Recently When i was wandering in and out several public places i was hearing alot of talk on the "new kids on the block"

alot of bad stories on these new thugs and gangsters concerning disrepect death threats and sometimes just blind stupidness.it appears alot of these people think rank means nothing and therefore no respect is required.

But to get to my point.

does all you made men, respected CL's, and feared mobsters treat ALL new people like they are going to do plain stupid things? are we all tarred with the same brush? are we all pin pointed as trouble makers? are some not willing to take us under there wing and helped in fear of disapointment?please discuss.

     I think that the problem lies not with the new guys, but with the old guys.  Often we are so desperate to help our family grow, that new recruits are not properly taught the ways of this world.  Namely, in reference to a previous topic that I believe you are referring to, patience.  In many cases, hot-headed youths are anxious to start shooting--to act tough and make a name for themselves.  Obviously, the result is rarely, if ever, success.  In a sense, that is a way for them to learn.  If this world of patience, experience, and earned achievement is not for them, then there are other places for them to go to let out this lust for battle.  It's important to let them know this as well.  It is imperative to immediately inform new recruits of the ways of this world.  If it's not for them, then they may go.

     So to answer your question, John, I would say that we are not nearly cautious enough of people like you.  Not that there is anything wrong with young blood--you guys are our future.  But, often, in a rush to recruit, the proper steps are not taken to ensure a necessary understanding of our world's methods.

i honestly believe i'm different my CL has gave me a chance and im getting taught alot at the moment

its topics like the one im relating to that makes me so eager to prove people wrong so hopefully their wrongs will pave my path

Wow, I've found quite a few interesting topics to discuss in my travels today.  I like the questions you have posed.  I don't claim to know the answer to many questions, but I sure like to offer my perspective from time to time.  Kramer and donny have made some good points that I can't say I disagree with, but just to add my two cents...

First of all, I don't believe you are all the same.  I believe you are all different, and most of you are a product of your environment and upbringing.  The problem with many new gangsters is that they have a sense of entitlement.  They feel as though they are entitled to respect the minute they walk off that ship.  They feel like they are entitled to join whatever family they want - and to seek entry into as many families as they choose in order to accept the "richest" offer.  They feel like they should be given everything, and have to work for nothing.  Now, again, I'm not referring to EVERY new gangster, but I am referring to quite a few, who have made it difficult to see beyond their stupidity.

The question is - why do they feel so entitled?  Now, this is where the older members of the community have to take some of the responsibility.  We are enablers.  When crewleaders send unsolicited invitations, offer cash to new members if they join their family, or simply accept the stupidity, then we have nobody to blame but ourselves.  Unfortunately, having our own sense of entitlement, and our inability to take responsibility for our actions, we simply blame the youngsters, call them stupid, and send them to the bottom of the ocean in a pair of cement shoes.

It is a vicious circle.  And it needs to be fixed.
