Luongo steps out into the streets. He looks around and notices a lot of family crests running around. The surprising thing to him is there is only 5 crests he can notice. He makes sure to recount thinking he is wrong.Nope he was right. He turns to the crowd and speaks out. I take a look at our many fine cities and wonder to myself lately. With the amount of people in this thing of ours, does it seem right that we only have 5 families? Is there really no other people that our current heads believe are ready to take up the task of a family? Take a look at the current families. We have many families closing in on the 100 member mark...can we actually still call them families? Will the leader really get to know there family 100%?? With the amount of capo's running around...I must wonder to myself. If there is no one in that group that is ready to lead, then why are they being promoted? We have people like Maxwell and JohnnyAxe whose bloodlines have passed down generations of experience.I can only hope the reasons why they have not been given a chance to step up is because they have been asked and refused of there own free will. They would be great additions to our worlds leadership. They both have street presence. They have a wealth of knowledge. Is there truly a reason why this world has settle into a 5 family regime? I ask you my fellow associates, what are your thoughts on this situation. He looks out into the crowed for someone who is willing to add to his present thoughts |

Zig-Zag leans against a pole, and listens to Luongo. There's too many people, not enough families, does that about sum up your statment? Ok, good. Let me put it this way. You want families? Find people that can lead. Right now there's shit for smart people. And, those whom are decent and smart enough, are also smart enough to stay the fuck out of the lime light. I'd say auth 2 people in the next month, that's what I would do in their position. But what do I know, right? I mean, I've only done comprehensive research through my families journals, and through the journals of families around far before my own ancestors got off the boats. But, what do I know, eh? |

*steps from around the corner after hearing out Luongo* I think a big reason for the lack of prople wanting to step up and become a leader in this world Is simply they dont want to die. It seems that time and time again, once this world gets around 7 or 8 leaders, we get a rogue come around and knock off a couple, and there usually the newer bosses. This deteres people from getting a HQ, they feel more comfterble sitting in the family they are in, and ranking under a leader who has already proved themselves in the world, and just stay back in the shadows. Also, we all know Johnny Axe's family line is full of experience, His line has proven leaders, But for him to go out on his own, I cannot see him doing. With his current position in the family, he has no reason to leave. Him and oliver are a great pair, splitting them up I think would just divide the crew in half, some to go with Johhny, and others to stay with Oliver. It only makes sense that he wouldnt start his own family, especially now. |

One hundred people in a family isn't that much, if the family is run properly. I'm thinking back to the days when there were at least 100 in every family. The big difference is that subcrews were actually used for the purpose they are meant to be used. A leader doesn't need spend his or her time getting to know everyone in the family. Ideally, this would be nice, but it's not a priority. A family hierarchy is put in place in order to deal with numbers. The ordinary member would go to their SCL with problems or concerns, not to the Boss. This doesn't happen much anymore, because our numbers have consistently dwindled since the days of the 200 member families, and it hasn't been necessary. Ideally, we would have 50 member families in each city, rather than a few with 100 members. Smaller families mesh better and have fewer problems. However, right now we have competetent leaders. I'm sick of tards setting up only to embarrass themselves or do something stupid. I'm in no hurry for a new auth to take place, as long as we have space in our families without going over 100 members. I agree with Zig Zag. Let someone show they are capable, worthy, and bright enough, before we force the issue. I'm not seeing much at the moment. And no, I don't want my own family. I have an important job where I'm at, and it would be disloyal to leave. |

Just in response to some of the issues that have been raised here, I'd like to throw in my thoughts. People often say that so and so has had a wealth of experience passed onto them down their bloodlines, and that it'd be a travesty if they were not given their own family to run. I do not understand this train of thought. Until they themselves have proved themselves worthy, their bloodline should make no difference whatsoever. Imagine - my great-grandaddy was the greatest baseball player ever...broke so many records, and this feat was matched and possibly exceeded by his son, my father. Now I can have read all their reviews, listened to all their advice....and could go out in the yard, and something just doesn't click! I could spend the rest of my days in the minor leagues - because....I AM NOT MY ANCESTORS - I am the next generation, an individual, related by blood, yes - but that alone isn't sufficient to make me into the people they were. So just because someone's great uncle fred was a fantastic crewleader, that doesn't mean to say that they will follow in their footsteps. How often throughout history have we seen cases where the offspring of an acclaimed person either through personal choice, or through circumstances beyond their control, end up travelling along a totally different path? |

By my count, there are 61 open spots in crews. Yes, this involves estimation on HQ sizes. But yes, I'm probably right. Anyways... On one hand, that is a fair amount of space. Plenty of room. We can accommodate new members. And those HQs are growing, making room for more members still. On the other hand, five families doesn't offer much choice to new blood entering this world. Ollie, Ron and Cthulhu all have 10 or less openings by my count. Ron has admitted to being extra strict in choosing members. This doesn't leave much room for error. Perhaps a new, up-and-coming family would be a good thing. Perhaps it would be unnecessary. One thing worth noting: Luongo was Made yesterday, in minimum time. Perhaps there is more behind the timing of this speech than has been revealed... |

I have no ulterior motives to my Speech Mister Durden. I myself know I am far from ready to take on the responsabilities of a family.I still have a lot to learn. You may ask my leader. I have approached him numerous times asking what he felt I needed to work on, to better my chances in the future. I don't just want to jump into a position where I have many lives at stake, and not know what I am doing. That would not be fair to those who join me and work hard. The day I know I will be ready is the day my boss tells me I am ready. After all no one is a better judge for that than the boss himself right? |

Eddie_Dean beat me to my exact sentiments on this subject. There's A LOT of people around these parts that have picked up the experience, yet they're not given the opportunity. I won't go into my opinions as to why that is...clearly that's a very controversial subject. Now as to us only having five crews...I hate it. Many others hate it. Over the past few days we've already heard a plethora of people come forward suggesting that they were nothing more than "cash cows" for their families. Can a 100 man crew work? Sure. Anything can be made to work, but is it really working? Why these kind of complaints then? Going back to what Eddie_Dean said too, in a 100 man crew, how many opportunities are there for people to begin learning to lead, etc.? Ok, so you've got a couple subcrews, a University, a bar....but who usually gets those positions? Go have a look at who fills those upper structure positions in your own family. Ask yourself where they've come from, and ask how many of the lower structure people are being overlooked when it comes to more trusted positions. Then, ask yourself why. It's not a difficult thing to understand. It's clear why we have five crews around here, if you really think about it. I won't be the one to spell it out for you, but I don't believe it's right. There's my two cents anyway. |

I have an opinion on this matter. The authing process has never exactly been open and accountable in my experience. One day a Boss presents one of their members as a new Family Head, this newly crowned Boss then makes a speech annoucning their arrival and the new family takes it from there. The how and the why have never been information that reachs the public eye. So the short answer on why we only have five families right now is simple. The current Bosses are either happy with the five, or have not yet met to discuss or propose increases. Why this is the case is something only they can answer as historically it has always been. I have only one further issue I'd like to raise. I'm not necessarily so sure that auths take place based upon merit and who is believed capable. There are a limited number of ways in which to prove yourself in general, be it through physical power in hunting down and killing enemies for your Boss, making money through incessant activity and scheming, being an exceptional public speaker whom people respect or having good organisational abilities. All stand out for me as being good reasons to consider someone for a promotion over a period of time. Do I believe these reasons are taken into considersation when choosing a new auth? Yes and no. If we are honest with ourselves, nepotism has always accompanied this world and more often than not an auth will go to an active Made Man or above who is very active, not obviously a fool and incredibly loyal to their Boss. I'd like to see different faces up there and have been pleasantly surprised at some of the auths thus far. To say that there is a lack of talent is something I feel has never been tested and smacks of high horsery in my humble opinion. |

I don't really think we're in need of a new family out there. Bosses are doing a good job, and I grew up from tales of 200 members crew from my ancestors. Actually a few didn't have a number close to that. Of course nowadays there aren't as many of our people in the streets looking for a place in this life, but that doesn't mean we should divide and conquer more. I think a 100 members crew is completely manageable and 5 is a bareable number of CLs. Maybe one more to fill LA and not leave it to the flies as it is now. |

Luongo pulls out his hip flask and takes a swig.He looks out towards the crowed of people and speaks once more This world can support 100 member families, there is no doubt about it, but in doing so many people lose there chance at having a fair shot at a family.Remember we do not have a population of 1000 people. Sure we could live with 5 families, theres no doubt about it. My only question is will it take for people to go rogue for things to change? I hear complaints when people set up and start shooting. One thing I have noticed with most of them was there lack of chance of being authed. Now I am not saying this to frighten but I do believe things need to change a little. Maybe a few new families to kick start this thing of ours back up. I am sure one of the reasons there are no new auths is the lack of trust. The present families have become close.I would be worried myself to let someone new into my circle. Now out of all the people that are able to set up, I am sure there are a few who have shown there worth, who have time after time proven there loyalty and allegiance to there family. We have two open cities. New Orleans and Los Angeles. The cities are falling into ruins waiting for someone to come and control all the looters and to organize the crime. Why not offer them as wild cities? A sort of survival of the fittest contest? where the participants would have to pay each family 100k to participate. Of course the final verdict would come down to the already established families, if the last men standing should retain there families. Taking another swig from his hip flask, Luongo steps back to let the next speaker, say his piece |

Authing someone because he or she might go rogue would be a foolish decision for any crew leader to make. It disgusts me to think that people honestly go rogue because they didn't get something to which they felt entitled. When you join a family, you are pledging your loyalty to that crew leader. It is that leader's decision to auth you. There is no guarantee that you will be authed. You are owed nothing. About the contest idea: I see that only bringing instability to this world. The person with the best gun is not necessarily the best leader. Additionally, I can see why other leaders might be hesitant to allow someone with a good gun to set up a headquarters. It is a matter of safety. There will be more auths when more auths are necessary. I sincerely hope the crew leaders will not rush to auth someone just to please people. If someone is deserving of the position and it is deemed that another leader is necessary, I have faith that the leaders of this world will come together to see this through. |

It really doesn't matter to me much that we get some new families up, things seem to be going well and things are getting taken care of accordingly and all the families are doing there part to keep there families safe. I'm sure they have thought about a candidate and when the time comes when they feel the families are getting crowded we will see a new auth. Till then just sit tight and be thankful that you are safe. Much respect, Dakine |

Okay throughout the families/business/fronts that we have in the different cities there are 318 documented workers, I'd say there is possibly another 20-30 sleepers in our cities and not forgetting the fresh off the boat add about another 15-20 there. There is no need for anymore families we have 1 family sitting with 99 members, 2 others have between 80 and 90, the other 2 20's and 30's. So first off there is loads of room, secondly what the hell is all this I'm hearing about giving other people the chance to get their feet wet(so to speak) The bosses are only going to auth someone they know, some thats worked with them in their family. This is the point when others get to take a shot at doing something, a space becomes available in the family if the boss has a good working relationship with them and thinks they are up to the task then the person thats needs the experience will get moved up and so on the process will be repeating if any other auths are made. The thing that really irks me about these discussions is that people always try and fight the corner of the little guy that doesn't have the oppertunities to get the much sought after bold suit. The last thing we want to do is fill their head with ideas that just about anybody can get auth, it's not true plain and simple. What we need to be instructing is that all recognise that the family is the most important aspect of our life, we need to be working together for our families benefit not for our own. If you do enough of that then you might just get recognised enough to be given a higher station in the family or a shot at auth for yourself. |

| And when there was 12 families still people would buy out and go rogue now and then. Its not lack of chance, its lack of patiente. Getting promoted to Made Man is not even a close call to being ready to become a leader. | |
