To keep it short here is what is going to be going into effect. In the next several days I will be speaking with several players and taking applications to fill some vacancies that exist in HelpDesk.

The duties will be to answer game-related questions. Simple enough.

Crewleaders WILL be able to take this task on and view and answer the mail in HelpDesk. The people charged with this task will also potentially be given the ability to Admin Wack and Admin Jail anyone who is out of line in lieu of an actual Administrator being present.

I will be appointing people to this position in the next few days and taking the applications as well. No one is exempt from applying or being appointed. Gangster/Crewleader whatever.

Since IRC is a necessity for this position, please include the IRC name at which you can be reached at in the application, the length of time you have played, and why you believe you would do well at this position.

I'm a bit confused. If no one is exempt from applying or being appointed, whether Gangster or Crewleader, then what do you mean by "Crewleaders WILL be able to take on this task..."? Are you saying that all crewleaders PLUS others who apply will have these powers/responsibilities?

I think by (Crewleaders Eligible) he means that a crewleader can apply.

Usually when an Admin or Assistants playing account is authed as a crewleader, they have their administrative duties taken from them. Mainly to stop people thinking that Admins are cheating on their player accounts.

You seem to be correct in my mind. Atleast that's how I interpreted it.

If my understanding of this system is correct the players account would still be their account. This system would just allow them to read HelpDesk mail, and possibly access one or two admin features. None of these would give the newly appointed assistant any advantage over other players.

All admin kills are logged, as are admin jails, and HelpDesk mail is setup just like the RHM being capable of reading the CLs mail. It would show up in the CL's mailbox, just like their regular mail.

I had hoped there would be some standardized format for this sort of application process, but alas I suppose a creative mind comes into play for this sort of thing. 

As for the crew leader specificity - Yes, the general idea for quite some years has been to avoid placing dedicated admins into positions where they would have an advantage over other players AND also to ensure that anyone who has achieved a position of great power (HQ button) like a crew leader - does not abuse that power beyond the scope of the games intended control. 

We've had to read countless threads and posts by both Mario and Izzy regarding these issues over the many years of both .org and MR's history, and unfortunately power has been abused numerous times in the past to the dismay of many.  For the most part though, both Mario and Izzy have ensured that the those responsible have been punished and they have done a fairly good job of keeping it all "clean."  Of course, no one is perfect and mistakes have still been made but that is a fact of life.  

I suppose this is my way of backing up what others have surmised as well as posting my "intent" to apply for a position.  I believe that after being a part of this thing since the beginning of .org, for what seems like a full decade already - it's time to give back as I once promised I would do eventually.  BrianArao of course beat me to the punch long ago.  heh

How do we apply? Or is this just something that will happen, if talked to?

I've been a user/helpdesk before. It helps pass time and you're able to meet quite a few users you normally wouldn't find yourself talking to. It's pretty cool.

So have I, and I disagree with everything Lars_Umlaut says. You meet morons and have to mock them relentlessly.
