Drug *FRONT* Property Started by: Tallien on Nov 04, '09 10:12

This would be great to see in the game!

Report Post Tip

There is already a perfectly valid reason to be active in your business.  Since I don't enjoy that aspect, I do not reap the benefits to my vision.  It seems ridiculous to me to add more and more and more reasons to utilize one feature in the game that already gives the users benefits.  This is why I feel it would be forcing the community to write.  If they already are not using this feature, because they already do not want the excellent bonuses they receive from such an endeavor, why keep pushing?  I also do not believe for one second that communication has been abandoned.  The way in which we communicate has just been changed to include more IRC conversations.

Drug *Front* Property. If you neither own a business to act as a front, nor a property to house the business acting as front, how can you have one?

Why should everyone receive huge cash bonuses that they do next to nothing to earn? These two elements of the game (drug front property & business district) tie in together and make perfect sense from a realism perspective. This should have been how the feature was implemented in the first place.

The business district gives minimal benefits. Vision can be improved in other ways and really, the business district is flawed for the reasons I opened with in this post. We may frequent our fronts from time to time, but we aren't going to be dishing out pizza, because that isn't our job. This suggestion gives the business district an authentic use.

The only complaint you seem to have against this is that you, and others like you, are going to miss out on the free money you've become accustomed to because you aren't prepared to operate a front. That to me seems to be all the more reason to adopt this. People should have to work at more elements than merely clicking the buttons to succeed.

The forums are a shadow of their former selves, that much is evident from even the most cursory glance. The integration of IRC into the game is partly responsible for that. I firmly believe that the more of the game that is played out actually within the game, through the forums, the better and more enjoyable it is for everyone. That is why I will always push for suggestions that put the focus back onto the game itself, especially if they have a sound and realistic basis to build upon.

this was a good idea nearly two years ago, and its a good idea now

Report Post Tip

i simply love this idea letsdoit

Report Post Tip

Still a great idea.

Report Post Tip

Well thought out suggestion, great idea and should be adopted.

We pitched this to the users - a requirement to have an active business to run your DFP from, and there was an overwhelming negative response. It's been a few years, so maybe the users who didn't want to have to RP to have a DFP may have changed their minds. I'm a fan of tying in the DFPs to a little more RP.

I think this would add depth and realism to the game, as well as the practical benefit of having greater incentive to post in the Business Districts. Anything that gives a purpose to being more active and vocal, and makes better use of existing features (e.g. Godfather's control over the city and the LHM's additional real estate management role) is worthwhile in my book.

I don't have anything new to add to the original suggestion - I think Tallien summed up the pros and cons perfectly.

Report Post Tip

I still like this, which isn't surprising as I suggested it, although I can't say I'm surprised that users were against it.

It will mean a lot more work being involved in maintaining a DFP, which for the majority of people is going to get a big fat no.

Report Post Tip

The reward of a DFP should be more than just remembering to click a button within a 48 hour period of time. Day in and day out people gripe about we need more use from the buisness district, well here is a clear cut solution to the problem. You dont want to utilize it, you dont get a DFP. Everything cant just be turned into button smashing. At least thats how I see it.

Report Post Tip

A big fat Clause of a NO.

And I'm one of the lazy people who wouldn't want to have to maintain a role play thread & bribe every 48 hours just to keep a DFP running even though I can't remember the last time I had a DFP.

Report Post Tip

The boost it would have on the game's business district and the reward going to those prepared to actually roleplay owning a front, which is a key component of 'the Mafia' that we're largely ignoring, rather than those people who just click bribe once every 48 hours, seems in keeping with the philosophy of the game to me.

Report Post Tip

I like this suggestion. I'm all for writing role play and boosting business district activity, but I doubt the majority of players here will post to earn money. No one entered a RP comp I had in September that paid out 1.5 million and 5 credits to two winners. I know that's not a fortune but for people who don't spend real money on the game and buy credits with game money it would've helped them out. Some people aren't comfortable writing and some are too busy with other things... clicking, socializing, racing, etc.

Report Post Tip

I agree with Flash, I being one of the non-RP people here and mostly clicker I do not feel that people should be forced to RP to make more money. If this changed was put in I would deal with it and just give my DFP to one of the RP people in my crew and just make an agreement with them but if it went to a vote between the players mine would be No.

Report Post Tip

I gotta say i'm actually of mixed feelings here. I like things that push for mroe RP, but i suspect this would led to the death of the DFP. even with the MRSE (which seems to be effectivly defunct) the buisness district has never been a major thing. I'm afraid that all this would do would be to shakle the DFPs to the buisness' and drag it down with them.

all that said, i'm in favor of this in princible, as I like anything that tries to push RP in this world.

Report Post Tip

This is still one of my favourite suggestions ever made. Jus' saying.
