never spoken to and the realistic end is that he probably won't return - no matter how moblike and idealistic as it would be :/

Very good idea, but, would there be ways to fail to protecct your leader?Maybe the bullet goes through and kills the both of you, maybe you're jump is too late and your boss dies?

I absolutely love this idea,a lot of CLs say you must be willing to give up your life for theirs, this would actually do it...It's good, but needs a little more work.
