New Fourm. Started by: RedRum on Nov 04, '15 20:19
So Lately ive been thinking, well the streets sounds more of a place where speeches happen, not storys, so im thinking there should be a new fourm, somewhere that RP storys get told, im keeping this post short, so please give your feed back.

I feel like the Business District should be renamed in such a way to make it accessible for RP stories OR businesses. That way it's localized, no one is confusing it for anything other than an RP, and cities can manage their own district as they see fit. Plus, I think it would provide a decent boost to the BD activity.

Report Post Tip
But if storys were localised, views would decrease to bare minimum, and alot of people would never know the story existed.

Or we can just use the streets for both speeches and stories? I know I have in the past and had absolutely no problems doing so.

Having a new forum for stories as well as the streets for speeches is just going to create two forums where neither looks particularly used and loved.

That said, I'd rather that than push stories into the BD's, because, as RedRum has said, fuck all nobody will see them or respond to them, and there's very little enjoyment in putting time into writing things that then are literally being seen by nobody.

Report Post Tip
Yeah, but people name speeches like there storys, I Click them and then im like Nope, I Cant stand the ramblings of crewless bums, If its an important speech i'll read, so if we get a new thread we can segregate the RP'ers and the speech crafters.
Report Post Tip

So you want an entire new forum, because you don't like how people name their speeches and stories? :/

Report Post Tip
Didnt get to finish, my MR Went crazy sorry.

It'll also let you find who the RP'ers Are, creating a community of us.
Report Post Tip

Honestly, I know very few people who read RPs. As an avid RPer, the joy I get is in writing them not in having them read by others. For this reason I prefer RPing in the BD instead of the Streets.

Report Post Tip

It's perfectly possible to find out who the RPers are at the moment. It just requires you to actually look.

Report Post Tip
Nope. Can't agree with this one at all. The community is already too mute as is. We have two RP forums that are pretty much dead. We have an OOC forum which for the first time since I started playing this game is less active than the RP forums. (The Help, Suggestions, News, and Outside don't really count as main focus forums to me so I'll just ignore them for all intensive purposes.)

What sense does it make to split up forums that lack the amount of activity they have in the past?

Think about when you first start playing a game like this. You check the forums. If you see 4 main forums with very little activity that kinda says the game is lacking in that way. You see three somewhat active game forums and it's not quite as bad.

It'd be like adding cities to the game at this point in time. We don't have the population to fill the cities/districts we have now (See LA and PH on the Crews page.). We don't have the active/verbal population to support the forums we have now either.

There are many RPers out there, we see more stories than speeches these days. I'd rather read speeches than stories, but I can open a thread, read a few lines, decide if I want to read it or not, and go from there. We can all do that. I hope. You are perfectly capable of this I am sure. If you don't like something, don't read it. Don't reply to it.

I like this suggestion. I've had the same thought in the past. I think it would make it better for both sides, both story tellers and straight street speakers. I really don't think the activity of the forums should be looked at regarding a change like this. Just keeping the forums together for this sake, to make it 'look more active', in my opinion is complete fluff. The point is to separate the forums to give story tellers their own environment. Too many story posts get looked over because the Streets forum is more for speeches. If story posts had their own forum, I really believe this will breathe new life into this part of the game and give these posts and the posters their own little world and space to do their thing. As it stands, I believe people don't really care for the posts as much because the forum they are in doesn't really make sense.

I don't see the harm in giving a new section to the forums to split the threads in two. I think this will make it easier to navigate posts, and will actually help improve the activity if anything. People tend to be lazy on here when it come to posting as it is, and as soon as they open a streets story post it gets closed when they realize that it's a story. Split the forums, so people know what they are getting into when they click on a thread.

Change isn't really that bad, if anything a change like this could actually make the forums better in general.

Report Post Tip

I think stories can remain in the streets. Speeches and stories are both seen in the streets. Whether or not anyone replies you know they have seen it by the views on it.

Report Post Tip

I have to agree with Crayon on this. I've seen it happen before that a group looked at doing a "Story RP" together and you had other people coming in spouting things about how people put anything in the streets nowadays.

Speeches seem to do better in the streets then stories do. The only way I've really seen Stories survive was if they were done by one single person and in parts... if you try anything other than that, it doesn't always work out. So, there really is no harm done by putting in one more section so that if anyone DOES want to tell a story about anything... they can do so.

Not to mention... The streets can become a bit of a cluster fuck with all the speeches at get put out and things tend to get lost REALLY easily in there.
