Tonight has been a night of additions. Code has been put into place for you to become the grass roots advertising team for MafiaReturns. All you have to do is spread your referral link to the world.

Now, this has been a hottely debated feature for a few reasons and we have attempted to kill some of the issues with this.

You are not instantly awarded for a referal. This means that your referals have to work, before you are given credit for their referal. Also, referals must have never had an account on the game before. If they have had an account on the game you will not get credit for that referal.

The referal system is basically an associates system without the crew ties. You will earn money from your referal any time they do a crime, just as if they were your own associate. This is based on their crew taxes and all that, so how much you make is solely dependant on the other players in the game.

You will also only earn this benefit until the refered player has earn you 1 million dollars, or has reach the rank of wise guy. There may be other restrictions put into place after this writing, as it is a brand new feature.

Also, you will not begin to earn benefits from this system until the refered player has joined a family. This means not only that they have to join the game, they have to join a family, and they have to stay active, otherwise there is no sense for you to refer them.

We hope doing this will allow for us to grow our user base, award the users who want to try hard, and deter the cheaters.

I hope I have explained the system to you well enough. I plan to have different ways to promote your referal link setup within the week, but currently it is simply the text link in your profile management screen.

Hold up, how do you officially 'referrer' someone? I had a few of friends that play Runescape to come over here and hang out with me, but I didn't know that there was a system such as this.

The numbers are just hypothetical, but here is a scenario. I, the refered do a petty crime for $100 in a family with 10% petty tax. I earn $90 and $10 is passed to my CL/Sponsor. Under a referal system, would a further $10 of the original $100  go to my referer, so I earn $80?

Basically what I'm asking is, is the money a referer earns off the back of a refereds crime taken directly from the refered, as with CL tax...or is it essentially conjured out of the ether to ensure the referer earns his money and the refered is not forever making dosh for his friend that's coming from his own pocket?

In your example you would still receive 90 dollars. Your CL would receive 10 dollars. And your Referrer would receive 10 dollars, as long as you had not reached the rank of Wise Guy, or hit $1,000,000 in referral earnings.

Is it seriously that big a deal? I've seen it spelled both ways. Anyway I just changed the spellings to cull the complaints.

Still looks the same in the profile to me. I don't get the both ways comment....one of them is wrong, one is right. No big deal, but the correct way is more professional.
