A Little Something Extra Started by: Cin on Nov 10, '15 20:45

Cin had been looking for that perfect abandoned shop in Detroit. She had spent so much time getting things set up perfectly that she knew it would be a good place to deal with potential associates. She didn't just want any riff raff coming through her headquarters and causing a scene that the local authorities may see. This seemed like a better solution to that problem.

She managed to locate the buildings previous owners and got the keys. This would mean she was not trespassing or causing issues. She was just not using it for more than handing out jobs. She'd have her family from time to time also carry out jobs but they would have to meet her here as she spent so much time in this building. Always watching and waiting for the next hard worker to stroll through those doors.

Today was one of those days that were slow and she found herself cleaning the place up. The previous owners had not done much to the building since it went out of business. As she was cleaning some of the shelving off she began to wonder if this could be a second spot. Maybe a hang out for her family on their spare time. The more she thought of it the better the plan came to her. She'd have to assign jobs.

Cin went outside and saw a local boy hanging around. She waved the kid over and smiled as she recognized him as one of her usual errand boys.

"I need you to run across the city and leave a message for my family. Can you do that?"

"Yes ma'am"

"Good, once you get there, tell them Cin has an idea and needs some help over at the empty shop."

Cin had him repeat it to her and sent him on his way with half the payment for the errand. She knew he'd be back in the next hour for the rest. In the meantime she started moving around the old tables that were sitting in the shop. She checked how sturdy the chairs and tables were. She set the items that were not sturdy to one side and the rest went to the opposite side.

Nearing the hour there was a tap on the window. Cin looked up to spot the errand boy. She smiled at how fast he was and went over towards him. She tossed him the rest of the errand money.

"Thanks kid."

He nodded towards her and she found a chair to sit back and wait on. Soon help would arrive and she'd set her plans to into motion.

Ricky parked his car in the alley next to Cin's new place. He parked in the alley to avoid coming out and finding the wheels stolen off of his car yet again, typical Detroit nonsense.

Ricky strolled through front door and was thoroughly impressed with the size of the old joint, which quickly turned into a realization of how much work there was to do. Figuring it was best to get right to the task at hand, he asked Cin

What can I do ya for Boss?

Report Post Tip

eZ_M0ney was sitting down at a table at his family's headquarters. He was the only one there at the time and was doing what he did best--counting cash. He'd been counting the profit from the previous day's heist and was separating a cut for Cin, his leader.

A knock on the door echoed across the room.

eZ_M0ney opened the door to find one of their family's errand boys outside looking up at him.

"Cin sent me to deliver a message, sir. She said had an idea and needed help at the new shop," the boy handed eZ_M0ney a slip of paper with an address on it.

He got Cin's cut from the previous day, put it in an unmarked envelope, holstered his gun, grabbed his coat and was out the door. He followed the address sent to him. He knocked on the door and was greeted by Cin. He handed her the envelope--she smiled knowing very well what was inside. She asked him to sit. He walked to the table where Ricky was already sitting.

"So what's goin' on guys? What can I do ya' Cin?"

Report Post Tip

Cin had Ricky and eZ_M0ney in front of her. She had grabbed her purse and was quietly counting out cash as they waited to hear what she had planned for them.

"Okay so there are two of you so this should be much easier. Since Ricky has his vehicle it will be even faster. You see those chairs and tables to the left?"

She pointed towards the stack of chairs and tables.

"You need to get some bolts and screws or whatever will fix those. I need some tools also for that. I need stuff to clean this place up. Windows, tables, chairs, everything. I mean top to bottom. But I need those supplies when you go shopping. Once you guys are done that you will be in charge of fixing those chairs and tables. Is that okay with you?"

Cin stared at both of them as she put the money for everything into an envelope for them.

Report Post Tip

eZ_M0ney looked over to Ricky and looked back at Cin.

"Fine by me," he said.

Report Post Tip

Ricky and eZ immediately acknowledge their task and pop up from their chairs to get right on them.

Upon walking outside, they encounter their first issue; even though Ricky had tried to be cautious with his car and park in an alley, Detroit lived up to its reputation and without a doubt the wheels were missing on his car. Ricky was impressed at the fact that nobody noticed anyone putting a car on cinder blocks and leaving with wheels. Either way, there were chairs and a table that needed fixed and cleaning to do.

"Well eZ, since we aren't driving anywhere we might as well split up and knock this stuff out as quick as possible. You go ahead and go to the hardware store and find some things to fix up the furniture inside. Ill go get some things to tidy the place up a bit."

As he turns to head to the store Ricky passes a street corner with some fellas selling wheels with slightly used tires. He admires those young boys and their dream of starting their own street business, never even thinking those were his wheels.

When he gets to the store Ricky realizes he sent the envelope with all of the money with eZ and he was going to have to make due with cash in his pocket. Counting the cash he realizes that he has $33.45 and some cocaine, looks like its time for him to get his trading skills ready.

After going through each and every aisle Ricky fills a cart with everything they will need to clean up Cin's new place and really make it feel less like the abandoned building it was.  Ricky knows that he is short on cash and is going to have to target a certain cashier, but which one. Looking towards the end he sees an impressionable youngster yawning, bingo!

"Buddy have I got the thing for you!!!"

Pulling out all of his cash the cashier stares at him as to say, are you serious buddy? Well, Ricky was in fact very serious so he pulled out the coke and set it on top of the money. The cashier raised an eyebrow and then shrugged while saying "Fair enough."  Smiling from ear to ear Ricky starts back towards the new place, pushing his cart the whole way. The store had enough carts, he needed this one. Strolling back Ricky sees the young boys now with only one wheel left as he continues on he passes the alley with his car and sure enough someone stole the cinder blocks from under his car. With a deep sigh Ricky walks away taking his shiny new cart and cleaning things inside.

While walking to the hardware store, eZ_M0ney pulled out the envelope to count the cash given to him. Realizing that Ricky had no money with him, eZ couldn't help but laugh. He could only imagine the things Ricky was going to have to do to get his part of the job done.

Upon reaching the hardware store, eZ flicked his cigarette towards the road after giving a cop a dirty look. Walking through the store, he picked up some furnishing nails, sand paper and wood stain to spice up the color of the wood, and various other things. He saw a cashier that looked familiar. He remembered who the kid was. The young man used to run errands for the family in the past. He approached the cashier.

"How's it goin'?" he asked the young man with a smile.

"eZ! Sir! How have you been?" he recognized eZ immediately.

"Can't complain. Yourself? How's the job treatin' ya? Haven't seen you around," he ask while pulling out cash to pay for the hardware.

"Good. I'm sorry I haven't been around. It's just that my ma' was givin' me a hard time about runnin' jobs for ya. Don't worry about the tab, it's on the house! Put your money away, sir! Please," he was bagging the hardware quickly.

"Ah..I see what you mean. Sorry to hear that but you gotta' respect yer ma'. Give her my best, and you come to me if you ever need anything buddy. And thanks for the hardware," he told the cashier, grabbed his bags, and walked out the store.

He sparked up a cigarette, blowing the smoke in the direction of a nearby cop before beginning to walk towards the new shop. Surely enough, he reached the shop just as Ricky as arriving as well.

Report Post Tip

Cin had been surprised that the men had returned so quickly. She watched them as she they came through the doors. Heading towards them she gathered up the cloths and pointed towards some sandwiches that she had, had delivered.

"I had expected more people to arrive to help out but so far it's the three of us. First get some food into you and then you can get started on those wobbly chairs and tables. I already ate so don't mind me. I will just start with cleaning the good chairs and tables while you two get a break in."

Cin gathered the cloths and went to grab a pail she had just filled with hot water. Taking them both to a far end she started working on the tables and chairs. She scrubbed every bit of wood and got all the dust off. She would be at this for a little while yet since she had a clean freak bit to her. She scrubbed each chair and table as hard as she could to get all the years of build up off of it.

Report Post Tip

eZ_M0ney approached the sandwiches Cin had gotten for Ricky_Bobby and himself. He picked one up and being the picky eater that he always was, inspected it to be sure there wasn't any sort of vegetables in it. After picking out the lettuce and tomatoes, he went to town on the sandwich and it was gone in a few bites. After wiping off his face, he grabbed a back of nails and wood glue, and then approached the wobbly chairs and tables.

"Yo Ricky, hurry up with that sandwich. I'm not sure how much longer these damn chairs and tables are gonna stand up on their own," he gestured while accidentally breaking a chair and looking at Cin to confirm she didn't notice.

After picking up the pieces of the broken chair and tossing them out the back door without telling Cin, he started repairing the what was left of the chairs.

"I guess I'll do the chairs and you take care of the tables Ricky. Sound fair? Yeah? Good. Okay," he told Ricky without him even agreeing.

Report Post Tip

Standing there, sandwich in hand, Ricky takes a second to thank baby Jesus for the meal. He tries to take a minute to enjoy it even as eZ_M0ney hassles him to do some actual work. Feeling just short of satisfied he shoves all of the toppings eZ had taken off into his mouth and heads over towards the table that he had been tasked with reviving.

After a few minutes of standing there Ricky decides that his best course of action will be to fold napkins up and put them under the table legs until the wobble is gone. Knowing that he needs to figure something out before Cin notices, Ricky tries to look busy and starts thinking of ways around having to fix and clean the table. Now that he has made it a bit more stable he throws a sheet over the top as a makeshift tablecloth to cover the filth. At this point he has spent more energy avoiding fixing the table than it would have taken to just fix it. That's when genius strikes and Ricky knows the solution to his problem.

Throwing his coat on and rushing out the door Ricky mutters "Be right back"  and walks out before Cin or eZ_M0ney have a chance to ask where he was going, let alone why there are no napkins left and there is a sheet on the table. Ricky heads out to figure out where to get a new table and how in the world he will get it back to the new place since his car seems to have been parted out even further than it was last time he passed it.

Report Post Tip

eZ_M0ney looked up to find that Ricky was missing. He looked at Cin only to catch her looking at him, displeased. He looked back down at the chair he was working on. He put wood glue where the chair's leg met the part you put your ass on. He nailed them in a way that fastened them well and also didn't let the nail interfere with the person sitting on it. He got sandpaper and evened out the bottom of the chair's legs until the chair was level with the ground and didn't wobble.

It took him a while but all the chairs were fixed and only needed time to let the wood glue dry and settle. He lightly sanded down the chairs before giving them a light coat of wood stain to natural grains of the wood.

He looked at Cin for approval, only to notice that she was eyeing the chairs...she had to be counting them. He knew he had to ditch out before she scolded him for the missing chair.

"I'm gonna step outside for a quick smoke break Boss. Ricky is probably outside with one of the chairs," he lied hoping that she'd eventually forget about the chair after a few minutes.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

Cin had been busy cleaning the tables but she knew what was going on around her at all times. Eyeing eZ before he made his dash outside she knew something was up. Placing the cloth into the bucket she walked over to the opposite side of the room. Slowly she circled the table with the covering on it. Last seen at this table was Ricky so she peeled back the table and inspected it.

She found the napkins from the table and took them out. Shaking her head she began to mutter to herself. By now she had enlisted the help of two of her people but it didn't seem to be enough. She moved onto the chairs and began to inspect the work. eZ had done a great job on the chairs and she had already seen him break one. Silently she wondered what she should do next.

Pacing the shop in between handing out envelopes to those trying to get some other kind of work from her. She began to speak to herself.

"What to do, what to do.."

She stayed this way for quite some time as she racked her brain for which option would be the best. To call in professional help or to try her family once again.

Report Post Tip

Ricky burst through the front door grinning from ear to ear. He had solved the issue of the beat up old table.

"You are not going to believe what I found" he said as he started trying drag the table towards the side of the room.

"I hit the jackpot! I found a truck that had tables and chairs and couches inside. Someone just left it open and parked in front of a house. There was some guys carrying things inside the house from the truck but they seemed ok with me taking the truck. They even ran behind me waving and saying hey when I left."  It was readily apparent Ricky had no idea that he had stolen a moving truck while someone was moving.

"Can you help me move this table Cin? I want to get these things inside so I can park the truck before some dirty criminal thinks he can steal something. "

Beaming with pride, Ricky felt a bit confused as to why Cin was just staring at him and shaking her head like he had done something wrong. He was sure whenever eZ got back that he would have someone to share his enthusiasm with. Ricky sets a package of new napkins on the old table and heads towards the door to start getting the new furniture inside.

Report Post Tip

eZ_M0ney was walking down the sidewalk smoking his cigarette. As he was nearing the shop, he tossed his cigarette towards the street and looked up at a huge truck. On the side it read R & R Moving Co. Confused, he walked into the shop to find Cin glaring at Ricky_Bobby.

"Hey Cin...uhhh..what's the deal with moving truck? Did you order furniture or something?" He was hoping she'd say that she ordered furniture even though he already knew it was a stolen truck.

Cin just looked at him and looked back at Ricky and put her face in her palm.

"You crazy son-of-a-bitch..." he told Ricky.

Report Post Tip

"This might sound a little strange, but there is this saying....Finders, keepers and by golly I found this stuff. Whats done is done, lets get this stuff inside and I'll return the truck."

Since Cin and eZ_M0ney thought Ricky was out of his mind, Ricky had to figure a way to get the truck unloaded and away from Cin's new place before things got worse for him. He walked down to the corner and struck a deal with the guys who were still trying to sell the last of the wheels he had seen them with earlier in the day.

With the help from the shady wheel salesmen Ricky got the furniture off of the truck and into the alley behind the building. He figured Cin could pick through what she wanted and thieves would take care of the leftovers. "Just set it all over there by that broken chair"Ricky laughed when he wondered if eZ had told Cin he broke one of her chairs. To Ricky's surprise the nice young men were even kind enough to offer to return the moving truck. He happily gave them twenty bucks and thanked them for their extra effort.

As Ricky was walking inside to ask Cin to pick out what she wanted, he realized that those guys never got the address to return the truck to. That's when it hit him, the wheels they were selling were probably the ones that were stolen off his car, and the truck most likely wasn't going to get back to the place it came from.

He shrugs his shoulders and continues through the door "Hey Cin, lets do some shopping!"

Report Post Tip

Cin had been watching Ricky moving furniture around. She had stood there slightly dumbfounded for a little bit before it all sank in. He had stolen the truck! She started to laugh as eZ and Ricky both looked at her confused. Surely, they could see the humour in it.

"I get it that we aren't in the most respectable field of work but what possessed you to steal that truck?"

It took a few more minutes before she could resume a straight face. She could only shake her head since there was no point in worrying about it now. The moving truck had gone away and she stood staring at the new furniture. She had to give Ricky credit it wasn't terrible looking so at least he stole from people with decent taste.

"Ricky are you going to take out the other furniture  or put it in the basement before we go shopping? And what exactly are we going shopping for?"

She looked from the old furniture to Ricky and eZ and back again.

Report Post Tip

"We can shop for whatever distracts you from the fact that I stole a moving truck!"

Ricky grins at Cin while positioning himself behind the shopping cart he had stolen earlier that day at the store.

"Ill buy whatever you want, so long as it fits in my cart."

Ricky had a hunch that he might have been better off fixing the original table in the first place but this plan surely had to get him out of trouble.

"Heck, we might even get lucky and find another truck full of free stuff."

Ricky figured he needed to test the water and find out whether or not she had found some humor in the situation or if he needed to behave himself for a bit.

"So what do ya say Cin, we can go buy some stuff to stock this place up in case anyone else actually shows up, or I can go ahead and take care of it myself, but I make no promises about where that could lead me."

Ricky waited for a response and kind of hoped eZ would cut in a distract everyone from the situation that he had caused.

Report Post Tip

eZ_M0ney looked around the store and took a moment to think.

"Well...assuming we are going to be in and out of here I guess we do need some stuff. I'm assuming we should probably stock up on booze, cigarettes, and food for the people who are coming in and out. Also, some decor for the walls wouldn't hurt either. But that's probably out of my range of expertise," he told Cin.

He turned around and looked at a corner of the shop and started picturing it all in his head--a custom built bar just for the family.

"What do you think about me building a bar Cin? It'd be nice to have our own little bar and I could put it together myself," he asked Cin hoping that he could get his own little slice of heaven in the new shop.

Report Post Tip

Ricky stood straight faced with his eyes darting back and forth between eZ and Cin, hoping that eZ_M0ney's great idea was enough to distract his boss from being mad at him.

"That is the best idea I've heard all day eZ. I should get rid of this old table!"

With that, Ricky swiftly kicked out one of the old table legs and grabbed it while moving towards the back door.

"Im going to get rid of this real quick" Ricky said as he stepped out the back door for some fresh air.

Report Post Tip

Cin had to laugh at Ricky again. It was impossible not to when he was around since he came up with the craziest ideas she had ever heard of. He always made for an amusing day though.

"First Ricky you and eZ need to get rid of the old furniture or pay someone to do it. You are not getting out of it that easily. Then if you take eZ with you then you can go shopping for whatever you need."

She glanced around the room. Her brain was already going to work on the cleaning she could get done while the two took off. Finishing the dusting would keep things much nicer and they could put away all the food and stuff when they got back into cupboards not filled with crap.

"You want to build a bar? By all means, just keep it out of the main room. Can't have someone coming by and getting us in trouble with that stuff. Make sure you pick up good stuff too. Some fruit wouldn't kill you guys."

She smiled over at them. She couldn't find it in her heart to be mean when they were doing so much to help her out. Maybe she should try to get CarloJr down here for some help as well.
