Maxwell, this is why I decided to bring this conversation up. Because I actually don't have an ulterior motive for it, other then what I express. I don't use my gun. I don't shoot inactives, I don't train it. Why? Because I don't care to. I'll let others who are good at it train, and then I'll use my businesses to help pay them to train. That's how I do things. I'm a business man, consider me the mafia's store front. I put up shops to launder the money, that's my sole career choice. So, no, I don't want the rule abolished to have more shots. I want the rule abolished because it adds nothing to protect anyone. It's a useless rule that could only places a band-aid on a real issue. We can sew up that issue by delegating people to help out the civilian's upon entering our world. |

That doesn't explain why the rule should be abolished. "It doesn't work as well as it should" does not justify getting rid of it. Murder is illegal. People still get murdered. Should Congress repeal the criminal prohibition against murder? What you are suggesting makes no sense. Even if the rule is useless, as you say it is, what harm comes from keeping it? It's not like we have to pay a monthly fee to keep it on the books. This is all irrelevant, anyhow, because you are simply wrong. There are people who talk to these new immigrants. In fact, blatant member whoring has made a strong comeback. And the rule DOES help people stay safe long enough to find a family. People who get caught breaking the rule DO get punished, ALL of the time in my family, and I know at least some of the time in other families. You want the rule gone, and instead have our leaders talk to these people. Those who wake up as Gangsters won't be alive long enough to to have a conversation. |

The great debate of the 48 hour rule is always a good one. I have heard many opinions on the topic and most were worth hearing. I for one, think 24 hours is long enough to join a family and figure your way around this "thing of ours". I also think that anyone can be a victim of a new gun. Yes anyone! The 48 hour rule is ridiculous. It protects new threats that are coming onto our shores. There are countless reasons why it should be abolished but this is the one that should concern all Family Heads. |

Honestly the 48 hour rule is a crew leaders decision. Though Crew leaders shouldnt need to engage beyond that... unless its broken. A Crew leader only real job is to cordinate thier trusted people who in turn take care of the other people in the crew. Thats why we have a chain of command. Though I have had the expirence of leaders who found they wished to interact more which i find enjoyable but is not their job. So really i wouldn't attack the leaders over this. |

Humm, I think the big problem isn't the 48 hour rule, I think the problem has to do with the fact that people come to our world and get lost. (OOC: can't figure out how crimes work, Don't know how to find a family, let alone join one, and so on) I think that the 24 hours would be enough if people actually used it all to get the hang of this world (OOC: or learn the in and outs of the game) often people will come to this world and decide to give up because it's a bit much to take in and under stand, and if more people were willing to teach then and take them under their wings while they learned, it'd help make moving into this new and bold world allot easier... I have an old journal from my great great grandmother, the first of my line to come to this world, though she left rather quickly, finding herself lost in a sea of buildings, she ended up getting killed friendless and crew-less while she was still learning the way around... So, please, don't drop this on the leaders, Bulldogs right, they have enough trouble running the crews to have to deal with every passing shmuck... frankly, just setting up a public office threw which people can come to get aid, (like a map of our streets) and information... or as Head-starts for Hoodlums has done, send out pamphlets, just please don't spam the poor people off the streets or leave them to rot... ^.^ |

Life is so unfair isn't it? If lazy crewleaders aren't busy enforcing the 48 hour rule we're seen as unfeeling tyrants pandering to the trigger happy masses. If these same lazy crewleaders DO enforce the 48 rule we're doing so only because it absolves us from interacting with newcomers. In your diatribe you seem to be ignoring the efforts of all of us to maintain peace, and for the time we have put in educating those new to our shores. We don't do it for personal gain or accolades, it is something that is necessary for our respective communities survival. To throw out a blanket statement that we are so worried about other peoples perceptions of how we operate that we isolate ourselves in our little fortresses of solitude is contemptible at best. You should take a step back into reality now please. Sometimes we sit in church and we're talking amongst ourselves and we have a visit from one of the Gods. Trust me, when a God speaks you listen. The 48 hour policy is supported by the Gods and they ask it to be upheld and enforced. We pray for guidance, and our prayers have been answered. Who am I to question intelligent design? I am just a humble man doing what he thinks is best. |

Sin is such a relative term boss... Let's just hope the 'Gods' keep being polite and choose NOT to bathe us all in fire (which would destroy the booze)... In my time here I have learned that alot of this game, is showing restraint. Learning the 'unspoken' rules, etc. |
